Im just an emerald kled player but it seems to me you were in a position to take 5 plates and either kill mundo a bunch or deny him a ton of cs, whichever he picks. I get influencing the map, but when is letting mundo back in the game and giving him first tower worth it? Do u only do the roam strat vs tanks? When do you decide to start roaming, what if it’s a trynd/fiora/etc that split pushes a lot faster
there are countless reasons why I roam often in the current meta, way more than before due to all the anti-lane/anti-snowball changes they've done. This game in particular and for most games against tanks, you are unable to kill them after a few purchases without hard trolling as they'll just sit at tower with tabi+couple cheap hp/armor items and be undivable without jungle. I could always attempt to ignore him and try to get some plates, but early game tower dmg is pretty low + only 125 gold each for plating now makes it pretty low reward when I will be getting chunked by %hp based magic damage (very strong against kled due to his low mr/%hp dmg taking scaling off both forms hp together) and likely getting ganked myself. Freezing also accomplishes very little in this scenario as I can't block mundo cleavers from the cs for the same reason, denying some of them just to get a minor cs lead is an extremely minor gain when I end this game and many similar ones with similar/more cs than them anyway as most of the farm you get every game happens way out of laning phase Basically the pros/cons come to this in 99% of matchups against weak tanks/purely melee bruiser champs in this meta: I can deny my already completely worthless lane opponent slightly more gold, while giving up any impact I have on the game elsewhere (aka bot lane) for the first 15ish mins OR I can also gain gold+rune stacks+hubris stacks by roaming and killing the actual relevant, game impacting bot lane/occasional mid ganks and then worry about getting my farm in the mid game while everyone is in the "waiting for next dragon to spawn" phase as any other fights during this period can be ignored as they amount to nothing Laning phase gold + exp has been lowered SO much, combined with bot lane and its champs being so insanely game deciding makes it feel pointless to remain top unless you know for a fact you can chain kill your laner legit 20 times or you have no way of ganking the enemy bot combo (for example they have draven/janna and you have an ezreal/yuumi or something) Sorry for the essay response, I know it might sound crazy but the meta has truly come to this, there was absolutely 0% of my mind that ever thought this mundo would do anything of relevance in this game against either me or my team comp, and that goes for many other tanks/purely melee bruisers. As you can see in this game, he could've literally gained another 3k gold for free and it would change nothing, he can't even look in my direction past a few items and the rest of my comp is too ranged/cc heavy to touch while also dealing untankable damage
also I explain it a tiny bit at the very end of the vid, but yeah it was extra easy because mundo is truly that useless of a champ but it works against many other top laners just by virtue of being top lane
