Thank you. The instruction about getting a bit lower and using more bent knees in wind swell was that AHAA moment in my foil progression. So much more fun now
This is a very enjoyable format. Watching this, nibbling on a piece of chocolate, after dinner, with a lovely cup of specialty coffee, thinking of what to try out during the next winging session. Thanks!
Some great tips here. I have been winging for about 1 year , started in the fall 2021 but had a hernia surgery in Feb 2022 and was out of the water until May 2022 then in August 2022 had a neck injury requiring surgery and was out of the water until this past July. Anyway, In Flatter conditions I make about 3 or 4 gybes in row then fall; A couple of days ago I was out at a different spot in pretty high winds and bigger swells. I was only able to make every other gybe? when I was carving from toeside to heelside gybe and into the waves (3-4 feet) the surge for the wave kept breaching the foil. I do use a pretty big foil btw. Gong Fluid 1950 Sq. Cm. My board is a Code 98 liters and i weigh about 190 pounds. That day I was on a Slingshot 4.4 (wind was 15-30) Got up for the most part no problem it was the gybes that I had trouble with. Any suggestions? thanks
Try a smaller foil. When u pick up speed with that large of a front wing, it becomes very hard to control. So much lift is generated. Even in 3-4 ft. Wave. Smaller foil you’ll have way more control
Nice commentaries on what you are doing. I can’t wait to progress to your level of mastery. I have to choose the right conditions at the Georgia coast because if there’s not enough wind at critical tide changes, you will get carried up or down the beach way past your launch location. Because of that, I have forfeited many sessions. I also think my 90L board is sluggish and too big (I’m 110 lbs) and difficult even to get the board unstuck to fly. When it’s warm it’s not always windy around there and 10 mph is usually not enough.
Thanks!!! Ya pretty big board for your size. Matching litres to your weight is good. You get the float east starts. Can paddle back in if need be. Also offshore winds is possible when u can float out.
@@michaelpisarczyk6465@kupalasurfs another thing that's tough here at the ga coast are the strong tides going sideways besides the rough chop and straight onshore winds like at the lakes. Not easy to learn here.
Great video and commentary. That's the kind of riding I aspire to and a big reason why I got into wing foiling! What foil and mast do you find works well for this style of riding and conditions?
Great video and commentary! Aspiring to do this is one key reason I got into winging. What foil and board would you recommend for this type of riding and conditions?
Heading to the shop to pick up my 80L Armstrong FG board this morning. In Hood River I have struggled with standing up (Stinkbug) on my 72L Omen Flux.... So I need a bit more stability. 80L Armstrong, Lift 150HAX, same mast and stabilizer. My progression is: many years of kite foiling and efoiling, many years of windsurfing. Getting jybes now after only 3 months new to sport. Next task is footswitching. This is a valuable video you've made for me. Could you please share where you've got your mast placement? Looks pretty forward?
Great video 🤙🤙🤙💪 just a quick question. You weight 75 kgs and you use 75 liters board? If yes will this be more difficult in swell to get up compared to a board of 65 or 70 liters for your weight?
So the board I currently use and really like is 70L. Also im usually in a wetsuit, which would add some weight. A 5L difference pretty minimal, I would think you’d be fine with 65L
This is the dream! Chaining roundhouses from frontside to backside. Absolutely killer riding! Thanks once again for providing the stoke!
Thank you. The instruction about getting a bit lower and using more bent knees in wind swell was that AHAA moment in my foil progression. So much more fun now
So fun!! Bending at the knees and not the waist it a good rule for any board sport
Smooth riding. You make it look easy! Nice to have such a long ride compared to regular surfing.

Thanks. I appreciate that, made my day!! Go get some 🤙
Thanks.
No worries!

Winging is awesome, I’ve quit skiing and winter and moved to the beach
Haha, foiling sure does set the bar high!

Thanks, You can do it! I use 32” (82cm) mast when winging. I find this to be just right combo of length.
Great video and commentary! Aspiring to do this is one key reason I got into winging. What foil and board would you recommend for this type of riding and conditions?
Hey. The lift 150 HAX is the one I was using I believe. Great versatile wing

Thanks!! It’s just putting in the time…. I put the mast all the way forward.

10:23 wing tip breach caused fall ? Well, that would have been my excuse. 😆
Haaa probably. Getting better at those. The HAX series make it easier and fun to get the tips out!
