I love the Cranberries - I worked in Dublin in the late 80s - I recall a story from an Irish mate that her school principal used to get the whole school to stop and listen to her sing in morning assemblies and I can easily believe that - her singing is just so hauntingly beautiful, so pure and unique - and such pitch perfect delivery. No one comes close - so sad she left us too early...

As a music teacher, watching you two listen to the guitar solo side by side is my very favorite part of this video. The way you’re physicalizing the different elements of the music is fantastic; one of you bopping to the beat (as you then reveal is your background with rap/hip-hop) while the other sways smooth to the spacey guitar/synth solo.
Your appreciation for the structure of the track… honestly made me tear up. When I dream of the kinds of music consumers my students will be when they grow up, I pray they end up like this. Forever seeking to expand their horizons, find meaning in music they didn’t previously understand, and most of all, APPRECIATING DOLORES’S CASUAL OPERATIC BADASSERY IN ALL ITS GLORY 😂😂😂 earnestly, NEVER stop doing this!

Since you like Dolores O'Riordan's voice so much, I'd recommend checking out The Sundays. An English group with a female vocalist (Harriet Wheeler). She has a similar ethereal singing voice that is unforgettable. Their best known song is Here's Where the Story Ends, but I'd also recommend Summertime. It actually sounds like summer should sound IMO!

Linger was The Cranberries second single, and first huge hit. Dreams was the first single, and it was rereleased as a single after the success of Dreams. I was starting out in college at the time, and I remember Linger being everywhere at the time. The music video is great as well, with a film noir aesthetic. The guitar style is heavily inspired by the first album's producer, Stephen Street, who produced a lot of work for The Smiths.

Both of the 1st 2 Cranberries albums; "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?" and "No Need To Argue" are both top to bottom masterful albums. Your right on when you open your self up to different types of music you can understand and really appreciate the art of the songs. Hey guys, just wanted to extend my appreciation for your channel. I've seen at least 100 of your reactions by now over the past year to some of my favorite songs, but after you two described the journey you have been on musically the past year, it felt like I needed to say "thank you" at least once. You guys are at the top of my music reaction channel content creators, and as you know, there must be 100s of them. It speaks to how well you present your videos, your chemistry and your sincerity.
And just to quickly mention this song in particular, it is fitting to leave a comment now, because this is one of those tracks I love listening to all the time. Its just a beautiful piece of music and special as it was the first "hit" for the Cranberries. A band I didn't give enough credit to in the moment, because at that age, I was into more aggressive-sounding music. As the years go by though, Dolores' voice just gets better every time I hear it. Such an amazing talent she was. One of my biggest regrets as a fan of live music was never giving myself a chance to see her perform live. A one-in-a-billion voice, and I may be estimating too low.

I knew Amber would love this. Female Friday is tomorrow! Here are some other amazing female voices of the 90s. Mazzy Star (Hope Sandoval) - Fade Into You, Sarah McLachlan - Possession, The Cowboy Junkies (Margo Timmons) - Common Disaster, Zero 7 (Sophie Barker) - Destiny (2001)

This song obviously has a deep meaning but it’s also just so, so soothing to listen to. It’s become a song that I put on when my anxiety is hitting me, and man, does it ever help me just take a breath and relax.

Another great Irish band of the 90s and the 2000s The Corrs an Irish family band that combine pop rock with traditional Irish themes within their music. The group consists of the Corr siblings, Andrea (lead vocals, tin whistle, ukulele), Sharon (violin, keyboards, vocals), Caroline (drums, percussion, piano, bodhrán, vocals) and Jim (guitar, piano, keyboards, vocals).
They’ve had numerous hits I posted a link towards the song call Forgiven note Forgotten one of Ireland’s most successful bands

First I really appreciate you taking that dive into Irish musical traditions and how they relate to popular music genres. I'm stopping around the 07:00 just to let you know we are breaking through. If you listen to Cranberries and Sinead O'Connor among others you can hear our aboriginal island culture coming through. Think about it this way: Empire destroyed our roots just as surely as they destroyed others before and since. Shared Mythology: Sirens is the Greek for this same spirit being, in Ireland they are called the Banshee and are associated with forests and hillsides, probably due to their qualities of echo (another word from mythology).

The greatest thing about reaction channels is watching young people like yourselves develop an appreciation for music that you never would have even given a seconds thought to. And so many reactors grew up almost exclusively on a diet of rap and hip hop (the era you grew up in) that it's especially gratifying for me to see the appreciation for classic rock (the era I grew up in). Keep going, lots more great stuff to discover!

*This is likely the oldest of their well known songs. I love this one, and there's a video of them performing this one live ("On the Water Front") way way back in 1991...two years before it was released on their first album. When will you react to "Uninvited" by Alanis Morissette?*
