Even though I'm not from Sacramento I rooted for her during the pageant. She is so poised and so well spoken! I have 6 daughter's and I would be proud if they had her compassion and dedication.
Awesome speech. Proud of you for standing up to what you believed in. U got me crying when you spoke about the poor children of Laos and Thailand. I too bad the opportunity to go there and witness the same thing and not a Christmas go by that I don't think of them and how I had bond w them and how I wish I can help them more. We Hmong have to come together and then the children back in Laos and Thailand. And one last thing. Lilly you the nail on the head when you said in Laos and Thailand ppl love one another. Not like here.
This is AMAZING!! We need more Miss Hmong Pageant to be like this. Not for the fame but to help more.
Lily Vang is a beautiful hmong woman. She speaks the truth unapologetically, and that is what makes her so different. She is a true role model because of her experiences. Everyone needs to listen to this farewell speech. This speech will only be the beginning of a woman who will make a change in the hmong community. Well done Lily!

I am so proud of you. you inspired me so much. I can hear the passion in your voice. and see the love through your eyes. we need more Miss Pageant like you. stand for what you believe in. I started crying when she started to talk about seeing for herself.
Very genuine speech. Lily you are an inspiration to more people than you know. You define what is it to be a true pageant. Despite what the mainstream media says what you should look like or act like; you overcame these adversities and preservered. You are paving the road for the many women out there.
There is something wrong with our sponsored pageant program. Why miss hmong california had to do this on her own? In my opinion, whoever hosted the new year competition should promise to reward a larger amount of prize and sponsor these beautiful young ladies in their one year reign activities as do the American pageant winners. I understand we are small but it has to be this way. Cannot have winners do their charity using their own money. if that is the case, what's the point of winning? All new years did was award them with a prize and that's about it. I say that is a rip off from these young people. use them to advertise for the new year attracting people to attend the new year and put on a several day show but in return no financial sponsorship for pageant charity events throughout the year. no wonder we are not successful. we want all to ourselves. so sad our young people still participate each year and they know they are being used. pageant is not the only one being rip off by hmong new year each year. wake up everyone.

Lily, you accomplished so much during your year long term as Miss Hmong CA 2016 and you are truly a fabulous role model to many of us. You've paved the way for many young Hmong women and showed that there is more to a person than just their appearance. Just as importantly, you've showed that there is more to Miss Hmong CA than just the title. I admire your courage, strength, passion, and love for everyone and the future of our Hmong people. I like that this farewell speech was so different from other pageant girls. It's hard to be a pageant winner and be expected to do a lot when there is no support for the winner.
