    Great, thorough review, covering everything a perspective buyer needs. I also appreciate reviews from folks who have really used the item fairly extensively, as you two have. Happy trails

    I have the gravity Sawyer system, which has a (slightly) larger filter (for faster flow) 2 water pouches, a hose with a male and female adapters (between filter and pouch), a back flush plunger, and a piece of netting that holds a pouch for hanging up. It conveniently hooks up to our (USA) soda bottles, so when we needed a lot for a 7 people household with rainwater as our only water (for a few years), we cut the bottom off a 2 liter bottle and dumped in water to gravity filter into a pitcher for our drinking water. It still works so I still keep it with my camping stuff in case I need it again.

      Thanks for sharing your experience! Sounds like a reliable system, great that it helped you out through some tough times with water. We know that there is a bigger Sawyer filter but for our camping needs a small one does the job.

    I like the fact that you can use it on your water bladder system (camelback) and attach it to an average plastic water bottle and use it like a straw.
    Great video. Love the clear and concise delivery in your videos.

    For mine I picked up a 2liter bottle preform/vial. Like the plastic unblown up 2litter.
    Same thickness of the mini maybe 1.5” longer. Weight is pretty much the same.
    And threw out the preform standard bottle cap an screwed on a smart water bottle cap to the preform with the little blue spout an flip cap.
    But the little preform I heated up a mail an melted a small hole in the bottom. Than put a little coffee filter down in the bottom of it. An filled the vial with charcoal.
    So than I connect my sawyer to the dirty water bag. And the clean side tip of the sawyer mine can than push into the smart water bottle flip cap nozzle.
    So after the dirty water passes through the filter to be cleaned. It’s than going right into an through another charcoal filter basically to clean up any taste that would of been.
    An comes out of the hole I melted into the bottom of it. Can either drink it from there or fill a bottle from that end.

      To be able to get rid of the taste of the water is great is some cases which can't be reached by Sawyer. Would have been nice to see it on video or pictures what exactly you did, to have the better idea.

    Have you used Greyl Wate filtration unit? This looks good and cheaper alternative.

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, we haven´t used this one before and it is much more expensive than this Sawyer filter. We don´t feel that we need any other alternative, it suits us well.

    Yes it works! I do have also an katadyn mini...but the pumping takes time and work...every stroke is not much.. so the Sawyer is quicker and the cleaning is simple..
    And what a low price..i have a two liter push bag.. does not come in the pack..
    Other possibility..steripen...but uses batteries...

    Ive used the sawyer mini for Bout 9 years. I dud swap after 5 years for a new one just for piece of mind although I treated my old one good and it was still going strong. I go on minimum 3 7day deep wilderness trips a year. Drinking from puddles, beaver dams, lakes, micro streams on hill sides you name it. I do also add a water tab incase of viruses although not needed where i live. "Mind you sometimes some of the water is questionable but ive had no choice"
    Sawyer mini plus water purification tab just in case. Ill continue to bet my life on it since ive never had an issue or been sick! Enjoy everyone.
    Ps. 1 gallon or 2 gallon sawyer bag/ gravity system is worth looking into / diy when at base camp. Set it and forget it!

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's wonderful, thanks for sharing your story. We've never had an issue with it neither, we used exclusively Sawyer filter for all those years, also for about 5 years now. Don't know if we need to think about changing it now for a new one. Sawyer bag is just a water container? We are using 2L one from Decathlon currently.

    I have one of these but wish I'd bought the katadyn befree instead as it's a lot faster.

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, we've heard that there are faster filters than this, still haven't tried any, but would like to do a comparison some time in the future. To us it is not a problem as we normally don't rush to filter the water when we are at the camp spot.
