You guys who are sprinters will understand the importance of this race being contested on one of the few 6 LANE, outdoor tracks where IAAF meets were held. This is not an 8 Lane or 9 lane track. Therefore, the sharpness of the curve makes a BIG difference. As of about 2004 or so, any IAAF outdoor meet MUST be held on a track with a minimum of 8 LANES or more.

Always been a mystery why there appears to be no video of that race, especially since it was run in March of 2000.
Still, it exists, bc someone split it at 10.68/9.43/10.74, so that turn must've been a sight to see.
The other one that doesn't appear to be out there is the 1990 4x2 anchor leg at Texas Relays (18.5). I asked MJ on Twitter if he had it, and he said only a grainy VHS tape at his parents house.

Michael, was not peaking in his roids at this event. You don’t take .3 off a world record at the olympics just randomly. He peaked. And he was a physical monster. He was a hero of mine, but looking back. Come on man. This was a peak time for steroid usage. He took this loss and then cut .3 off the world record a couple months later. No one touched that record for decades. Then he just beats it and then .3 off just like that? Atleast with Usain Bolt, he progressively got better from race to race and drove his time down. It was shocking to see 9.58, but he did that over a two year stretch. Johnson did it in months...
