thefeeps dude it’s seriously crazy. I feel like In Utero literally was a whole new different genre of music, never heard anything else that sounds like it. Such a shame they weren’t able to expand on that new frontier of music. They were just scratching the surface.
Not sure if I am mistaken, but I believe that even Metallica wanted to sound like Nirvana in at least one song, "Until it sleeps", the video is really look alike "Heart shaped box"...
@@benjamindevlin4057 Ive said in other comments. I would love to know what the album after this one would have sounded like. This transformation from Nevermind was the future of rock. I feel like this band still had their greatest album ahead.
mark devlin agreed. i LOVE this riff.. this is definitely one of my favorite songs of theirs.. this and scentless apprentice. hell, all of in utero is fantastic. i mean, nevermind is cool and all but in utero is probably my favorite. i'm so glad kurt was around long enough to record that album. such a shame he's gone.. with in utero being better than nevermind, i can only imagine how great a 4th studio album would've been.
+Tim Ritchey it's weird. nevermind has all these classics making it one album, in utero's album itself is classic, not every song but the way the album was shaped.
BlitzedPig Sounds awesome. Just think about the fact that you've seen him with a clarity that no camera or screen can provide. You've actually seen him. Amazing.
This is my favorite Nirvana song. I feel like it's what they're really all about without the label pressure or big radio sound. I can't say I've ever disliked a Nirvana song though. My son is only 8 but he doesn't get it. "What is that screeching from the guitar daddy? Why does he scream like that?". I tell him when I was young that was awesome, it was the sound of my generation. Then he says "It hurts my ears". SMH

Man, after neverminds success kurt just stopped giving a fuck. It's like he tried on purpose to write songs the mainstream wouldn't like. This one is a fucking masterpiece though. Between the main riff and the lyrics in the chorus, Kurt really portrays his misery to a T here.
Andreas Hälsing Maybe that was harsh, just don't be such a fucking dick to people for interpreting art and it's meaning. It's cool if you don't agree with my interpretation, but I would at least expect you to provide some explanation as to why or an alternative opinion on the intent behind the music.
I've read before that Kurt sometimes brought riffs to practice & Krist and Dave would improvise to them, allowing Kurt to build them up. I'd not only love to sit through a practice session of that, but also hear just a bit of the stuff they did that never became anything because they forgot it. Nobody had/has a musical ability combined w/the thought process like Kurt. Not just w/lyric & vocal arrangements, but also the ability to structure melody/transitions tastefully. It's a shame he didn't realize his potential, and that nobody in his circle realized his mindstate in time to reverse the path he was on. Although, w/a dude like Kurt, maybe it would've just delayed the inevitable. RIP KDC.
Yeah, people really frowned on drug use and mental health stuff back then, and were extra judgmental. If attitudes had been different there might have been a better outcome. Kurt was a fabulously artistic soul and folks were either busy looking at his demons scowling or trying to make money off his artistry. Who in his life TRULY loved him??? As fans we love 💕 the way his art makes us feel. But… who in his circle truly LOVED him? The thought makes me sad
Interesting point of view. I think that is it frowned upon not believing he has a precious voice and still being a huge nirvana fan (me hehe). He surely doesn’t have the widest range, but his voice is extremely emotional. The rasp, the slight yodeling, the changes from whispering to screaming... is what really gets this emotions to the fans
Ahh the irony of Kurt Cobain ... notice how in this song he does a solo parody with the guitar heroes and their acrobatic solos, when doing the solo in a relaxed way and mending with a totally accurate and furious riff ... one of the best songs of this absolute genius ...
imagine if this video was filmed by time travellers who had a camera of this era and used it to blend it but to capture the footage, come back and upload it

this is a great song. kinda creepy sounding. along with the lyrics. "look on the bright side, suicide." yes, Kurt was clearly suicidal. it is obvious in the lyrics and the music what was on his mind. I don't think he was happy, no matter what good things he had in his life. He mentions suicide, killing himself, and his lyrics are filled with depressive, dark messages. constantly talking about guns. he was a great musician, but sad inside
The more abstract songs from In Utero, like 'Milk It', still sound like the future of rock n roll.
