    I have recently made a newer launchpad cover tutorial video - that is, a more compact, streamlined launchpad cover tutorial. If you want in depth and thorough, then you should continue to watch this series BUT if you want quick & to the point then take 10 minutes to watch it here: th-cam.com/video/lSLN-jbw_OQ/w-d-xo.html

      Hey, InspirAspir i want to ask you something, as I see in the video you use an ios based computer, i have a windows machine and i almost every time get an error when i connect my launchpad, do you think i should buy a macbook (thinking of air 2017, with 2.2 Ghz CPU). What do you suggest?

    • @si6ck
      @si6ck 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to get the USB Connection thing. Go to the launchpad website, log in, look at the launchpad you ordered and all of the downloads are there.

    Part 4 of the "How to Make a Launchpad Cover" is now out! Thank you all for being patient as I make/edit/render/upload these videos while being in college. I thank you for understanding if it takes a while to upload each part! Anyways, hope you enjoy this part, and hopefully the next part will be out soon.

      I feel like an idiot now that I know that you can stack chords. to think that i used ~7-8 chains to light up my whole launchpad. *throws self out the window*

    u explain things so clearly nd step by step,,,, very few people do so... in my opinion u r THE best. u explain in details.. that's what we r looking for on youtube. your launchpad tutorials r so much helpful. there is no othr vdos on launchpad the way u hv explained to us. they start from the middle or somewhere else which are not explained in detail or we can not understand really what is happening or from where to start.
    thankx a lot brother for making such tutorials.

    Do you recommend that I get a launchpad as a beginner? I own a numark mix track pro II but I want to start making my own music.

    • @InspirAspir
      @InspirAspir  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends what you would use your launchpad for. The launchpad is very good for performing live, and decent as a production tool. Meaning, if you'd rather create music and then perform it live for a crowd/record your performance for a video, I highly recommend the launchpad. It will take some time to get used to, but once you understand it, it can be extremely versatile. On the other hand, if you are going to focus more on music production, the launchpad may not necessarily help you out too much and may be a waste of resources. It all depends on what you think you'd use it for :D

    is this better than doing the lights the "old" way? I find that more effective. Is it faster doing it this way? How do you do it?

    • @proesn7792
      @proesn7792 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the "old" way.

    • @IcyPenguinNinja
      @IcyPenguinNinja 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh, I mean the light effects with the notes and stuff. I think that's more effective, but is this any better?

    • @proesn7792
      @proesn7792 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the light effects with notes will be definitely faster and easier, but this way is for people who don't have that. Also, if you want your project file to be capable of being played by everyone, this way would be better.

    • @IcyPenguinNinja
      @IcyPenguinNinja 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ohh, that really sucks.. was getting real comfortable with the light effects with notes.. and it can't be played by everyone :/. Guess I'll have to learn the chain light effects then?

    • @proesn7792
      @proesn7792 8 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @aefumo
    @aefumo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    You've made learning how to make light effects so much easier to understand. Although it's probably simple, I wanted to ask how to make a light effect where you push a button and that singular button cycles through a spectrum of colours. THANKS ISPIR :D

    • @InspirAspir
      @InspirAspir  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to hear it! To make the effect you're talking about, you can follow the same general steps as the effect around 13:30 (where you can make your arpeggiator cycle through as many notes as you want there to be colors in your spectrum). Then after you place a MIDI effect rack after that, you can create separate chains for each "note" where each chain will have a different velocity (color) and a pitch MIDI effect to offset that light onto your button of choice.
      Essentially this will cycle through multiple colors on one single button, giving the illusion of a rainbow pattern :D

    idk how to add every soundfile for the song im doing. Im doing the song alone by marshmello but i am only limited to doing 8 audio tracks and there is over 20 parts of the song so how would i add all of them to make the cover

    • @InspirAspir
      @InspirAspir  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can add the samples for a given stem one at a time, i.e. add in all of your drum samples where you'd like and never use that again. Add in a layer of your leads, sample them and add them into your launchpad, then never use that layer again. In theory you only ever need to use two tracks in Ableton for a cover, one for your lights and one for your instrument rack (where you can put the stem layers in session mode for temporary storage)

    How do I chord the 3rd button with +42? It only can +36 plz answer me thank you a lot.

    • @InspirAspir
      @InspirAspir  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! One way around this is to add in a "Pitch" midi effect at the beginning of your chain and add the necessary offset. This essentially shifts the "base" of your effect to however many buttons you decide. So instead of originating at the button you press, if you set your pitch to +5, the light effect will stem from 5 buttons above your original button (and all following chord effects will then be shifted by +5 for example).
      So for your issue, if you want to reach +42 but can only get to +36 by using chords, add a pitch in front of your chords midi effects with an offset of +6 (at the very least)

    I need some help with stems. The problem is, I don't know how to use them. I have one part of the song, "Lead Vocals" But I want to add parts, Like the organ and synth. You never really explained, or maybe It's me who didn't understand. I really need some help. Because my song is really boring at this time.

    HI InspirAspi,
    Thank you very much for creating this tutorial. I followed the steps from Part 1 until here, the final part. I am now working on my first cover on my launchpad. I am looking for a solution on the Drum Rack as I putted an audio on a particular cell, that audio will serve as my background music. However, I am looking for a function or configuration that will let me play and stop the audio when hitting that particular cell. The only function that I have seen was the Trigger and the Gate. :'(
    Hope you reply on my message. Thank you in advance.

    • @InspirAspir
      @InspirAspir  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can follow along with this series I made a while ago (th-cam.com/video/5lktGAfSjCg/w-d-xo.html) to make light effects using MIDI clips, then you can use the Max4Live device to play the MIDI clips with the press of a button :D

    I have a Launchpad MK2, I've followed all of the steps. When I change the velocity (I have made sure that it is within the chain on the specific note, on the specific page), the colour doesn't change. Can someone please help. I am on the latest version of Ableton Live 9.
    Edit: The main MIDI effect rack was deactivated (All colours in the effect racks were grey and black instead of the green and orange in this video). Activate the MIDI effect rack by clicking the icon to the left of the MIDI effect rack in the bottom of the screen.
