    Hello Grant,
    Your tutorials have really helped me during my Blender begginings and I want to sincerely thank you for that. I even started a youtube channel to share my limited knowledge.
    I listened to a recent podcast you have been in, with Curtis Holt. Never doubt yourself : not only are you an artist, but also a wonderful teacher, a pillar of the Blender Community. That's it, I just wanted to share some positivity.

    Great tour. I am lucky enough to have a large closet in my computer room. I still don’t understand why I save boxes! When our last child moved out, my wife moved me out of the bedroom and into the vacated room to discourage returns. I love my four children, but by age 25 it’s time to leave the nest. I went through the exploratory gaming phase, but I much prefer learning. I am greatly enjoying your Blender courses. You’re a wonderful instructor.

    Just found out about your channel while looking for blender stuff and tablets, very nice setup. Just a reminder that if you buy a resin printer you pretty much need an entire room just for it. Printer + cleaning + curing + tools + an open window because toxic fumes/smell. Worth it though, the quality, lack of lateral movement, ease of removing support and ease of print is fantastic. (Of course you can do without all the fancy stuff but it's so inconvenient you might just stop using it forever)

  • @beezelbuzzel
    @beezelbuzzel ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the tour! If you're interested in showing off sculptures, resin printers really are the way to go. The setup isn't bad at all and the results are are amazing! The downsides are the cleanup and the odor. Though depending on the resin you use, neither of those might be a big deal. Your "box corner" would be more than enough space 😆

    Nice to see your set-up Grant. I have a question about those soft boxes (the lights, not the cardboard ones lol), do they make a loud buzzing noise? I've got something similar, but never use it for that reason. I guess it's using fans to cool the lamp or something. It's nice that you can control it all using remotes. I have the same mic, and use a Cloudlifter to boost its signal. In fact my set-up is quite similar. 😄👍

But yeah, I hear your concern regarding stock setups and your role as an educator. I guess it's that level of understanding that makes you as good as you are at what you do.

    Bought a Huion 1440p display tablet recently, and it works fine for me with a 3080 RTX. Haven't tried it for painting/drawing since i normally use my ipad for that, but it has been flawless so far for sculpting. Was pretty cheap as well, and haven't had any issues with drivers or anything. I did have to use the combined usb/power cable thing though, since I don't have the new super fast USB-c ports on my pc. It wouldn't turn on or connect with the usb C cable, might have been why you couldn't get it to work?

    For cool backgrounds, deviant art is a great place to start. Also, I wanted to ask a question that I’m hoping you or someone else who sees this can answer. I’m an aspiring blender animator and I’m just wondering where I should look for reference pictures and videos for different actions such as run cycles, parkour manoeuvres and striking poses to name a few. Ideally, I’d like to find pictures which show actions step by step like the running animation on your blender animation Udemy course. Any help in my search would be hugely appreciated.

    Hey Grant, I'm super curious about your set-up and how it deals with vibration. I had a similar set-up with my machine sitting on my desk to the side but found it kept crashing/resetting after the slightest bump to the desk itself or my cat jumping onto it(and on top the machine). Since then I brought it back down to the floor but found since I started living on the 2nd floor that it's still not immune to certain vibrations. How do you deal with this? Is it the case? Maybe my connectors are weak? I just upgraded my machine with a new GPU and a couple SSD's.
    Thanks for all you do!

    Thanks for the video Grant.. the Tablet info was really interesting as I'm thinking of upgrading this year from my Wacom Intuos tablet to a new tablet with a screen and I have been looking at the Xp Pen. How is the actual pen itself on the XP Pen? Does it have a paper feel on the screen and would I need to buy extra nibs regularly?

    • @grabbitt
      @grabbitt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never had to replace the nib but it depends a lot on how have you draw. The pen is very similar to wacom

    • @andyengine2661
      @andyengine2661 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@grabbitt Thanks for the reply Grant. It's a shame there's nowhere to test drive these tablets before purchase but I think I'll go with the XP Pen as the price seems to be reasonable. As a side note for anyone interested, I actually have my pen pressure set quite low on my Wacom Intuos as I don't like pressing hard on the pen as it feels unnatural, But due to the surface texture of the tablet the nibs still seem to wear down quite quickly so I quite regularly buy extra nibs. I must say though that the Intuos (medium) has been a fantastic, Low cost introduction to the world of tablets and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a first tablet to anyone. I bought it for £73 in the Amazon Black Friday sale. Anyway, Thanks again for the info, And thanks again for the great video's. 👍☺
