The part about having to wait 6 months for a fragrance to macerate to get what you paid for - I've had the same issue with multiple well known and expensive designer brands. This is not just a Lattafa/clone issue.
I completely agree with everything you said within this review, except for the fact that my Asad was fantastic right out of the gate and only improved a wee bit, even after a good 6 months of ownership. For me, the big plus for going with Asad is the versatility and wearability in multiple situations. I walked through a spray of DSE and found it basically unwearable in my own home. My wife, not so politely, asked me to wash it off… And I had to agree with her, mainly. Superb quality the DSE but just too potent unless wearing it out at a club or in a huge venue
I really wouldnt advise getting Sauvage Elixir if you work in a densely populated office space or just around a place where a lot of people are in general. Good fragrance but its ridiculously strong. So much so I feel that I can offend people instead of them appreciating its smell.
Tried this out and sold it off. Yes while it does somewhat remind me of Sauvage elixir, it just felt “flat”, like with Sauvage elixir it felt punchy and multi faceted, but sad was not having any of that, just synthetic and flat.
Asad is stronger than 90% of cheapies I own, maybe more. Lingered in my apartment from sprays hours before. May not compete with elixir’s performance but I got good performance for a inexpensive fragrance
I got Asad and mine is super super strong with projection of more than 4 hours(atleast one and half arms length) after about 1 month of maceration. My wife cannot get enough of me when I wear it. I am a 20 sprays guy however, Asad I only do 6 to 8 sprays. I also prefer the sweeter dry down of Asad compared to Dior
I firstly bought Asad which smells great. Yes it does need time to macerate. However I liked the scent profile so much that I bought the OG Sauvage Elixir. Alas I moved Asad on. If the spicy classic men’s scent profile is not your favourite then Asad will work fine for you. On the other hand the magic is definitely in the OG.
Last week I got Asad for only $13 at local discounter. With this price level I can't complain much. To my nose it's 85-90% similar to DSE. The longevity is good for 6-7 hrs with 2 hrs strong projection, still a good performer for $13. So yeah, compared to $130 fragrance, it's a very very good alternative.
@@ChadSecrets And yeah most of Arabic fragrances need to be macerated for couple months to 'reveal' their true potential. I think the house hasn't macerated their fragrances yet due to financial reason, so they don't have to spend more money to macerate instead they focus on producing more products.
To be fair, I've never had this issue with my Lattafas. I have Asad, Amethyst, Oud for Glory, Majd al Sultan, Opulent Oud, and Ajwaa. All totally wearable from the first day. I've only had Amethyst and Oud for Glory for over 3 months, but those were strong from the start with no notable change so far or any awkward smells that took time to go away. Only Majd al Sultan seemed weak on the first wearing, but upon second spraying in the evening it was strong and even caught me some compliments. Am I really that lucky, with so many different fragrances? Or are we just being overly sensitive as fragrance nerds and making small defects into a huge deal?
I actually own both and I feel that Asad is way more synthetic and “tickles” your nose when you smell it, it smells rough Elixir smells absolutely divine, it doesn’t give me that rough feel like Asad, it’s beautiful Elixir is undoubtedly aggressive but it doesn’t give me that “sandpaper” feel when smelling it like Asad
After watching your review I’ve decided I’m going to buy Lataffa, finish it and the buy DSE. I have tried DSE and it was an amazing profile. I think I might appreciate even more after going through Asad.
I was thinking about getting Asad but I did some research and found Enigma Une. It's supposedly closer to Sausage Elixir and less artificial than Asad or Salvo Elixir but has slightly worse projection than Asad. In my country (Poland) people on fragrantica say Asad is for older men, they dont like it and give it away for their grandpas 😂 I think I'll buy both tho. And maybe Gisada Ambassador Intense later
I just received my Lattafa Asad and here is my review: The first thing I checked was the manufacturing date which is April 2024 so it has been already 4 months, therefore it should be considerably stable by now. I can smell the clones easily. Maybe its natural but I feel the wrong composition of chemicals. Hard to explain, easy to tell. I sprayed it and immediately got the feel of a clone. Edit: I waited for 1.5 hours and now the smell is much better and close to Sauvage Elixir.
I plan on buying some Lattafa fragrances for next Fall/Winter. I figured I'd buy them when that weather comes, but from what you've said about them sitting, would it be worth just buying them now?

No, it's already dirt cheap and I guess that's the only cons to it. My takes are subjective so yea
hey there, I don't know about news connected with this fragrance, but I think they changed something. I bought a bottle of it around 2 weeks ago and it's great. It has very cool atomiser which is very similar to moschino toy boy's atomiser. It has a very good longevity without any exaggerations I had around 10-12 hours from which 2 outdoors and 10 indoors, maybe only some changes with smell, because when I only tested it , it was as you said not very good, but in the same day but a little bit later , it became very good, too be honest I guess in this case it is a fragrance that inspired by dior sauvage not a clone, bur I still like. In my opinion it's better to buy it instead of dior sauvage, and spend other money on a solid fragrance collection, or buy different niche fragrances for example from orto parisi, because this scent it's like total power for the whole year, and I guess the best plus of it is the performance
How does the maceration work? How long do I need to leave it to macerate? Does it reset the maceration If I put on the asad after a month or so to test it?
It just basicslly matures. The longer the time goes by since your original spray it will get a bit stronger. To me its most noticeable difference is withen the first month with subtle changes afterwards
I’m on the fence on manceration, as it’s a big reason in the cost as your designer and niche have the process already done Sometimes though, it has to be done, and I’ve done this with Asad and winter or other seasonal clones so they are ready for when said season comes That being said, Asad is a more “fresh” take of elixir due to the pineapple note in it. A absolute potent clone (imo) of elixir is dua’s version of it, 14 hours for me. What batch of elixir do you have? I tested it multiple times with 2022 and 2023 batches and I found them to not last or project that great on skin and clothes too. I've look online and some people complain that in 2022 they were reformulated.
They were not reformulated to the best of my knowledge. People just go noseblind to it! Usually you should only worry about reformulations if an ingredient or note gets banned which to my knowledge has not happened since the release of elixir
