Rafinha Bastos is an incredible comedian. It takes a lot of talent and effort to do what he is doing. I hope this can inspire talented brazilians to go to other countries and rock like him.
First-time watcher of the podcast, and only tuned in because I saw a Rafi on a TH-cam short clip, thought the bit from the short clip was good comedy and looked him up on the TH-cam search and the podcast with Rafi as your guest. Hilariously, I actually was not going to watch the podcast cuz I didn't recognize you guys, and by the time I was done preparing my dinner and able to get to my phone to switch the video, I was able to listen to a few minutes and became interested and after the episode I got hooked. First time listening to this, Noam Dworman, I loved your perspective of comparing to America to an anorexic. So true! Thank you for standing up for this country. I agree with perspective, having had an abortion due to my second daughter growing without a brain. About the safety thing, Rafa is from são paulo. The big capitals are pretty violent, true. Brazil is indeed one of the most violent countries in the world. But living in middle sized towns under 1mi inhabitants is different. I lived in two cities with about 500k people and I had the same piece of mind he describe having in the US. Where I live you can find people jogging 11pm with smart watches on their wrists without a care in the world. Problem is, a lot of capitals are pretty dangerous, particularly some very famous ones, like Rio and Salvador. But a lot of provincial middle sized towns (400k+) are really not. Even São Paulo, there is a lot of crime, but not really violent crime like there is in Rio. São Paulo has actually less homicides than Los Angeles or San Franscisco. New York is a particularly safe city, specially for its size. One of the reasons is that organized crime moved to the north of the country, where they control the drug traffic through the borders. Now it is the northern state capitals that are super violent.
Rafinha tells things about Brazil that arent accurate (i like him, but he is full of lies in this episode), specially when he talks what is considered gay pratice and women preferences in bed.
