PLDT Fonkard TVC (1997)

PLDT touting the convenience of phone cards (or fonkards) as a lighter alternative to lugging around coins when making payphone calls.
Of course, cellphones were starting to catch on around this time, so the fonkards eventually shifted to prepaid load cards by the proverbial turn of the century.

Ah, the reality of stuffing your pockets with unnecessary stuff, or in this case, awful loads of coins. PLDT's Fonkard, later Fonkard Plus, Touch Card, Pwede, was an attempt to deal with this problem. Unfortunately, newer PLDT payphones of the time, that supported Fonkards were not dual purpose in comparison with competitors which you can use either card or coins to call.
Fonkard Plus in its hey day rolled out tons of limited edition designs including the rare Voltes V Fonkards.
