I remember the only triple-triple bingo I played over the board (at university) had 3 Us, and it was kind of hilarious. I swapped 6, keeping only a C, and drew BSSUUU. My opponent put down REACTIVE, and then moved the C up to make CREATIVE, saying he didn't want to give me an R in the triple-word lane, but the C was just what I needed for SUCCUBUS, which scored like 150 points... Had he played REACTIVE, there wouldn't have been enough room for me to play it!
@@st.videoss Apparently, it's one of the rarest 8LWs playable without blanks. It's followed only by crazy things like SUCURUJU and SURUCUCU which might not even be valid in TWL.
My point changes: K to 4, V to 5 (maybe 6!), C to 2, G to 3, U to 2 (I had it higher earlier), H to 3, J to 10, Z to 8. Distribution changes: remove one G, add one C, remove one V, add one K, remove one I, add one S. Will, I suggest you should make your recommended point and distribution changes after the remaining letters for “Know a Letter” are finished.
In the older days of the Wnglish language, the letter W didn't exist, instead the aound the W makes was written as UU (hence the letters name). I wonder how that would have changed scrabbles history if the letter W was never adopted in english.
I actually feel the Y is both a weak vowel and a weak consonant, perhaps functioning as a vowel slightly more often than as a consonant. And a sometimes-deadly weapon despite it. Classified as a consonant due to its point value, by many.
I would love to see a video on the Y too as it’s unique for that. I also am of the seemingly unpopular opinion that the Y tile should be valued at 3 points as it’s more common than FKVW, is a great letter for end hooks, and its dual function can lessen the damage of a vowel or consonant heavy rack
It has been a while since Will's last update of the better know a letter series. I'd be glad to see a video on the letter Y. It is the only letter in the alphabet that can be used as both a consonant and a vowel. 😄
Can the next letter be S? Everyone knows its power comes from pluralization, but there's got to be more depth to its powers. I'm guessing the S will be five stars. If you could revalue the tiles, what tiles would you revalue and what would be the new values? Here's my revaluing. B - 4 points C - 1 point G - 3 points H - 3 points J - 10 points K - 4 points U - 2 points W - 5 points Z - 8 points Also, [EXPLETIVE DELETED] THE WU COMBINATION!
Thanks for this and all your other videos, Will! My friend and I have a gentleman's agreement when we play over the board to turn all of the V's and U's into 6 more blanks because we hate those letters so much, hahaha!
@@KeyholeGod Maybe a bit worse, but 1) it's already terrible 2) you'd be more ok with burning a blank for a non-bingo Q play since there are so many more in the bag. You can always make the blank a U!
Halfway through a game, I once played off three tiles, leaving STR?. I drew U-U-U. There was an open "C" on the board, but I missed USUFRUCT. A few weeks later, I lost my marriage, then my job, then my confidence. I have been slowly rebuilding my life ever since.
I had a game recently where i left DEN on my rack, drew EEQ , thought i was dead, and the last tile i drew was a U. Getting my first Q bingo was awesome
You should make a Scrabble tile tier list. I don't know exactly what it would look like, but I know that S would appropriately be S tier. Not sure if ? should be in S tier with it or in its own SS tier.
I knew that the letter u was pretty bad the moment I saw it in a story written in highlights magazine when I was young. Despite this, the word unusual has three of them... Which ironically describes the vowel itself.
In better know a letter series, the following letters are missing: A, B, D, N, P, R, S, T and Y. Any chances that you would make videos about these letters during future period of time?
By the way, would you ever consider doing subscriber games or something on twitch sometime? I would love to get destroyed by you in a game some time :)
Hey Will - huge fan of the channel. Any chance that if you make more of these you could make one on the S or Blank tile? Obviously they're very good but I feel like I can't use them unless I bingo with them, creating some clunkyness on my rack. Would love to see an opinion from one of the best scrabble players out there. Thanks!

That is really cool, thank you for sharing! Man succubus must be an uncommon bingo

Here we are, a video on an underrated vowel finally understood with utmost utility. The word YUZU is another two-U word.
Overrated
This is an awesome series! I hope you pick it back up again sometime. I would love to see a video about Y, a consonant that also functions as a vowel

Technically, the ‘W’ can be a vowel in these words: crwth and cwm.
the U really should be worth 2 points
Thanks. The list of words with two Us is like manna from heaven and thanks to the other posters for adding to it!
UWU
But seriously, I'd like to see U rebalanced to score 2 points.
I'll check the cross-tables API to see synergy between SU and a third tile.

B - 4 points
C - 1 point

J - 10 points
K - 4 points
U - 2 points
W - 5 points
Z - 8 points

This video got recommended me to right after the Q video
Halfway through a game, I once played off three tiles, leaving STR?. I drew U-U-U. There was an open "C" on the board, but I missed USUFRUCT. A few weeks later, I lost my marriage, then my job, then my confidence. I have been slowly rebuilding my life ever since.
Damn. Single tear rolling down my face.
Wtf is an usufruct bro
hey! not sure if you're still doing these videos, but if you are, i'd love to see a video on the blank tile!
I hope to get back to finish this series sometime! Thanks for watching!
Here's my valuing on each Vowel tile in Scrabble
A-5 points
E-4 points
I-3 points
O-5 points
U-1 point
I had a game recently where i left DEN on my rack, drew EEQ , thought i was dead, and the last tile i drew was a U. Getting my first Q bingo was awesome
I would love to see a video on B! Im wondering if there are any redeeming qualities for a tile that seems like it's undervalued at only 3 points
I acknowledge that the rules dictate Tuque is a word, but I reject that. The spelling is Touque! And I'll fight you at timmys for it!
PLEASE make a video on the blank or S
Weakest bingo vowel.
Extremely strong fluid vowel.
As someone who relies heavily on bingos I despise the u
You should make a Scrabble tile tier list. I don't know exactly what it would look like, but I know that S would appropriately be S tier. Not sure if ? should be in S tier with it or in its own SS tier.
Would buffing U to 2 points break the balance of Scrabble or would it give U the push it needs to not be a burden half the time
You should continue this series! What about the blank or s
I knew that the letter u was pretty bad the moment I saw it in a story written in highlights magazine when I was young. Despite this, the word unusual has three of them... Which ironically describes the vowel itself.
This damn letter has been screwing with me!
1:44 hehe, when U have good bingo tiles
In Norwegian, WU is one of the best words
It's not a letter but please do a video on the blank tile!

I definitely expect to revisit these sometime!
I usually don't comment, but can't wait!!

my favorite word (Kuru) has two Us
OSC IS EVERYWHERE
This is exactly why U is my least favorite scrabble tile
Can't wait for UWU. Will that change your final grade for the U? :D
The bingo tile
Exactly that's why U is my least favorite vowel in English
The Q is the best fluid tile of any letter. 🤓
The Q is the worst bingo tile of any letter. 😭
what if we changed the Q to "Qu", and swapped one of the 4 U's for an S...!
Hamburger

Weakest vowel.
I disagree will, I got one would rather see a q on my rack than a u
The q is only really useful unless you have a u with a few exceptions.
