    Do you cover the top of the vflats to control the spill over the top?

    Please note: Someone just pointed out that I mistakenly called out "4x4" v-flats when what I meant to say was "4x8" v-flats. So FYI for the record 2 4x8 foot v-flats are what I used.

    Can you provide a link to the exact scim you are using please? I bought a westcott 3/4 stop and its basically transparent, not much diffusion

    Hey Michael! Thanks for the great info. For the 8x8 scrim that you used, was it full stop, 1/2 stop, or 1/4 stop diffusion? When I look for the scrim jim it has those different levels of diffusion but I really like the look that you had here for your images. Thanks!

      Hey Joe! I was using a Sunbounce 2/3 stop screen.

  • @marsdahustler
    @marsdahustler 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    you can also do this w/a Octabox over 6ft from Elinchrom or ProFoto if you put inner and outer diffuser, correct? That should wrap light around the subject.

    If you don't want to use the v flat but use 2 umbrella on each side of 8 or 10 foot silk
    Light will still very soft. What is your opinion?

    • @mcorsentino
      @mcorsentino 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't tried that but in my opinion as 2 4x8' v-flats and an 8x8 scrim are creating a massive broad source they'll do a better job creating this effect. Give umbrellas a try and let me know how it goes.

    Great video! Do you use the scrim sun bounce 2/3, 1/3 or 1/5th?

    Hi Michael this is really great. I was wondering what power setting do you have the lights at if they are 1000s? Full , medium, low?

    • @mcorsentino
      @mcorsentino 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The power setting will depend on your desired aperture. In the studio I typically meter for light between f11-f16.

    Hi there, I was wondering- I only have three lamps (500w) but also wistro ad180, could I add this to the bunch and just power it up to full power to make it the forth one?

    Do you think this would work with only 3 foam boards and a 4x8 foot scrim?

    Roughly how big of a space do I need to pull the lighting setup off? How much space is between the model and the lighting setup?

    • @mcorsentino
      @mcorsentino 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's flexible and that varied. The more space you have the better. This shoot was accomplished in a 21x23' foot space. Sometimes the model was very close to the scrim and other times 8-10' feet away.

    What camera and lens did you use for this shoot? I particularly like the full body image with slight distortion that provides the fashion-esque look

    • @mcorsentino
      @mcorsentino 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe it was an 80mm on a medium format body with a .3x crop factor sensor, so around 100mm.

    You said the V flats were 4x4' but they look like 4x8' in the photo. 4x8' would make more sense if your scrim is 8x8'.
    Since you said the Profoto packs were turned way down would it have worked just as well with one pack and only two heads?
    Did you put anything on the top of the scrim and V flats?

    • @mcorsentino
      @mcorsentino 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good catch, thats my bad! 4x8 is what I meant to say. 2 4x8 flats are what I used. Two lights would be difficult to make work regarding even top to bottom full figure light coverage, thats where stacking 2 heads in each corner is key.

    Beautiful and very informative! super nice look! I also loved your b&w conversion, very nice and smooth. Do you use any special plug in or method to achieve it ? thanx from Italy

      Hi Claudio! Thank you for your kinds words, glad you enjoyed the tutorial and images. Regarding the black and white conversion it was done using one of the presets in Capture One Pro 10 and then adjusted to fine tune.

    Can you do this with a octabox or an indirect litemotiv from elinchrom?

      For this particular technique nothing beats a scrim.

    What is the shade of gray that you are using on the background?

    • @mcorsentino
      @mcorsentino 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was shot on white cyc wall. It appears light gray because I didn't light it separately.
