    Just bought one with a big part of that decision being your demo. Appreciate the real word test. And it worked as shown!

    problem with this tester which i have one is that you have to input the type of battery and rating of which in our place has no rating, no date of manufactured and cca for most batteries, which is difficult to guess

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but that is all battery testers. They have to know what they are starting with so they can determine capacity.

    We have one of these at work because we had the crappy one that has the radiator. Well we had to come up with our own procedure because we do AGCs which is not your typical car battery but it works quite well. We never get to see the in car analysis like this so that's pretty cool. A little more features than we need. However, also at work I filled and charged a motorcycle battery for a paint machine so that was nice to select the cranking amps to see if it was in good range.

    Thanks for the in depth review. I worked my way through college 25 years ago as a mechanic. The scanners and testers are miles ahead of my OTC OBD 1. I've recently picked up a Bluetooth scanner and I'm now looking to replace my antique carbon pile tester. Looks like this will be the one! Thanks again for the help.

    Nice review. Just yesterday I ordered their original (less frills) model BST100 as I caught it on a special promo sale for $22.
    Will be about 2-3 weeks before I receive it, but that BA301 model already has me feeling like the 'poor kid on the block'. lol

    You said "for techs just starting out"; you should think about talking/and showing Harbor Freight tools so that techs won't get ripped off too much by the Snapon (and other trucks) too often. Harbor Freight has really stepped up to the plate; give you one example, Snapon is selling a 1/2" drive battery impact I forget the exact amount, but I figured it out and it costs more than the combined price of Harbor Freight's "Earthquake" 20v 3/4"+1/2"+3/8"+grinder and if you do buy all four of these you'll have both 3 20V batteries and chargers as opposed to only one each from Snapon. You might be able to see some of them on the few of my videos.

      This is very "true" I have much from HF that I don't use "every day" and it's great to have it around the garage.... ie... I have a bearing press I got at HF on sale for $69.

    • @ohger1
      @ohger1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      HF tools are OK for the weekender or for an emergency one-use deal. They don't stand up to daily use. Snap-On isn't cheap, but the tools are top notch and won't damage a fastener like cheap tools will.

      I’m not sure if I would trust Harbor freight power tools. But I would say their hand tools like sockets, wrenches , and ratchets, etc. have been great for me. With power tools I would encourage new techs to invest into Milwaukee . But like I said I can’t speak on harbor freight power tools since I don’t own any.

    I bought the BA301 (same exact model). I tested my motorcycle battery (12V) and it tested "BAD/REPLACE". Charged and tested again next day and now test says "GOOD BATTERY". I suggest you stop misleading people and taking bribes from Ancel

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Clearly you have no idea how to test a battery. Of course you are supposed to charge a battery before condemning it based off a test like this. Bribes from Ancel? Bud, they don't sell batteries, so where is the kickback? Take your lack of knowledge and crummy attitude and go somewhere else.
