What a beautiful tool! The character that head has from the remaining pits left after the polishing is just remarkable. Nicely done!
When my uncle was little, one of the neighbors would sic his pit bulls after him. Him and that dog were the neighborhood bullies. My grandfather told the neighbor that if he did it again, he would kill that dog the second it got on his property. That dog used to chase my uncle, my dad and their sisters. So a week later the neighbor let that dog loose and as soon as it got on my grandfather's property, he shot it. Well then the neighbor came over and was carrying his. 45 with him. So my grandfather called the cops, went out the side door, got behind the neighbor and when he got behind him, called out 'Hey there!' So the neighbor turned and pointed that gun but my grandfather had an old hickory are handle he kept by the front door. He swung that are ha d,e down and broke the guy's wrist, then swung it and hit him in the gut, then brought it down so hard on the guy's femur, he fractured not only the are handle, but the guy's leg and heel. Cops came and said when the neighbor got out of the hospital, they'd file a report about the dog and the beating and some arrests would be made. Well that was to avoid arresting the guy right then and there and having the county pay for his medical bills. So as soon as he got out of the hospital after a week, he ca..Ed the cops and then wheeled himself over in his wheelchair to watch what he thought would be my grandfather's arrest. But that's when the sheriff pulled up next to him and locked him in his handcuffs, then had my grandfather and my uncles pick him and his chair up and load him in the back of the sheriff's pickup truck and that's how he went to jail about 8 miles away. Sumter County Florida ain't the place you can be stupid and get away with it too long. Best hickory story I ever heard.

Aren't blacksmith hammer handles suppose to be short? Wouldn't a long handle break as soon as you struck a piece of hot metal?
Yes, it's supposed to be shorter than the one he installed but I doubt it will matter... as I don't see him doing any blacksmith work. A head that small is actually meant for light work. 👷🏻♂️ ⚒️ 🇺🇲

Still pitted. Dissapointed.
Best to leave it pitted. However, he should have treated the steel to prevent rusting which it will in spite of the ridiculous polishing. Even a clean, primer layer and black paint would be good.

*Sorry but this was a lazy restore. Other gifted restorers would have welded on fresh metal over the "ACNE" and then sanded it down flush. I would be embarrassed to show that to my high school shop teacher.* 🙄
