- Taken from West Pier in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan this is the Philip R Clarke arriving in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan on their way to Indiana Harbor loaded with iron ore. I am speaking with Captain Scott Hein's wife, Mary Hein who I have known for a few years now. She indulged me with an Interview so I could talk to her a bit about what it's like to live in a family with a mariner both when you're a young girl (her Dad sailed) and as an adult with Captain Hein being away. Captain Hein also gave us a wicked awesome Master Salute with a "Woohoo!" when he was done which cracked us all up
Hoping there will be a "Part 2" interview with Mary so stay tuned for that!
Wow, happy 30th! A beautiful testament to marriage and a life in a sailors’ world. Thank you, Andrea!
Happy 30th Hein's. That is fantastic. Mary has the perfect attitude and I think that's what makes it all work and allows both to have careers, and well adjusted home life.
That's wonderful! We get perspective on what it's like having a family member working on the Lakes 🙂
You better give the wife a master salute 😉 or else lol! That was a great piece, it was awesome hearing from Mary giving the perspective of the loved ones, awesome thank you. Happy anniversary to a great couple as well, enjoy your cruise together.
Great perspective and congrats to the happy couple on 30 years.
Great video! I’m not sure how I missed seeing your channel previously, but I am now a subscriber. Looking forward to viewing your back catalog! 🙂
Thanks to these sailors for keeping our economy strong and their families for supporting them. Enjoy your well deserved cruise!
From Sacramento, this is the second channel I've found about Great Lakes Ships. Interesting how many people Flock to see these ships come through and how many realize the Importance of them ! Nobody goes to our 'Deep Water Channel's to see ships come into Sacramento. Google Maps. We kayak there though.
Congratulations, on 30 years and for being understanding while your husband is gone doing a very important job like you as well as in the teaching system
Beautiful picture
🙂👌👍thank you for sharing.
Thanks Andrea. Always love your interviews and videos.
Greetings from a native of Mackinaw City! My grandpa Don sailed for US Steel/Great Lakes Fleet out of Rogers City for 40 years and started on the Calcite II. I actually have a painting of her in my living room. I bet there's a chance her dad and my grandpa might have even known each other. Love the videos!
Love this! Happy Anniversary!!
Happy Anniversary
Great Interview with Captain's wife!
Lucky lady. Congratulations to you both. I had a cousin that worked on the Anderson when they followed the Edmund Fitzgerald. His wife got to join him on some of his trips and I heard about some of the stories about her trips. I’m jealous 😊 Enjoy your cruise.
Mary got reunited with her husband who is the captain of the Philip Clark its probably a joy to be her husband
Wonderful!!
Congrats🎉 to you!!
The name 'Hein' is the same as that of a famous Netherlands admiral of some centuries ago.
These are great ships you post
Hi Andrea
I worked construction on the road for a while when I was younger, now retired. One year I was home One Night (during that year) as I was passing through town on my way from L.A. to Vancouver ! I know what I missed !!
Called wing station. Quite common
Philip r flake good job Andrea
"Promo SM"
From California ; a pronunciation question ; 'SUE' St. Marie as opposed to 'Salt' St. Marie ? Great video !
Soo or Sue. I thought it was salt ages ago
Here in Michigan when someone says "the Soo" everyone immediately knows where/what is being talked about ☺️!
