  • March 21, 2016 - Day 4 of my second Mooney flying adventure to the Caribbean. We spent all of day 3 enjoy St Thomas and set off on day 4 with two flights. The first was to Beef Island to visit Tortola of the British Virgin Islands. This was the shortest flight of the trip so I decided to post it in full for those who wanted to see things in real time. I sped up the taxiing but everything else is in real time. Video is available in HD and 4K and features a second view inlay. Enjoy.

Excellent use of the belly camera! It's a change from the usual ATC chatter. Thanks for the video! Keep posting updates! -- PB

I used to fly Cessna 172 then Rheims Rocket 178 then my company had a share in a Cessna 310 twin [access over the wing] and finally a 340 pressurised for longer trips into Europe.I did get twin rating biut only for VFR - last Century
Really enjoyed seeing you two young ones eating in the cockpit

I had heard at one point they would not let single engines land in beef island? Winds supposedly, love the Usvis and the BVis

Nice ... but I wanted to see some tourist shots of the town, like you did on St. Thomas.

Being your over water do you carry a life raft? I suppose some of the islands are rather close. I would love to help you put together a course on flying the Caribbean for GA pilots

The A&P and Mooney lover cringed when i saw the gear go up with a tire turning. Brake then gear up. Save you lots of money later on in gear box repairs. Its rather hard on the pushrods in the gear to move the wheel as its rotating. The Gyroscopic Force is rather high. Otherwise cool video and great flying.

There are certain airports with customs. You give them an eta for arrival and you to get there inside a certain window of time. From there you can take back off and fly to your destination.
