I really do wonder why the Su-24M got added to war thunder with so much of its all weather capabilities missing. Considering the Russians dont get many aircraft with thermal pods or other means of quickly spotting and detecting targets like many Western aircraft do. Even at lower BRs. But then, ground radar has always sucked in War thunder.
I think that may be because of how good the armament it get's is, I used it on Sim for some time now and the lack of Thermals might be noticable but it's weapons more than make up for it's lacking TGP.
You are talking about features that don't exist in the game yet, not don't exist on Su-24 only. Ground radars are still fresh and new in the game, few planes have it. I'm sure it will get enhancements in the future.
More than helping with the cannon it's not that much use you don't have radar missiles but I appreciate the update. also finding ground targets now works better
@@carlosadonayguardadogaleas6150 Tf was it doing in sim anyway? MTI is an air target search mode, moving target indicator. the Mig-23's have it, so long as the target is below the radar and painted on the ground it works like a PD-radar. The fact it's being used against ground targets makes my brain hurt.
MTI uses diffrences in returns it has a hard time tracking target moving towards or away from it PD uses the doppler effect to distinguish targets it has a hard time tracking targets moving laterally from it
I feel so bad that in the US tech tree only one plane will be equipped with a radar with the MTI function, the F-15E. From what I know, such radars were equipped in the A-7D, A-7E, F-111A/C/F , A-6E TRAM. I don't understand why they don't add such radars to these planes.
The american air tree is so OP easily beating everything else, yet people still complain about it. USA hands down has the best fighters/CAS planes in the game. Just a reminder the su24 does not get thermals, something the a10a late gets in a lower BR.
Yeah I got the A6E-Tram first week and got the whole US tree and since day one it has a radar in its nose, it just doesn’t allow us to use it which is dumb.
Viggen should also have a ground radar... well, not really for ground targets but for mapping terrain ( yes, so you can fly through fog) and for spotting ships.
I hope they make A2G radar modes more fleshed out with this. I dont want to wait until good A2G radars from the US tree for it to finally see some work
@@noobhue1997 Great, soviet bias again. We will not add longbow missiles or brimstone missiles for US and UK because it's unbalanced and will kill the targets even behind the smoke screen, but we will add this function to su-24 just cuz we can...
I mean now i dont need to turn off the radar is ground RB because its usless. Just need to learned how to use it because im not a big radar guy i never understood what do u need to press to have ur radar lock on a ground target.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see a reason to use A2G radar at all the way it's implemented. 10km is 10 less to eventually detect a pantsir. IF a target is locked than it's highly unreliable so a pod is always better, even without thermal
It’s Russian it doesn’t fight pantsirs and the pantsir is easy to avoid it’s just people who fly easy flight paths dead straight towards it and get surprised when they get missiled
@@Hunter_i86 Pure guesswork on my part but could it be used when flying low to the ground? Some sort of surface search mode, maybe even intended for ships mainly. Edit: Looking at it in a replays sensor view might shed some light as to how it works.
I heard that, historically, the soviets decided to invest much more on ground radars than in thermal imagers. If that's true it would make sense. But even the ground radars USRR techtree has aren't good in the moment to really balance the lack of thermals; despite the Su-39 koργo radar having datalink for it's vikhirs, it's basically useless because the TWS slips and loses track for no reason.
It also could be Gaijin working on testing the functions themselves. Up till now ground radar was a token capability that did not do much or was available in so few aircraft it didn't matter. And Gaijin has been testing a lot of new functions this update Stealth, ground radars, multi guided ground ordinance, hit analysis cameras, rocket propelled ground munitions in the form of the Grom-1 which they back tracked quickly, and air based PESA radar on the Su-34.
@deauthorsadeptus6920 I'm sure there are, however I can't recall them at the moment. Though o didn't state clearly I was more thinking of rocket proppelled bombs. But then again a missile really is a rocket propelled bomb when you think about it. Though I doubt they have the range and glide characteristics of the Grom-1
It seems to me that the main area of application of radar + TGP will be ASB and hunting ground bots. The less the strike aircraft is above the battlefield, the greater the chances of it being shot down. The presence of radar radically speeds up the search, guidance and strike on ground equipment, and therefore increases the chances of returning to the airfield. But questions arise from the category "where?" regarding the Buccaneer, A-6, Tornado, F-111, etc.
I hope they receive their ground radars eventually, it is always easier for Gaijin to access info about Russian\Soviet vehicles than NATO vehicles, not always because of bias as people usually like to think, but it is more about the availability I believe.
i heard they made some changes to the Su-34 radar, its not as fast but still decent from what ive heard. also still any chance youll check out the LG bombs for the 34 since the dev server is back?
Turn off select radar target or something like that and you have to bind radar horizontal and vertical keybinds and you can also add radar tilt keybinds if you turned constantly elevated radar or something like that idk i'm cooked asf
Gaijin is rushing modern 4th gen jets for some unknown reason to me. Time will come and there will be nothing else to add, I mean right now all the iconic stuff are already in the game. A-10 and F-14 are still very fresh to me and Gaijin rushed all Eagles, Falcons, Fulcrums, Flankers and Gripens in a short time, I'm not happy about this, it is like quantity over quality, they should add one or two max 4th gen planes of these per year in my opinion.
