Hey yall, tip from a current Navy recruiter.. the 4 heaviest weighted sections are the 2 math and 2 English sections. The other 6 sections are mainly where the specific job placement factors come in but if you are struggling to get a qualifying score focus on those 4 primarily! Good luck to everyone out there!

But this is what google says- The AFQT is a combination of the four scores from the math and verbal domains, which consists of AR, MK, WK, and PC. AFQT scores are reported as percentiles between 1-99. An AFQT percentile score indicates the percentage of examinees in a reference group that scored at or below that particular score.

I took the practice asvab today at my recruiters office. I got a 35 😩 Arithmetic math is not my strong suit. Y'all remember those times, when we would bitch about ever using those math equations ever in our adult life? Well look at us now. Struggling. I will definitely download the app.

My recruiter isn’t much help. He don’t like to call so he only texts. So he can ignore my questions for hours or days at a time

Noneoftheabove nah, I was all over the internet trying to find study guides and practice tests. I even checked out two asvab study books from the library but the best thing I could’ve done was study on quizlet, when I took the test it was the same exact questions that they had on quizlet, all the other study guides and practice tests were similar type of question but the quizlet ones were the exact same. So with that and prior knowledge on formulas and mechanics you’ll be good.

Those are the two flash card sets I studied, get those and you be good. And make sure you know area of a triangle , square , and rectangle and also the perimeter

@@davidcardenas3315 The thing is I was going to go to college doing ROTC but I had thought the ASVAB test was also a requirement, so I took it immediately. I didn't really prepare, but looking over the how the format of the test helped. That is why I'm thankful.

@David Wakefield @Andrew Martinez My answer is most likely not going to help as I rather got lucky with my score. I just took the test on a whim, and I did not use a particular website or book. I just reviewed the test format which could be found on any website so I could get familiar with the format. I used my prior general knowledge from the four years of high school. I did not score well on the electronics, mechanics and auto&shop.

New Marine here. I just graduated Marine Corps boot camp on the 13th. I scored a 45 when I took the asvab. Call me an idiot all you want but I'm still in the Marines with a good mos, that's all that matters at the end of the day. Don't stress about the asvab if you're worried about it. As long as you did okay in highschool you shouldn't have any problems with the asvab.

I scored a 56 and a 53 without studying or anything and still secured myself a really good job. So I guess people should realize that super high scores arent always necessary. (I'm Army and I ship out in April) Nice to see a military TH-cam channel. Subscribed.

@@iam_domoo uhm well... I didnt do anything. I just have always been a good reader and what not so that helped me a lot. My math dragged my score down so since I didnt study at all I'd recommend just getting in touch with the math side by doing some research. I also scored bad on the mechanical stuff. So if you just do a little bit of arithmatic to get ready for it you should do fine.
Unless you struggle with reading comprehension then do a little bit of that before going and taking it.

I learned a rule for studying in college. Take a 10 minute break every 50 minutes. I used a 10 minute timer so I wouldn't dawdle. What happens when you don't take a break is that your eyes are reading but what you read doesn't stick. I relaxed on Friday evening but went to sleep at my regular time because on Saturday I did homework from 8-5 or 6. Then I went out with friends on Saturday night and did household chores and ran errands on Sundays.
I take my asvab again hopefully soon. Im way more determined than the last time. Trust the process. Army strong

Yes, all of these work well to increase your ASVAB score. As well as hiring a tutor. This action is that your most comfy on, worried about later. Try to study more when the hardest subjects for you. I ended up with an 86 on the first one.
I must say, this is some excellent helpful tips from this gentleman. I got about 2 weeks and I use an app that's really helpful. Thanks bro!

You remind me of a good friend of mine from back in the day, he too has that air traffic control background and experience from his military service and loves what he does, I'm very proud of him. I pursued my undergrad after high school and went into psychology and social work in college here on Oahu. I've been keeping up with plenty of videos regarding the AF leading up to finding yours and this was great advice. :)
I currently provide outreach case management to the homeless in Hawai'i and have done this for the past five years,. It's been quite the journey, but I am ready to transition into a stronger role for my own personal well-being. Overtime, I have been slowly building up the anticipation to join the Air Force. I am definitely considering para-rescue, and your field seems quite rewarding as well. Awaiting a call this week from a recruiter out in Santa Monica, looking forward to a new stage in life. I got a 95 on the ASVAB without studying. However, I had 3 years of college completed. I did google ASVAB practice tests the night before, and looked at the test that was provided by the military. It was broken up into several subjects and I think looking at that may be useful for some people.
I love how you kept it simple and to the point! ASVAB FOR DUMMIES totally would have overlooked that but I’m a man simplicity and that just helped out so much. AC BABY hard work always pays off!!

Again when it opened back up. Just took it last week made a 85 just low enough to not get Nuke which I'm happy about :3 so hopefully I can just get MC. And if they don't offer it to me at meps I'll be sure to tell them it's what I want and I don't mind being DEP until a slot is available.
mobskii Also, I had pretty large gauged ears so I've been using this facial acid at a higher volume to irritate the skin and get them to heal up. I have to do it one more time, let it heal then I can go to meps.
Kat May just letting you know they can refuse to enlist you if you’re only interested in one job, especially since that one is rare to get anyway. They made me have 5 jobs in mind that I would be satisfied with taking & luckily I got my first choice. So good luck to you!
87 is too low for nuke. You will have a tough time unless you have already completed college level physics.

Adding and multiplying is easy of course, but complex math is really difficult for me. I'm just studying and learning how to solve the problems that are on the asvab and then ima retake it. All I need is a 31 for army but I'm gonna try to score at least a 50 so my waiver can look good

Always study and prepare when you take your ASVAB BEFORE you join! A score of 90 or better will guarantee the best rate your looking for and even duty station (As long as you also kick ass in boot camp). Many times you'll even graduate with an E4 rank right out the gate.

Got the Kaplan edition Asvab study guide book 2020-2021. Took pretests and made a 50. Now nearly completing the book I am averaging 85. Now I’m just trying to get a recruiter to get back to me. So far no luck. I’m going into the Air Force for Cyber System Operations.
My study habits were 1-3 hours daily for 2 weeks. I took multiple pretests to get an accurate reading of what I needed to focus on and then begun my studying. I recommend this book because although some might say it’s tougher than others but for me, in my opinion, I feel far more confident in what I’m doing now than I did 2 weeks ago.

Asvab is tough but remember once your in you can retake it and as far as I know theirs no repercussions 36 is good go higher the green berets and para rescue are in the 100s so get it.

If 12B is your favorite position then go for it. Take every chance while serving to take a college course. Your efforts will be rewarded when you get out. You'll only have 4 years minus the time used to get the core work done. So about 2 more years after the HD. Good luck.

If you take the ASVAB the first time and make a 50 then you retake it and make a 40. They will keep the 50.
You need a 32 for enlistment in the Navy but like he said, the better you score the more jobs are available.

31 is the score you need for most of the branch’s they recently increase the score for the Air Force and the asvab is the afqt part which is WK , PC, MC, and AR
