Thank you for making this videos! I've been researching a lot of stuff of Daft Punk and the thing that Thomas and Guy-Manuel made on their own, sadly i was born to late to experience things like the Alive tours or even the shop but i find it very interesting. I can't wait for the next parts!
Only just “discovered” this vid and I absolutely LOVE the work you put in. Would ABSOLUTELY love to hear about the rest. Your knowledge is next level and I love all of the nooks you delve into 👏🤖
I saw a bunch of videos about Daft Punk's Ice burg and I refused to watch any of them because a bunch of the people making it didn't really get everything correct. Your the only guy that I can watch about Daft Punk and know I'm getting the best info. Can't wait for all the other parts. Keep it up!
Funnily enough, the video I reference at the beginning which inspired me to make this series was made unlisted like a week ago. I don't know why they unlisted it but it's probably a good thing because I'd hate for someone to go give them trouble after watching my video.
What you were saying fans have been hoping that they would release music for years only to be met with solemn goodbye that got me thinking maybe some stuff happened to them that might’ve caused the disbanding although I did hear rumors that they wanted to do solo careers now and also I recently heard that one of the members has depression that member is Guy Manuel and also I heard that Thomas Bangalter suffered from hearing loss for awhile there are so many rumors about why they’ve split up and one more theory is they’re just not interested in making music together again these are all theories I’ve been hearing
Thomas doesn't have hearing loss, he said he started to get tinnitus during the Cassius Together Tour in 2002, so he decided to immediately go home and take care of his ears. Years later he said he was fine, no permanent damage. Regarding Guy-Man, he produced one track for Travis Scott last year and also talked on French radio with Thomas for the release of RAM 10 so I guess he's been feeling better for a while.
This will be one of the best daft punk series on TH-cam I’m excited to see it throughout I know that we are in good hands when it comes to daft punk content from you so I know the series will be just as good I hope this takes off because you deserve it take your time I’m sure we will all wait with patience good luck to you
21:55 this is when I first heard of Daft Punk, as a 10-year-old kid. Spent WEEKS trying to remember what the band was called, the music video (and especially music,) was SO foreign and exotic to me, I needed to know what it was. Discovery was the first album I bought with my own money, and the first new vinyl record I ever bought, years down the road. This band and music has been around for the highest highs, and lowest lows for me, and I am glad that so many people can come together and appreciate them too ❤
Dude, this video is freaking awesome! I have loved Daft Punk since RAM era, and they led me to leading my absolute best friend in the whole world. This was super informational and it's honestly just nice hearing about something I love so much. Great work! I hope you continue the iceberg someday!
THIS WAS SO FANTASTIC WUB IM SO HYPE FOR THE NEXT PARTS YOURE SUCH A GREAT MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY AND UR COMMITMENT TO DAFT PUNK AND THEIR MUSIC JOURNEY IS INSANELY ADMIRABLE THIS VID FUCKIN ROCKS AND YOU U WONDERFUL💛💛 CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT PART!!:DD
I remember “around the world” being one of the first songs I was ever obsessed w playing on repeat on my little radio in my room all day. It was 97’ and homework had just been released, I was going on 6yrs old. Still today, it’s one of my fav songs and still my fav band of all time. They were always ahead of their time. Truly legends!
Thank you for your time and effort you always put into this fan base, it never fails to put a smile on my face, seeing as Daft Punk content is quite hard to stumble upon these days! Daft punk are a huge part of my life and seeing a well documented video really makes my day. Keep up the awesome work, can’t wait to see what’s next on the iceberg !
I had no idea the Hot Topic merch line was so sought after... Threw out my white tee with the neon-colored helmets a few years ago because the pit stains were so bad from wearing it all the time lmao
I am so happy that you specifically are making this series! I can only think of one other creator who probably knows as much as you or possibly more, DaftLegends a.k.a. Fullmetalanbu, but all their accounts have disappeared. A genuine tragedy. Anyway, yes, I did learn some stuff from this first part. I had never seen those Alive 2006 stage schematics before, I wasn't aware of the 2011 Hot Topic official merch, and I somehow didn't know about the Charlie Chaplin video with note from Thomas.
Glad I was able to show you some stuff you hadn't seen before! I know how boring it can get after being in the fandom so long, you start to feel like you've seen and learned everything
Definently a very interesting video, love it so far. I thought I knew a good amount but there were so many things I had no clue about. Keep up the great work!
Amazing video. Well done, man. I’m glad TH-cam suggestions brought me here, a good suggestion for once 👍 I honestly had no idea the Tron T shirt was worth that much. I still have mine, never worn in my closet. Looks like eBay prices hover anywhere from $110 up to $600. I’ll never let mine go.
Hey man, am not much of a commenter but came across your vid recently and am dying for the next installations. As a guy whose first piece of furniture was a framed Daft Punk poster which I furnished / painted my apartment around would love to see the series finished. This vid itself is severely under viewed and hopefully gets rectified over the coming parts. Keep it up please!
I recently got the random access memory album on cd and is my first cd ive bought with money (got my guardians of the galaxy vol 1 for free) and accidentally bought it on the album's 10th anniversary
Very thorough and enjoyable. I will say the downside for me when it has come to DP is the merch. Either available or not and often collector expensive. I always wished they had someone younger on the team for selling to expand to more merch. A lot of times it wasn't worth it for such little and have found fanart to be that saving grace. That being said I miss my robots and love that you took time to do research.
It's funny, i didn't know a lot of stuff from this video, but not in the way i expected... my knowledge graph from top to bottom of the iceberg would be an upside down bell curve
I doubt if this will be on the iceberg but I remember coming across a supposed Daft Punk album on the internet called "Earthbound" on a couple websites. All traces of it have been removed from the internet.
incredible iceberg, before I considered myself a fan of robots (somewhat obsessed we could say) they really helped me to make my own taste for music are you gonna put the mystery of the original daftendirekt tour / alive 1997 tracklist and the search for the Red Box, Dublin Oct. 1997 bootleg version of the alive 1997 concert on the iceberg? (which supposedly has the most part of the tracklist), that and the initial version of technologic/voyager/too long used in alive2006?
Well the Daftendirektour stuff is pretty much all out there now after the Mayan Theater livestream lol. And yeah I failed to mention the specific differences in the Alive Sumer 2006 set from the Alive 2007 version.
nothing against you or any of the wonderful people who have offered to help but I'm really trying to do this series on my own, it's a passion project of mine really
How so Kayne West didn't know who they were before his remix? There are photos on the web depicting them together unmasked and looking way younger, clearly taken way before 2007
You are incorrect. They first met on August 3rd, 2007 at Lollapalooza according to Thomas Bangalter in a 2007 interview with Pitchfork: pitchfork.com/features/interview/6701-daft-punk/. There are 3 photos of them together unmasked. One was taken on October 7th, 2007 after a Louis Vuitton show, one was taken on November 18th, 2007 at a restaurant in France called La Poule au Pot, and another was taken sometime during Daft Punk's 2007 tour (likely when they first met at Lollapalooza).
I'm not into in daft punk but they're my comfort zone when I don't feel listening to breakcore,Speedcore etc.I like this iceberg because of this I have another tracks to listen on. I can't wait for another parts!!!
In the lore yeah, the robots are from 1999 but in practice the robots were not finished until November 2000. I'll be getting into the lore in a later video don't worry.
Thank you all for watching
Thank you for making this videos! I've been researching a lot of stuff of Daft Punk and the thing that Thomas and Guy-Manuel made on their own, sadly i was born to late to experience things like the Alive tours or even the shop but i find it very interesting. I can't wait for the next parts!

Cant wait for him to start explaining Roulé and crydamoure!
same. ive always felt that both of those are even better than daft punk as a whole. crydamoure and roule are literally the holy grail of house music.
