I remember actually flying out of Tempelhof Flughafen (to Brussels) and it's such a surreal experience because it's nothing like what modern day airport are like. It was similar to waiting for a train rather than a plane. How times have changed. I do hope they'll keep this place as an open park for everyone to enjoy... considering the terrible histories that comes with this place. It's better for the Fengshui and the karma.
Haha, I had the same experience once, it was unbelievable "efficient" I would say nothing like a regular airport experience. Its great that they found nice ways to repurpose it as an open space. Especially the parks and so on make it shine again.
The people of the neighboring districts Neukölln and Tempelhof voted to keep this place as it is today with an enormous majority at the time the construction of buildings was planned on a third of this vast space. So there is hope that this will survive in its current state. I think a lot of people would get really rebellious if the mayor or city planners would attempt to ignore this poll and so would I, as I live nearby.

Fingers crossed that it will stay as it is. It was really a hidden gem for me as an outsider.
@@JapanPotato I think the hauptstadt is going to sell it at some point to a tech company. At least that's what all my projections are leading to.
