    The main bakery for Krispy Kreme South Australia has a light out the front that says "Free Donuts". When the light is on (every day, usually around 6pm) you can get a free plain glazed donut. They scaled it back this year to "free donut with any purchase", but it's apparently affordable enough to give away free donuts every day of the year. The cost of those extra donuts is probably very low, as long as they don't take up shelf space.

      The thing about chain shops as that they have the operational capacity to do that easily, not so much for a small owner operator shop- the cost for even a non-specialty is so high, not to mention the labour involved.

      They are focusing way too much on social media. They need to get plugged in to local businesses, schools, police departments, etc. social media is important, but it takes years to build that local customer base. It’s a grind.
      I don’t really agree with any of his advice. They should focus on visiting local schools and businesses, supporting local charities, etc. getting plugged in to local communities is the BEST way to not only build customers, but develop that REPEAT BUSINESS which is key. Every customer counts. If you can get 1 customer to spend $10 a week, that’s like 4-5 HUNDRED a year. It’s a grind.

    Boy does this sound familiar. I owned a kombucha brewery. Hardest part was it was so new to our community we had to educate everyone. There was room for business. We didn't do terrible but after starting the business we added 4 kids. My husband was a mechanical engineer and it was a lot of pressure when we knew he could go back into the workforce. Still miss it. Our customers miss us. It was a very seasonal product. We were making about $1000 in 4 hours at our local farmers markets but we were stretched thin for help and the season would dwindle. Best memories for us though. ❤

    • @DavieFogarty
      @DavieFogarty  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      It sounds like you had an incredible journey with your kombucha brewery, and it’s clear you put a lot of heart into it. There was definitely a moment when kombucha drinks started really taking off, but you’re right-educating people about such a new product can be the hardest part. Balancing a growing family and a business must have been challenging, but it’s great to hear you created such memorable experiences and had a positive impact on your community. Thank you for sharing your story!

    They are doing so much stuff worng with thier business it’s not only the advertising thing
    First the space are too big
    Selling only Doughnut isn’t enough to cover the expenses of this big place
    They need to add an experience Area
    Or something fun for kids to keep the families visiting the place
    You need to add something creative
    Because the place are too big for only selling doughnut
    Or they just should add a breakfast option
    It’s might work better as a restaurant
    As well
    Usually
    Bakeries use a small store for thier business
    I’ve never seen a big place like this one only selling cakes and sweets before
    And I love the fact that they add new stuff on the menu
    It’s a good move

    It would be very interesting to see how long the increased sales lasts for versus how much money was spent on freebies. For such a low revenue potential business I can’t help but think they’ll struggle to pay off the costs the freebies before they need to do another big promo to get people back again.
    Also they need to on top of pastry trends. A croissant x donut was a trend already and it was called a Cronut. Rehashing an old trend and calling it something different likely won’t go down well with the ‘cool kids’ that they’re trying to appeal to.

    I think another thing they can improve on would be the display of donuts, the labels for different donuts, as well as the menu board though. Or better, add a menu QR code. As a person with anxiety, I don’t want to mess up my order when it’s my turn to take the lead in a long queue not knowing what to order.

    The core issue isn't marketing-related; it's fundamentally about location. Your current placement in what appears to be a shopping center is problematic for a donut shop. Most people aren't willing to go out of their way for a donut, and those who do buy are likely making impulse purchases rather than being loyal, repeat customers.
    To address this, I'd strongly recommend relocating to a more strategic spot. Ideally, you want a location with high visibility and easy access, preferably with a drive-thru option.

    • @TroubledGorilla
      @TroubledGorilla 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      It's not a shopping centre though, it's in an opened area space with several food choices, ample parking around and apartments nearby. I usually go there every couple weeks when they host trivia nights. It's a great space

    • @DavieFogarty
      @DavieFogarty  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Social media success can vary, and not every business will go viral. However, even smaller, niche businesses can benefit from consistent, engaging content. It’s about finding what works for your audience and staying authentic. Sustainability often comes from building a community and fostering real connections.

    I think the main problem with this shop that nobody mentioned is that they have overextended. It’s a big shop for very ordinary products that could be sold in a kiosk. They need to figure out a way to either scale back or be inclusive of other agendas that make sense. Eg. Starbucks is not just a place for coffee but to meet up and get work/study done.

    Incredible Video Davie, I'm very happy for them! At the end of the video, I saw that you're ok to help some struggling businesses in the comments!
    I’m facing a very high CPM (+$70) which makes me un-profitable even if my creative had %5 CTR and 5% Conversion Rate.
    I’ve been doing dropshipping 2 years now and now switched to E-commerce because of you! I thought I may get lower CPM if I had an original content shot for my branded product, I tested tons and tons of creatives (Images/UGCs) and all are having very high CPM.
    I’m about to give up the Ecom dream because of this cpm issue, I tried different pixels, ad accounts, and business accounts but that didn’t fix it.
    I hope you can respond with 1 sentence that can help me with this matter.
    Much thanks Davie, you’re my inspo!

      Don't go on CPM go by the profitability and lifetime customer value. CPM is a vanity metrics people get so caught up in. My CPM is $100-$200. You can go broad, narrow, change to LLA, test more creatives, copy, video vs images.
      The most important part is trigger their desires if you 100% now that..
      It does not matter about CPM as my CVR is insane, the AOV constantly improving. EVERY business is different every ad account every niche
