    Really like that you highlight new research on every name reaction video.

    Actually Alexander Borodin first observed this reaction in 1861. So it would be more correct to call this reaction "hunsdiecker-borodin reaction"

    No mention of the Russian-Georgian polymath Alexander Borodin, who first observed the reaction?

    • @ProfessorDaveExplains
      @ProfessorDaveExplains  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m pretty sure that was hunsdiecker, hence the name of the reaction.

      @@ProfessorDaveExplains No, it was 19th century chemist Alexander Borodin (1833-1887) who discovered and first described the reaction.
      This was the same Borodin who said, "Respectable people do not write music or make love as a career."

      If you're interested in learning, I'd start off reading "Chemistry: The Central Science".
      It's starts off at a basic level, and slowly works up.
      It can be a little overwhelming at times.

      @@kingthief9118 ...I've been outta high school since 98 and didn't understand basic chemistry then. Things like this have to be on a sesame street level for me to get it, and no one has that kinda time.

    Prof.. Dev explains
    I am a learner in class 12th in country india. As I see your thumbnail, i got afraid that what i was learning now in India and in my Indian syllabus "NCERT" is totally different from UNITED STATES FROM AMERICA education syllabus ? This is my one of the biggest confusion of my life. I love your content and sometime compare you with my NCERT textbooks. Please look when you free.
    Thank you,

    His explanations are no higher than a High School chemistry teacher who got Cs in college chemistry. I know. I hated that but I did really well in biochem, math, and ultimately teaching basic chemistry at the University level. This guy really needs basic science teaching instruction. Sorry. But frankly you aren't helping anyone.
