This is by far the most beautiful alcohol ink wood grain I've EVER seen!!!!! Thank you soo much for posting this tutorial!!! I'm definitely trying this for my next tumbler!
Thank you! No particular reason. It's personal preference. I've used this size since I learned how to do them so I just automatically reach for it now lol. Thank you for watching!
This cup reminds me of my aunt/best friend whom has passed! Thank you for this it’s absolutely beautiful! I love that the way you do the grain in the wood shows the ring pattern that trees all have
Yes ma'am I covered everything with epoxy. I do have another zipper tutorial. It's a different technique that I use with the alcohol inks but it shows everything from start to finish. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/BwfNrnvoThs/w-d-xo.html Thank you for subscribing! ❤️😊
Yes ma'am, I epoxy over everything except for the tab. I have another zipper cup tutorial that shows everything from start to finish including the charm 😊
Creating with Lindy Rae I more then like it! I’m with your husband. You do beautiful work. I tried it and it’s not had Effortless as you make it seem. Thanks 1 billion for your tutorials. God bless and stay safe
I'm sorry it's not cooperating with you! Just keep practicing and you'll get it 🙂. I'm not sure if it will blend as well with a basic woodgrain but I'll start doing some experimenting and see if I can't get it to work!
Creating with Lindy Rae Thank you for being amazing. I will! Just had surgery last week had a lump removed so my hand isn’t very steady. I can keep watching. Thanks again. Be safe
It's so very pretty I love it. But what a disappointment I thought I was getting a silver zipper and Butterfly's in the middle! Alright thanks for sharing
It's personal preference I think, how you want the zipper to feel. I don't remember how much epoxy I used on this one (45-50 mls maybe?) but I did another zipper tutorial and that one had a total of 50mls over it. Hope that helps 🙂
Hi Alicia 🙂. I chose those colors because I knew when they blended they would create another color - like red and yellow would make orange or green and yellow would make blue. I don't have poppy fields so I can't test it but I think if you were to use those two colors together, the pebble might disappear or it may end up looking "muddy". Maybe if you used more pebbles than poppy fields 🤔. You can try it out on a scrap piece of matte white vinyl to see how it'll work 🙂
May I ask what you sealed the tumbler with?. I gave it a try but the base coat came of when I put the ink and and tried moving it with the alcohol. I put an acrylic paint base on
Hi Carol. I didn't seal anything until after I put the inks on and they were dry. I used rustoleum matte 2x spray paint as my base. You need very little alcohol to move them.
It's a styrofoam football from the dollar tree. The cup was still a little loose so I put an old washcloth over the football to give me a tighter hold. I've also put a nitrile glove over them and that works really well too. Thanks for watching!
Very beautiful and thanks for giving us a informative/instructional video. You are truly amazing and please continue to share your videos with us. Could you give me some ideas of other colors that would look good together. I will admit I am color blind .
Thank you! I normally just let my inks sit for about 24 hours and I don't have to seal. If you feel more comfortable sealing them then I would recommend Krylon Kamar varnish
Yes ma'am. If you want to still be able to feel some of the texture of the zipper, use less epoxy. If you want it smooth, use more. I'm the use more type lol but it's totally up to you 🙂
Can You PLEASE do another short video applying your butterflies to the white area? And also showing how to attach charms to your zipper? I Love the idea of this cup!! My Mum LOVES Butterflies!! I just don’t know how to achieve the finished look like Yours. Thank You in Advance.
Is that the same tumbler that was used for the picture in the beginning?? I feel like the zipper on the final tumbler was open a lot more than the one you were making in the video?? I mean both are gorgeous and wonderfully put together but I feel like my eyes were playing tricks on me almost lol! Good work!
Lol I totally forgot about that. It's been so long. You're right, it is a different cup! The one in the picture I did the zipper first and then the woodgrain. I didn't like it. Thank you for watching! ❤️😊
Hi Denise! I'm sure there's a few ways to do this. Depending on the image and if you have a cricut, you could use the triangle shape with the measurements of the opening, lay it on top of your image and then slice it or make a paper template so you can handcut the image. Put the image on your cup with whatever method you're using and then attach the zipper. Hope that helps 🙂
Thank you 🙂. The zipper only sticks out as far as I want it to so that I can attach a charm to it. I leave the hole on the zipper pull free of epoxy to be able to do that
I'm so curious as to how you epoxy over the zipper. I never thought to use a real zipper until watching and was blown away. Would love to see that process (everything so far has been flat)
I apologize for that. I was new to tutorials at that time. It would be easier for me to demonstrate so I've just decided what my next tutorial is going to be! Zipper cup from beginning to end 🙂
@@CreatingwithLindyRae thank you very much. I ended up seeing it later on in the video when you said what it was. How does the epoxy do over the zipper? Do you have to put multiple coats??
I did 2 layers of epoxy over the zipper. Each one was 25mls. I did do another zipper cup tutorial that shows the process from start to finish th-cam.com/video/BwfNrnvoThs/w-d-xo.html
Amazon sells bundles of zippers pretty cheap, just ordered some and it comes in like 22 colors, 3 of each color. So you wouldn't need to spray paint your zippers :)
Sooo, I tried making this last night and good a bit carried away making the knots. 🤣 I have a Too Much Gene, I always joke. I need to learn when to stop. 🤦 Round 2 tonight. Wish me luck.
I just put the zipper on right on top of the alcohol ink. I think I let it sit for a few hours before putting it on. You can seal it first if you'd like but I'd done enough zippers before that I felt comfortable enough to do it without sealing. I've never tried to attach the zipper on top of epoxy. I've always done it before. Hope that helps 🙂
My dear, you are an artist. Your delivery is laid back. My 75 year old brain loved and computed every detail. Zipper tumbler, here I come!!
Very nice! Love the colors and the tree rings.

Hi!! This tumbler is amazing!!! Very very beautiful!!
🥰🥰
Wow, love the cup and watching you work. A question, is there a reason you didn’t use a zip to the bottom? Just learning 😁

Love it beautiful
😍😍😍😍I love this cup soooo much Ive watched it several times Subscriber🎈tfs. Cheers ☕Ontario Canada. Stay safe
Beautiful tumbler!
Thank you for sharing your skill. This tumbler is absolutely gorgeous! 💜💜
That is the coolest and most realistic wood grain. (besides the color) I typically only see it done with straight lines. So pretty!
Very pretty
Thank you 😊

The way you create the grain in the wood, it really gives the look of tree rings.
what a great job!! Thank you so much for showing us your art!!

Lindy! I am so blown away! You are the most incredible artist and you make this look soooo easy! I’m so impressed! Keep up the brilliant work! 🥰
Thank you so much!!
New subscriber…this is so pretty! I wish you would have shown the epoxy portion. Do you just pour over everything, including the zipper? Thank you!😊

I love this tutorial it turned out amazing! You are talented! I'm excited to see your next video! 💙💜

when you epoxy over the cup, do you cover the zipper too except for the zipper tab so you can still put charms on?

When you got to the finally epoxy, did you have to use a bunch to cover the zipper?
It's personal preference I think, how you want the zipper to feel. I don't remember how much epoxy I used on this one (45-50 mls maybe?) but I did another zipper tutorial and that one had a total of 50mls over it. Hope that helps 🙂
Have you tried other colors? I’m curious if like poppy field and pebble would work. Like an OSU inspired one. Any suggestions?

So beautiful, you can’t use reg glue?
I honestly am not sure what other glue you could use, maybe hot glue? This is just the way I learned so I've always done it this way 🙂
After you spray painted the tumbler, do you seal or epoxy before doing the alcohol ink?
No ma'am, I do it right over the spray paint

Did u cut the fabric part of the zipper off... are you can you just find them with the metal teeth, on them??
I don't think you can buy them without fabric. I had to cut it all off
What do I need to use to seal over the inks?
I use Krylon Kamar Varnish to seal alcohol inks. Thank you for watching 🙂
I love this! Are the butterflies waterslides? They go perfectly with the cup!
Thank you 😊💕. They are temporary tattoos. There's a link for them in the description. I just put them on one by one

With exception to the zipper pull, Do you add epoxy over the ENTIRE cup including the rest of the zipper?

The good thing is you realized you overdid it. Now you know what to do differently. You'll get it! Good luck! ❤️🙂
What size zipper was used
Sorry, just had to keep watching
Its almost impossible to find 91 percent alcohol right now :( I only have 70 percent. Would that work?
I've always used 91% but for something like this I don't see why not. All you can do is try it and let me know! 😊
Have you tried it? I want to save my 91% to clean my tumblers since it’s so hard to find right now, so it’d be nice to be able to use that instead
How long do you wait after finishing the wood grain before adding the zipper? Also do you have to epoxy first before adding the zipper?
I just put the zipper on right on top of the alcohol ink. I think I let it sit for a few hours before putting it on. You can seal it first if you'd like but I'd done enough zippers before that I felt comfortable enough to do it without sealing. I've never tried to attach the zipper on top of epoxy.
