I made this installation on my Suzuki S40 (exactly as described) and it works perfectly. Thank you very much for sharing this video. Without it, I would never have succeeded. On my S40, I had to set to 4 cylinders to have the right RPM reading.

All glory to you mate. For correct RPM signal 130kOhm and 100nF work well for my Suzuki SV650 1999. Speed sencor can fit with original :-) THANK YOU

130kOhm and 100nF not work well for my Suzuki SV650 1999. Its work only to 4000 RPM. If i go more than 4000 RPM, tachometer hand fall to zero

Hey there fellow Hyosung rider, I've got the same speedo on my comet 250, and the only thing i couldn't figure out was the RPM. I have a wire attached to the front coil and it goes straight to the dash, but its not working. where does that negative go to? the one you talked about in the beginning.
    Thanks man

      Vinny da Comet
      Hi dude.
Yep. I got the same wire going originally to the genuine tacho. A diode blinks to the signal, but the chinese tacho doesn't read it.
So I got signal from the negative wire from one of the coils(the rear as it is more convenient to get acces to.I got 2 coils on the GT 650)
Afterwards follow as per the video. 100 nanofarad capacitor=> take the signal to the tacho . Then ground the wire with 15 kohms.N.B. Ground the wire after the capacitor and after the wire you took to the tacho.
Let me know if it worked for you.

menu 3 i think is 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine. i have put this on single cylinder motorcycle and when its set to 2 in menu it shows way to high rpm and when set to 4 it shows same rpm as original tacho.
oh and make sure to put magnet on wheel in correct direction, it took 2 days for me to figure that out :D.

    • @knowhowbulgaria4245
      @knowhowbulgaria4245  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi.
Nope. It is 2 or 4 cylinders.
The reason for high rpm's is the wasted or not wasted spark bobbin type.

Thanks! Where did you get information? I've tried many setups, negative to positive puls conversion with a transistor, ... I ve checked the output with a led, and it blinked with the RPM. But still the tacho didn't work. I opened the tacho in hope to get more clues about what exactly the tacho expected to receive as signal. If you have more info, please share! Thanks a million! Btw I used this on another heavily altered honda bike.

barttrabbarttrab Hi. Sory. I do not understand what is the question.
I got info from all over the net. TH-cam. Google etc. I don' t even remember :).
Please be more specific. I will do my best to help you.
      Thanks
      P.S.
With diode my blinked as well. Also there was original wire from the motor for the signal to the original tachometer.
But the chinese tacho do not recognise it. So I put a condesator of 100 nanofarad and resistor of 15 Koms.
If does not react, play arround with diffeent condenser and resistors.

    • @barttrabbarttrab

Sorry :) i try to understand why this setup works. I also tried different setups. But never found what the tachometer expected as signal. I hoped find out how and why this works. I suppose the tachometer expects spikes in place of pulses. I have a old cb550 with a electronic contact conversion. Many people tried on this bike to find out how to make it work. I have some electronic knowledge but not that much. This came to me as a surprise that it worked! I haven't tested i thoroughly yet. But it looks that you found the right way to make it work. So a big thanks for sharing!

      Hi.
      Capacitor 100 nanoFarad.
2 wires come out, because I took the signal after the capacitor to the tachometer wire on the chinese device, and after this this split I needed to ground the capacitor with 15 kOhms.

    • @husker3345
      @husker3345 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Knowhow Bulgaria thanks for your answer. I'll try on my 79 xs750. Why do we need to split wires here (didn't know it was possible) when device is already grounded (green wire) ? Also I didn't get why capacitor is needed, maybe to smooth up the current after the coil ?

Aaaand it didn't work, the needle didn't move at all :( I measured tensions oscillating to negative from positive. I tried the spark plugs strategy but I didn't get anywhere aswell :(

      Hi Ramiro.
Checking the options, I see only the screws on the back which, most probably, are the only thing holding it together. Maybe this way you could open it. But keep in mind that once opened you will need some good sealent or silicon to avoid moisture when closed.
Btw. Appart from screws, some times , these electronic devices are sound/heat soldered.
      Good luck.

Thats probably where the waters getting in, but be warned, mine looks like superglue around there so it will not want to come apart.

      Hi.
1-Take signal from COIL negative/minus (N.B.one of the 2 small wires comming out, check which one is minus.NOT the big one.)
2-On that wire solder capacitor. In my case 100 nF (nanofarad) worked.
3- After the capacitor take signal of the revolutions to the wire from the tachometer, you are installing.
4- I used 15 kΩ (kiloohms) to ground the wire comming out after capacitor.
I hope it helps. Let me know if you need more explanation.
Check my other video , I explain there the fuel gauge and how I grounded to stop flashing.

      Please try this.
      1. Take signal from MINUS/Negative pole of one of the coils.
      2. Solder 100 nanofarad nF capacitor.
      3. After the capacitor take the signal to the tachometer wire from the gadget.
      4. Solder 15 kOhms resistor AFTER the capacitor AND AFTER the wire you took to the tachometer and ground it to the batery minus/negative. (First try different resistors if it is not stable/working -50, 100, 130 kOhms. One guy managed with 130)
The you can try with different value capacitors. ( One guy managed with 6.8 nF)
Set the gadget menu depending on your coils type.
      Mine is without wastes spark.
So my settings are for 4 cylinder engine, even if it is 2.
