Actually Borderlands 3 did do combatant modifiers, it's called the mayhem system. It overall did not go well for them too. It just became really annoying with all kinds of stupid impediments and everything is a bullet sponge. So yeah they shouldn't go too far.
Not to mention mayhem 11 has been bugged for so long, it doesn't actually apply the resource debuff it states. 99.9% of the time i just play mayhem 11 cause MH10 modifiers are purely a nuisance.
I didn't really read the "leveraging legacy raid content" the same way (I thought they were just referring to old raid encounters in the game and revamping them like pantheon) BUT I was originally hoping for 10th anniversary we would get a D1 raid Pantheon including Aksis from WOTM, and then they slowly introduce the other Wrath encounters into the game from there since it obviously takes a lot of time and money for that raid specifically obviously with the final shape delay that made my hopes fade away but maybe at some point something like that will happen
Dungeons were already an extra $20 per year. I'm curious what the cost looks like. I'm sure they'll do a $100 version to keep parity with the past costs. But what do the expansions cost? $30 each? Seems high, especially when a dungeon cost $10 (each) before. Maybe the raid expansion will be $30 and the dungeon one will be $20?
Don't be surprised if the expansions are $40 or even $50 each. I'm not sure how they are attaching the battle pass(es) to each update, or if there will be 2 or 4 each year, but Raid/Dungeon content has historically never been the prime factor of an expansion's cost (except the Dungeon Key lol).

Borderlands did add a mayhem system in BL3 and wonder lands with the modifiers, like shield buddy or have an element beam that connects to enemies, or when close to enemies they deal more damage... and It is pretty random and the modifiers themselves dont feel taxing or easy to predict
The underdome did it all the way back in BL1. Mayhem sucked until 11 imo, I can’t lie it’s all a matter of opinion but randomness does not always = enjoyment
Good idea from the team with less resources to improve the vast amount of content that already exists instead of focusing on creating the same amount of throwaway content that they have. Improve the core game!
the way i read this is that it's not necessarily because of the layoffs but just a shift to increasing the quality of raids and dungeons we get over just adding more
All this sounds like to me is that they’re repackaging the idea of raid lairs with added timegating of loot and encounters which would be totally fine if it didn’t mean we were getting half the amount of raid and dungeon content per year
I am not neccesarily against reprising newer raids in a new way (potentially new encounters), however that reprise being the same raid I played less than half a year ago.. seems not very fun to me. I think what could work well is if the next year will feature the last traditionally reprised raid (be that a D2 raid or Wrath) together with the brand new raid. From there on out they can go with this new system of: New raid -> reprised raid from last year -> New raid -> reprised raid from last year -> etc. This gives you more than a year of breathing room for the raid to wind down and then the reprise will feel more meaningful imo.
If the expansions are around £20-30 I’ll consider getting them, I’m not paying more and getting less, it feels like forsaken and a couple of larger seasons split up throughout a year; the bottom line is if you’ve seen destiny as a 60-100$ yearly subscription getting a good amount of content for that, you’re not gonna pay bungie big for mid sized expansions, the prices have to be fair for their size
as a wrath of the machine enjoyer, i think since it’s the last reprised raid that could be added they can take a year or so and just work on it in the background. just for like consistency? so its not the only one from d1 just left out.
Imagine if they combine the d2 vaulted raids into one as a random encounter from the raids up to one of the final bosses of the raids adds replayability and have a sprint mode where you play all of the encounters
I dunno how it would work on the technical/coding side of things, but I think it'd be neat if the banes are randomly rolled every 30 seconds before the enemy spawns; with an additional setting that every 30 seconds, enemies without banes will roll to see if they will develop a bane. Both of those would add some unpredictable runs on the player's end. I also think it'd be neat, but a pain to code, if they could pick a mechanic every season/episode to apply to all the Nightfalls. Like, for instance, pulling the scanner/operator mechanics from Deep Stone, and apply them to Nightfalls. It'd require some restructuring, but all those systems together could turn something like The Disgraced into something newish.
This is how i see it, if there is going to be less now thats fine, ill take a break and do something else, as long as the quality is the same or better that is
They could do like Space Marine 2 and have some random encounters that just happen throughout the strike or add additional pathways to take to objectives.
Still genuinely surprised contest mode isn't a default difficulty you can select with amped rewards and all that jazz. They've had a layup for years and never even took the shot.
Man I'm so glad they gutted the Raid and Dungeon team so that we get way less than before for no reason. It's only the best content in the game and franchise defining, not important right?
I really do question bungie like, Most of our friends just left, whats left is hardcore players or the casuals who have the backlog of work to do. Most now don't have a group for raiding and wont lfg due to the stigma so could only convince their friends to return to experience it. and now you have to convince your friends to comeback and pay for half the total content they cared about? And longer dry spells with less expansions to make it feel worth it or alive? And no word of marathon or any other revenue stream man Bungie is doing ballet on cling wrap thin ice.
Left 4 Dead 2 had a great AI director that would adjust loot, enemies and even paths through the map. This would be a great feature to revitalize old content and make new content feel more unpredictable.
Still want to see reprised red borders for VoG and GoS. They dont even need to rlly mess with the raid except GoS you can skip through the whole thing they need to fix that. But just having Red Borders alone would ignite so much more engagement with those raids. Pantheon should never have left. If you wanted to vault the emblems and Title fine whatever. It would be such a good way to introduce legacy raids without the full raid. I want the full raid but im willing to meet in the middle. Pantheon was a lot of fun and getting red borders left and right as well as picking which raid exotic you want was so so cool.
I think I would like to see more combatant types over most combatant changes Maybe a shield focussed Fallen Enemy, some aerial hive combatants, etc If our abilities and combat style is evolving I think the enemies should too
Imagine berserk will stack with other effects. Like if one captain has berserk and another buff when you defeat him will meteor or the lightning ability transfer to the adds? Then I’ve got a bunch of squishies going berserk. Yeah they’re easy to kill but now they shock and have meteors flying at me
I feel like at the GM level it would be really interesting to effectively remove the narrative limits of the content (certain factions and bosses, or abilities) and just add in some far more random spawns and enemies. It would be way more interesting to enter a room you've played dozens of times and not actually know if it's going to be Hive, or it might actually be Fallen or Cabal that time around. The bosses being swapped out or just having a chance to be a different boss or giving them different elemental damage would be super interesting since it would make it harder to take full advantage of our builds and the inherent power-creed in the game at this stage. Basically, I don't think more people at a very high level of play care as much about keeping the strikes/battlegrounds lore-accurate as they care about them being challenging and rewarding. If they can improve the rewards then they should at least randomize the challenge level so when you enter a GM it could be a 9/10 challenge, or it could be a 10/10 challenge with enemies you didn't build for.
i think i take this over stuff people say we keep wanting. new encounters, new ways or playing, contest mode. this is better than just getting new/old raids. because they can always bring back old raids and have these things to make it better :>
Wow, it’s almost like all of the turmoil and panicking caused by content creators was an insanely uninformed overreaction that we could’ve saw coming a mile away, it’s almost like we already knew we’d still be getting raid and dungeon content, but everyone wanted to ignore it so they could go panic mode.
I think it would be amazing if Destiny had some sort of true RnG mode, almost roguelike. Start a lower lvl strike and have Ahsa’s blessing but WAY more interesting and or unique. Maybe every 5th or 10th encounter is a raid or dungeon encounter. Throughout increasing difficulty/ modifiers too the point the only way to survive is to have that god run RnG luck (well past contest mode difficulty), even if the reward was subpar (which I hope it wouldn’t be), the chase of the perfect run would keep people coming back on top of loot incentives
Not all the way through the video yet but just off of seeing how players treat crafted weapons I don't think the tiered weapons will move the needle too much. The main reason I say that is because sure more stability for flinch resistance is nice and stuff like reload on a 120 can feel good but when it comes to enhancing main weapon traits most of the time it BARELY helps so unless its a difference between something like Incandescent vs enhanced Incandescent and you care about build crafting unique loadouts people will just ignore it. Especially when you consider origin traits are very minor in how they come into play majority of the time outside of cursed thrall and arguably the vex milk one but thats heavily dependent on what trait perks you run so bungie will have to make origin traits that absolutely cook to make T5 weapons be something that people chase. Its funny changes like deterministic recoil, zoom rebalance, and zen moment getting buffed really contributed to how much people are likely to care about these new tier weapons and don't get me started on how stupid RNG is when it comes to getting drops you actually want. Oh well. Hopefully the armor has something that will get more bodies into higher tier content because anyone who is even remotely interested in endgame figured out years ago how to use armor picker and got all the armor they'll ever need outside of VERY specific exotic rolls. Idk what they're planning to add but the problem is set bonuses will only go so far because seasons get sunset so you have to have to futureproof and if they give armor origin trait kinda buffs whats gonna stop people from just keeping a class item for that and thats it outside of very few exotic class items being not only good but fun to play with? I'm not trying to be doom and gloom, I'm genuinely curious what they have planned to update gear without powercreepung things so bad that people don't care about new loot for years again. I mean "is the new seasonal gun better than X?" will always be a question
New age of triumph armor for raids would be cool, could make some strike exclusive armor sets again, that’d be enough to help the game; who wouldn’t want to wear armor that was torn from their enemies? Apparently, according to bungie, the guardians. I just want strike exclusives to come back, it isn’t that hard to do, maybe a weapon here and an armor piece there, just add some exclusive rewards to the nightfalls that are in the rotator.
I still want something like factions for PvP I grinded them so much, it doesn’t even have to be the same ones it can be different it would add a lot of reasons to play PvP like it did for D1
I have a hard time believing that they won’t bring back the old raids eventually. Like, maybe not with apollo/behemoth, but maybe in future when they have this new content delivery stuff figured out? It’s just hard to imagine that bungie would leave this content on the table, essentially. Sucks that they won’t mention it with specificity.
Yeah. I really want those back but I also kinda get why they wouldn't go through the trouble of bringing them all back. I dount the amount of player engagement with them would be low. Sure it may bring a momentary spike but I see it being short lived.
I'm trying to think back and have Bungie promised the reprised raids before ramping up hype for the release of one? Have they put on a road map or anything more than a few months ahead?
i wish the reprised raid would just be old raids like leviathan we cant be sure but i would have assumed reprising a raid from old D2 would be easier than one from D1 anyway purely from a technical standpoint so im a little let down they arent doing that
I'm not too upset about the drop to 1 raid a year, because it's not surprising. Anyone that's been paying attention should've known things were gonna be scaling back. 1 dungeon a year is a little more surprising, but if it means that one dungeon has more stuff as well as the death of dungeon keys, then that takes some of the sting off. Everything else, if people can just take a sec to look past the actual number of activities we're getting, actually sounds kinda cool? Customizable raid difficulty with rewards to match? I mean we'll wait and see if it's actually any good of course, but my inital reaction is "yes please." Raids also getting basically a 1.5 update a few months later also sounds good (assuming they do it right, like Datto says the 1.0 version needs to feel complete, otherwise people will cry that the full raid is timegated). And finally, Pantheon-esque raid/dungeon event in the final update of the year. Idk man, as someone that was fully prepared for Destiny to be scaling back the volume of new content going forward, and that Destiny was gonna become more of an off-and-on game than a permanent hobby, this all actually sounds kinda exciting.
Yo they adding eximus units from Warframe now? In all seriousness it could be a fun little mixup if done right, though the "punchable" one sounds more annoying than fun if they don't allow all abilities to break the shield. (At least Super damage at any rate.)

Yearly pass will still cost 100$ for everything
@@leftyknoxdark1681 ok so nothing changes why is this suddenly an issue
Actually Borderlands 3 did do combatant modifiers, it's called the mayhem system. It overall did not go well for them too. It just became really annoying with all kinds of stupid impediments and everything is a bullet sponge. So yeah they shouldn't go too far.
Not to mention mayhem 11 has been bugged for so long, it doesn't actually apply the resource debuff it states. 99.9% of the time i just play mayhem 11 cause MH10 modifiers are purely a nuisance.
The melee only shields modifier will have me skipping literally any activity with that enabled.
Literally just use a ranged melee and there's no problem
You look like you're feeling well, which is really nice to see!
Keep doing what you are doing, it seems to be good for you :)
I think a dungeon Pantheon would be pretty fun, just imagine having to get through all the different Ogre bosses back to back. Would be pretty funny
What's gonna happen with vaulted raids though? I feel like there's a lot of potential in bringing back leviathan, wrath or scourge :/
My future opinion has arrived.
first bit of content I saw was bloodbourne. I hope that everyone can enjoy your content regardless of game
BUNGIE! PLEASE GIVE US BACK LEVIATHAN AND SCOURGE OF THE PAST IN ADDITION TO THIS NEW CONTENT CYCLE
I didn't really read the "leveraging legacy raid content" the same way (I thought they were just referring to old raid encounters in the game and revamping them like pantheon)
BUT I was originally hoping for 10th anniversary we would get a D1 raid Pantheon including Aksis from WOTM, and then they slowly introduce the other Wrath encounters into the game from there since it obviously takes a lot of time and money for that raid specifically
obviously with the final shape delay that made my hopes fade away but maybe at some point something like that will happen
They need to drop last gen consoles and re add the DCV
Ah man I just hope that they still bring Wrath back as a surprise.
@@Rice_NL rumors are Bungie can’t figure out the death zamboni encounter to work with D2 mechanics and the guy who programmed it isn’t with the company anymore
@@CasualTiger makes sense as per why they are not bringing it back. Such a shame tho. It’s the only raid we didn’t get back but would be so nice if they did. Fingers crossed but unfortunately if this is indeed the case we might never see it.
@@CasualTiger I'm hesitant to believe anything that doesn't have a stamp of approval of general good sources. How long did we think D3 was in development only for them to come out and say 'no, it isn't'
I just hope that some enemy modifiers will be able to use *against* the enemies. Like the nuclear one I HOPE it does damage to enemies as well
Borderlands did add a mayhem system in BL3 and wonder lands with the modifiers, like shield buddy or have an element beam that connects to enemies, or when close to enemies they deal more damage... and It is pretty random and the modifiers themselves dont feel taxing or easy to predict
I think it'd be cool if they added a loot piñata bane mod that's just a rare chance to spawn on enemies
the way i read this is that it's not necessarily because of the layoffs but just a shift to increasing the quality of raids and dungeons we get over just adding more
...are they still going to have the staff left by next year to make the raids/dungeons?
I’d love to see a choose your own adventure style raid where you get to progress through leviathan and tackle bosses from all the levi raids
8:00 “It needs to feel added on and not like ‘did I just get a sub?’” - Datto 2024
All this sounds like to me is that they’re repackaging the idea of raid lairs with added timegating of loot and encounters which would be totally fine if it didn’t mean we were getting half the amount of raid and dungeon content per year
seriously. you know we’re about to get raid lairs.
Damn, the destiny situation/drama is crazy/wild/insane
I am not neccesarily against reprising newer raids in a new way (potentially new encounters), however that reprise being the same raid I played less than half a year ago.. seems not very fun to me.
I think what could work well is if the next year will feature the last traditionally reprised raid (be that a D2 raid or Wrath) together with the brand new raid. From there on out they can go with this new system of: New raid -> reprised raid from last year -> New raid -> reprised raid from last year -> etc.
This gives you more than a year of breathing room for the raid to wind down and then the reprise will feel more meaningful imo.
The fact that he was disappointed that the champions weren’t going to have banes 😂😂😂
if the raids feel complete I'll be happy, if it feels like things are just not put in the game for us I'm probably not gonna be playing.
2:28 you know eater was a bad raid when he forgot to mention it 😭
as a wrath of the machine enjoyer, i think since it’s the last reprised raid that could be added they can take a year or so and just work on it in the background. just for like consistency? so its not the only one from d1 just left out.
Im really disappointed about the dungeon thing... that was the only thing that got me excited since i dont play raids often
only thing that’s gonna make me come back to destiny atp is bringing back Wrath of The Machine
Neat - but people replay activities if the loot/build crafting chase is deep/complex enough to be enjoyable
Idk. Nothing about this hypes me up. Are the raid challenge updates retroactive to old content? Or will we only have it in new raids moving forward?
I really do question bungie like, Most of our friends just left, whats left is hardcore players or the casuals who have the backlog of work to do. Most now don't have a group for raiding and wont lfg due to the stigma so could only convince their friends to return to experience it. and now you have to convince your friends to comeback and pay for half the total content they cared about? And longer dry spells with less expansions to make it feel worth it or alive? And no word of marathon or any other revenue stream man Bungie is doing ballet on cling wrap thin ice.
I think a raid and a dungeon is good. Love destiny raids and dungeons. Glad more are still coming.
Bring back the sunset campaign and raids.
I think I would like to see more combatant types over most combatant changes
Maybe a shield focussed Fallen Enemy, some aerial hive combatants, etc
If our abilities and combat style is evolving I think the enemies should too
Risk of Rain mentioned!
How much less $ tho? I feel like they are going to do $40 per expansion. They got away with $30 for the anniversary.
BUNGIE, BRING BACK WRATH OF THE MACHINE AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!
Are we not getting a reprise raid for the final shape year?
So their “banes” are just eximus units like in warframe?
"Nuclear berserking mini screebs"
Are dungeon keys removed for only the future or for all existing ones too?
Welcome back: Shrieker Zombie Doom Eternal TAG 2
as long as it's not another goddamn pyramid raid
I have a hard time believing that they won’t bring back the old raids eventually. Like, maybe not with apollo/behemoth, but maybe in future when they have this new content delivery stuff figured out? It’s just hard to imagine that bungie would leave this content on the table, essentially. Sucks that they won’t mention it with specificity.
Yeah. I really want those back but I also kinda get why they wouldn't go through the trouble of bringing them all back. I dount the amount of player engagement with them would be low. Sure it may bring a momentary spike but I see it being short lived.
No point in making a promisethat might not happen, stuff like that would be too far in the future for them to speak on.
I'm trying to think back and have Bungie promised the reprised raids before ramping up hype for the release of one? Have they put on a road map or anything more than a few months ahead?
They won't
i wish the reprised raid would just be old raids like leviathan
we cant be sure but i would have assumed reprising a raid from old D2 would be easier than one from D1 anyway purely from a technical standpoint so im a little let down they arent doing that
Not even remotely surprised that raids and dungeons are still a thing.
They are the bread and butter of destiny 2 endgame pve and they know that
I'm not too upset about the drop to 1 raid a year, because it's not surprising.
Oh boy, new modifiers? Get ready for Famine, Trickle and other great additions.
Can’t wait to fight Dregs who are singing Nuclear from MGS V
the problem with having 1 raid per year, is it can either come out like Salvation's, or Root
you won't know till you play it.
Thank god you guys, the game is saved
Will we ever get Wrath of the Machine back? Or literally any armor/weapons from Rise of Iron/ Age of Triumph?
Doubt it
You forgot to link the previous article video in the description
Genuinely
I'd just love Leviathan back
It's simple but it was special
I would rather an a modifier that gave us buffs for using outbreak or ratking as a fireteam, than one that forces double primary 🤢
The unit modifiers are pretty cool.
The situation sure is situated. Not that excited for combat modifiers as I've experienced so many games that have systems like it.
