I'd be lying if i said i didn't tear up the moment dib yelled "you'll finally be proud of me" and his father, almost like he just realized "dib. You don't have to prove anything to me. Im always proud of you" like they both misunderstood but very much loved eachother since it never seemed about that, but it was always there
I love that scene cause something about the presentation says that Membranes not "admitting it" because he thinks it's a dream and therefore he can say out loud something he normally never would. Its actually just that he's extremely socially detached in way that makes it that he doesn't say things like that without being prompted, he'd happily tell Dib he was proud even if he was awake he just sort of needs to be prodded into it.
@spyrofan9681 it made some connections for me that never seemed to be there, but definitely always felt there because of this scene. Like dib has expressed a lot of pride and admiration of his dad, and being invested in aliens and paranormal was a form of replicating science by trying to prove it, but in something different then his dad, as to impress him. Since membrane is a man of science, he doesnt believe any of it naturally, like dib is trying to find untapped market and show him something new, and membrane just lets him thinking hes just having fun... but, insane likely leaving dib to believe he's ashamed of him where this scene fully proves and convinces membrane just loves his two children very much, as he always treats gaz with the same humorous affections, and shes obviously shown hostile nature to literally everyone else for less and just lets him without any resistance. I might just be thinking a little too deep, but its like the evidence was always there and that finally showed it, and it makes it incredibly touching
I think this more when he obviously comedically neglects them. Not because he doesn’t love them but because he respects they both can handle themselves
Well, they just did. I mean, this movie is awesome. I want a sequel. Or a whole series. Oh, maybe they'd make a one with Dib and Zim being in high school. Still enemies, but on diffrent ground and with diffrent problems. This would be fun.
After seeing this, i feel like if membrane had the right tools and such, he could definitely go toe to toe with the irken empire. If he ever fully acknowledged the existence of aliens

This film brought a lot of closure between Dib and his dad, so im really happy for their respective arcs.
It all came too much, too fast, IMO. They never showed any love or support the entire series, then all came in one movie.
