Dud, as a kid my fav band was daft punk, I grew up, they never released anything new. The strokes show up. NOW IM AN ADULT AND IM LIKE HOLY SHIT ITS BEEN 10 YEARS
@@talasemico This is me aha! Daft Punk was brought to my ears when I was about 3 by my dad. It’s the sound of my childhood (amounts other tracks) the only real albums I recal that were released and acc understood the concept of albums was the original sound track to Tron and then RAM. To be reminded that RAM is 10 years old makes me feel so old as an adult aha.
I really wished daft punk would still make music like this. They have extreme talent for music in that genre. I mean of course they are amazing in all genres they did so far. But the last album is music I listen too and It was pure magic. It definitely in the top 5 of my all time favorite albums.
What a great video ! I learn some facts here, about Instant Crush song. But you confirm what a lot of people think : the track was not recorded to be fit on RAM. So « Prime » will be the only unreleased RAM song (Horizon overture isn’t really a new full song). I’m glad Daft Punk we’re here for the pre-The Voidz conception even if the impact is minimal. This video hyped me more than anything now. Can’t wait for hearing this and the rest ! Good job.
its not implausible that the voidz recorded the track pre-2013. I thought the members were part of JC's touring band for his solo album? I suppose they couldve already been thinking about working on music together, and then the daft punk collab came up and it just worked out for them to help on a track too. just my guess
That makes senses around 2011-2013 he was not touring anymore though. So this might be some of their earliest efforts before debuting in 2014. Early that year the voidz were touring without having an album out yet. It’s going to be clearer when the demo is released, though the percussions sound a lot like an early the voidz track.
the album version of get lucky has less plays than instant crush, but not the radio edit, on a side note tho im sure most fans probably like instant crush more than get lucky
I do, but it might be radio curse. I can only unwillingly be exposed to a song I like so many time before it gets old, and Get Lucky was played everywhere I went.
my guess about the voidz credit is that maybe it was only some of the members, or they hadnt officially former yet, because a few of the members of the voidz were in julians solo band, so maybe they tagged along. Or who knows, maybe they just tacked their name on there as opposed to just julian since he doesn't really do his own solo stuff anymore
To be honest I have been waiting for the "Collaborators" interview with Julian since forever... I guess they didn't make one. Still great to get a second track with him though
Okay so we got some more info on the track from this video Daft Punk put out: th-cam.com/video/Hxa-5BZXsto/w-d-xo.html. My theory on the track's origin seems to be incorrect but I'm still left confused on why it's called (2013 Demo) when they say in the video it was from 2012. And that's another thing, the RAM picture book says Julian was at Conway Studios in March 2011, but the video says it was 2012? Confusing. Anyways, that theory wasn't even the main point of the video but I just thought I'd give an update! Edit: Julian DID also do another session with Daft Punk in 2012 so that explains why some of the footage is dated from 2012 in the video Daft Punk put out. Still doesn't explain why the demo is from 2013 tho.
I think The voidz is credited bc even though they’re a band, his solo gig/band is called Julian Casablancas + the voidz. I’ve seen it credited both ways before so I never understood if that’s his solo project or his second band.
Btw, I don’t think this one if it was finished for, would be out as B-Sides. As you saied, they did this demo after RAM recording. This would have no sense to have a RAM single with a non-RAM single. They are not very EP artist !
i would counter that with this being a single release. a single can include additional songs that are not on the album. that could be a remix, a radio edit, or anything like that. so just why not a completely different song? it promotes the voidz in a very unique way and promotes RAM in the same breath. neither the voidz or daft punk would need the song on their albums because the song can just exist as a song and be promoted during the ram era
So what is set to release is still a demo? Julian mentioned finishing it with Daft Punk multiple times, so will there ever be a finished version? Or never gonna happen due to the disbanding?
After listening to the unreleased track, Julian hyped the song of way too much. I think the decision not to put it on the first album, was the better one.
Can’t believe this was unreleased. I haven’t stopped listening to it since it came out
This song slaps. Imagine waiting that long for it as a Casablancas fan, your mind would be blown.

i love Instant Crush.. it's one of the greatest RAM songs

Nahhh Touch is better

It's already ascended to become my favorite DP track. Very much wish that we got to hear a full album collab between both parties.
I thought there was gonna be
i don't think it would have been nearly as special if not for the long wait and amazing music video, going through their history
Thomas is so weird. He just makes the catchiest best stuff, and just sits on it.
This is really interesting! I wish that more releases nowadays still got B Sides and Vinyl Singles.

the RAM album had no structure until a few months prior... it's insane thinking about that
i loved the "there is another"
When the world needed him the most, he finally returned…
Great vid btw :)
Such an amazing track. I could live inside the vibe of this track. One of Julian's top vocal performances. WEEKdayyyyy, WEEEEKdaaaayyy

I was at that Voidz Wiltern show. Would have been euphoric to know Thomas was in the building that night.
Funny how drastically different Julian sounds when singing vs casually talking, and when he does talk normally, he sounds a lot like Mr. Beast lmao

it’s probably 2013 demo just cause RAM came out on 2013 too
They were likely still working on it in 2013, even if it was recorded and developed largely earlier
