For the emotional intimacy part, eye contact between husband and wife is also very important because oxytocin (bonding hormone) can start to build already at this stage.

Where in the world do my husband and I start.... second marriage. Both bring baggage. Lots of hurt. 15 years we have been married. Sexual abuse, emotion abuse, clouding our marriage... please help me figure out where to start... we live in a very small community. Not a lot of resources here. And we have tried counseling, but honestly, they have not been trained in what we both feel we need.... please help.

I'm so sorry you both are going through so much, thank you for being so vulnerable. You are right, that is a lot to handle. Ultimately some form of therapy is needed. We have an organization with a large group of licensed therapists online we recommend and hopefully, they could connect you with someone more trained in trauma. Here is our link: faithfulcounseling.com/andrewandamanda. If you are interested in some at home materials, I really like Mending the Soul by Stephen Tracy for helping with abuse from a Christian perspective but if it is too overwhelming a therapist can help walk you through it. I made a video on our channel of all of my favorite Christian book resources, you might find something you find helpful there / th-cam.com/video/9R8mHn-tVog/w-d-xo.html. I pray things start getting better for you both soon!

@@AndrewandAmandaScott thank you. Are there some marital devotions for the both of us we could do together? Regarding sex? Or is that a thing??
