The footage and music on both @kpopRc `s and this video are brilliant. For me, something feels like its missing without that distinctive sound and smell of running a Gas version. I got my first hobby grade rc in 1990. Had lots of rc cars and trucks since then. I never liked 2 strokes even though they always kicked my ass LOL. The sound is just terrible to my ears. I liked how instant the power of electric was even with its limitations. Brushless came along and changed the rc hobby and I love it! Zap for life LOL!
When I first started RC it was the run times you could get with gas/nitro vs the NiCad/NiMh batteries that drew me to it. With today's battery tech that advantage is gone in my eyes. So you really gotta be addicted to the sound & smells of running Gas/Nitro to keep doing it.
Way way back in something like 2005-06 I was choosing between a tmaxx and emaxx. The emaxx run time was 9-11min. That made my decision relatively easy. If they had released a nitro version, instead of gas, electric d would have been the instant winner. However, for this 'gas vs electric' debate, my answer is "six of one, and a half-dozen of the other". I luv my electrics - simplicity, ease of maintenance, reliability, etc - but, at the same time, I've REALLY been wanting a gas (NOT nitro) RC again. When I got back into RC approx a little over a dozen years ago (after a 35+ year absence), I started with helicopters, then drones, then cars & trucks (bashing & racing), and finally boats. Since being back into RC, all I've run is electric. However...this is most important...when I first got into RC back in the mid-70s, what I started with was gas. It wasn't quite 'hobby' grade, but it was definitely above 'toy' grade (besides, what gas RC would truly be considered 'toy' grade). To be honest, I'm really "on the fence" with this one. I do want to get an HPI Baja SBK (been interested since the moment I found out about the release)...but, I can't decide which. Living in the SF Bay Area, the electric would have probably been the smarter way to go, and I was just short of getting one...but, having moved to the Las Vegas area a couple weeks, the gas version is "back on the table" (yeah, just had to borrow that phase from Matt). The desert around Vegas is perfect for this vehicle (and MUCH better than the Bay Area would have ever been), no matter which is chosen. It'll probably be at another couple months before I purchase...and, I am 99% certain I will be getting one...but, I could REALLY use input from others on 'which'. Driver?
$750 1/5 scale sand rail kit with notta is flat out outrageous ! i used to love hpi . i still rock my og savage but come on i got my armma 1/5 kraton for $550 in july . sad part is theres just no way to compare a sandrail to a truggy ! drop in a max 6 combo $300 , dc motors DC35wDS 500oz servo $30 , flysky gt5 $50 , $106 smc HCL-HP 11.1V 11300mAh 150C lipo in my kraton 1/5 and its a blast , it will go anywhere but the sandrail 2wd sucks unless its flat
8s Kraton is $970 usually. You're comparing a sale priced rc to a retail priced one. Not good. Also the Kraton is not 1/5. The box and advertising is flat-out wrong. $750 is not that bad for an authentic HPI that deserves the 5th scale label more than certain newbie fake wannabes so desperate to sell that their prices have been slashed greatly.
8s is 1/5 . the roller is 700 but is on sale now at arrma for $490 !!!
@@craigengelman4534 You always believe claims without question? Someone could call a Lunchbox 1/8 scale. Doesn't make it true. Just like the Arrma is not 1/5th.
Rather than saying it sucks, say it's a different challenge. I love the Baja5B, there's not much else like it on the market. Thanks for watching!
Gas for me in the 5b Baja, but in other platforms like the Losi dbxle 4X4 I like and own electric…

Hi.
Why so cinematic? I just wanted to see a normal brushless baja running video. You have a Steven Spielberg complex or something?
You've been subbed for five years, you should know what to expect from this channel by now! 😂
Too much slow motion and music. I can’t figure out which is best.
1/5 scale, gas all day every day, and twice on Sunday.
Ha ha ha ...Gas truck ,UK we call it 2 STROKE petrol 25 to 1 mix ..we cook with gas ...I've both lipo crawlers ,but something about 2 stroke ...if you work cost esc motor lipo etc ,probably 2 stroke is cheaper option...how long run time with lipos ...I get bout 3/4 hr from tank of gas ha ha ...
I was routinely getting half an hour on a 6S 6800mah pack.
Gas is always better.
Give me five good reasons why! 😉
