I have a 1/2 ton ‘05 Silverado. I’m bringing it to Oregon when it needs work. Welcome back Leon!

I would have replaced the chain while I had the case broke open, I see it as cheap insurance.
I feel the Big Bite out of the billfold, I just replaced the heater core, dash and instrument bezel in my 98 Dodge 2500 at the cost of $600 + purchased dash and bezel from LMC because they had choice of colors all others were just black.
FYI you can get about 5" more in height if you use the Harbor Freight 6 Ton Jack Stands. Every inch helps when your working under your vehicle.

Well that clearly wasn't a chainsaw repair video but it was just as compelling to watch. Good luck with the truck.

I just welded the case where the pump was rubbing when I did the upgrade.

Sorry to see you having vehicle problems Leon. I just had to replace my main house well water pump. Much more then I wanted to spend. System was down a well over a week and happy I had our new trailer set up in the drive way. Did have water available from our irrigation well pump. Looking for the next video. If I can help let me know. Be careful. Kent

Sorry to hear that Kent! This transfer case pissed me off on principle, but the project itself went surprisingly smooth. I kept waiting for the bad part and for once, it never came!

Got the lesser kit. Just the upgraded pump piece and silicone as my t-case I picked up wasnt leaking. The one in my truck is shot cause of this. Cheap insurance and only doing things once especially something like this, is nice.

    It's actually a 263 X hd the X means its the 8.1 or a diesel I believe.
If it were a 263 hd it would be 6.0l gasser for 2500hd .
Nice video! Bolts sizes are always appreciated haha

Nicely done! Thank you. Did you have any issues getting the new case half back on? Did the bearing clip seat back in the bearing rim easily or did you have to flip the t-case it over to get some help from gravity? Just wondering as I'll be doing this soon to my HD. I've done an NP246 and had issues with the clip when putting the case back on - was really the trickiest part of it all so I thought you might have a tip or two on that on this 263 or whatever # it is.

It's been long enough ago I can't remember whether I flipped the case (don't think so), but getting the snap ring back in place wasn't a problem. It all went together easily.

Am I the only one that thinks he sounds like Ron Swanson from parks and recreation?

    What is the difference internally between the 246 G- M and the 263 H-D - G -M Thanks

I'm sure they have different numbers of splines on the input and output shafts. The 261 LD GM has 27 input and 32 output splines. The 261 HD GM has 32 input and 32 output splines, so you cannot interchange these transfer cases. :(

Having a hard time to find a T case here in Alaska

Same here in North Dakota. All the junk yards and facebook market place people want $1500 + for a used transfer case. No way I'm paying that, so I guess I will just have to replace the parts in my transfer case myself instead.
