Interestingly enough, Iskandar kinda foils EMIYA in some interesting ways. One needs only to look at their Noble Phantasms to see this as they are Reality Marbles, which are reflective of the user’s personality.
Both Ionioi Hetiroi and Unlimited Blade Works resemble battle fields, but while Iskandar’s is full of soldiers ready to fight by his side, EMIYA’s is filled with swords that make the field look like a graveyard.
By that same token, the Reality Marbles also reflect their relationships with people. Iskandar always had his followers while EMIYA was always alone.
Even the way they function in FGO parallel each other. Both are Buster AOE NPs that are used to generate Crit Stars while applying a debuff to the enemy. For Iskandar, that debuff is Defense Down. For EMIYA, that debuff is Attack Down.
Ngl,Iskandar was one of the most badass servent to be ever summoned

To be honest I don't blame AniNews for this, if somebody didn't point it out to him there's no way he would know about this dispute. If more of his men shared his ideals he could even conquer all Asia.
As much as he was a great conqueror, he was also a massive asshole in real life. When his men complained about the long march from Persia to India with no break, he forced them to take the more dangerous land route instead of the safer route by boat, following the coast. He did this out of spite, and it lead to a large portion of his army, and himself, dying of malaria.
@@coffeedq9061 What did you expect from someone who was groomed to be descended from the Gods and being Zeus son himself, but unlike other kings who would cower behind their armies he fought in the frontlines he ate what they ate, they suffer as one there was this one time his soldiers only found a small amount of water to the point it was in a helmet what he did though was he poured it on the ground better to suffer with them, he paid off their debts without questioning how they got them also the reason why they plunder cities, he may be an asshole but he indeed lived up to what he meant by being both "good and evil" also his men and generals were no different they were xenophobic of the Persians as if they were barbarians he on the other hand saw them as equals no other Greek during that time would agree with him, which is why he had his generals married off to Persian princesses.

The character of Iskandar/Alexander has become one of my absolute favorites. I like how he is portrayed in Fate Zero and his relationship with Waver is great. I am a big guy, and I fondly beat up my younger and more naive colleagues on occasion. But in a way that evokes fondness, not mean-spiritedness.
My second favorite character next to Gilgamesh. Awesome video.

You misspelled Ozy. Ozy is literally just iskandar but better in every possible way better nps, better mount and even has his own army of Sphinx that he doesn’t even need to give mana to. Iskandar doesn’t even compare
one other incredible thing about alexander is that he cheated death several times, getting shot by an arrow, assassintation attemps but he kept surviving them only when the war was over he died.
I like how he said Alexander comes from a Greek city and seconds later show the North Macedonia.. A country that has nothing to do with Alexander the great...

In a story that's focused on the tragedy that is Kiritsugu Emiya, the Tohsakas' collusion with the Holy Church, and the overall message that war is a hell that really *has* no winner, Iskandar went from "sideshow" to "legitimately someone I loved to see on-screen".
And to his credit - I'd honestly say, even though he lost the war, Waver Velvet was the only participant who truly came out of the Fourth Holy Grail War a better person than when he came in.
A history student here from india my thoughts on alexander invasion and giving up ' why should we fear those who retreat from the mere twang of our bows '.
Whether he won or not thats a different matter as it is frequently with history bcz we don't have proofs but the fact that he had to give up was due to the military of kingdoms and he even lost to one of the kingdoms when he was trying to retreat . A army is there to fight and if the army decides to give up then that means they have betrayed themselves . The fact that alexander wasn't able to inspire them after giving a great speech shows how devastated his army was feeling coming to india . Everyone focuses on who won vs who lost you should also look at the process that way you can fully understand the scenario.
Oh and i like iskander in fate
Iskandar is my favorite fictional character of all time. It's like he was specifically written to be everything I strive to be as a man
First Fate verse video of yours I have watched on the same day it came out since I have gotten back being interested in Fate verse. I am glad you have now done a video on Alexander the Great. He was such an interesting and amazing person, particular how made Velvet Waver into a better person. Keep making these amazing videos!
A friend and I have comitted to consuming every form of fate media about 2 months ago, so far we have seen fate/zero, all of the anime of the first visual novel, lord el melloi II, and we finished apocrypha yesterday, and we have to say that Waver and Iskandar have truly left a big mark in our hearts, and watching this video showed how special he truly was. Thank you for the great videos, i only found your channel couple weeks ago, but it's nice getting to know more of the servants that feel nice, I am obviously keeping myself spoiler free, because we obviously still have to get to FGO!

That's not Macedon at 1:09, they (inhabitants of North Macedonia) have no correlation to the ancient macedonians, they simply occupy the same land area. The current "macedonians" aren't even greek, they're south slavic. I assume a lot of people will be angry with that mistake.
If you look among his friends, you can find El Melloi II AKA Waver himself. The first time he shown his greatest treasure, Waver at his peak already recognized as his friends.
And another thing, in a sense Alexander reach Okeanos in this war. Okeanos is the furthest ocean to the east and Japan is as east as you can get to a massive ocean.
This came out a year ago! And I'm so mad I'm just now being notified for it!

Dude. You should definetly check out Fate they got Historical and Mythological characters. With some genderswap exceptions.
Almost all servants are based on Historical Figures and Alexander is one of them.
