  • This is Malaysia East Coast Rail link and how this project affect Malaysia's Economic Condition
Malaysia’s East Coast Rail Link, is an under-construction railway infrastructure project. Connecting from the Northeast City of Kota Bharu, to West Port on the strait of Malacca of Peninsular Malaysia. The overall alignment of the East Coast Rail Link network, was designed as such to provide a much-improved connectivity throughout the East Coast region, as well as connecting it to the West Coast. While at the same time, taking into consideration the potential growth for the industrial, commercial and tourism sectors along the ECRL corridor.
The 665-kilometer with 5 spur lines, provides 20 stations, comprising of 14 passenger stations, 5 combined passenger and freight stations, and 1 freight station. The line will take 4 hours, from Kota Bharu to Putrajaya.
The construction of East Coast rail link has been divided into 3 sections.
Section A. From the North, connecting Kota Bharu to Dungun. Which will see development of a 210-kilometer rail link in the states of Kelantan and Terengganu. It will have 6 stations. As of August, the section already reached 11.59% of civil work progress rate.
Section B. The inner section of the rail link, which will connect Kemasik to Maran. This 210-kilometer section, will connect the eastern part of the state of Terengganu, to the central part of the state of Pahang. This line will include 41 kilometers from 5 spur line station. Section B work progress, already reach 28.04% completion rate.
Section C. Will connect Temerloh to North and West Port, via KTM Jalan Kastam. The section will add 201 kilometers of the rail link, including 32 km spur lines. The last section of ECRL is still, in its planning stage to ensure the project would provide maximum economic impact.
Section A and B of Malaysia’s East Coast Rail, target completion date is still remain on January 2027. With 23.96% overall construction progress rate. While section C, will be completed by January 2028.
According to Malaysia’s Transport Minister, the project now estimated to cost 50 billion Ringgit. China Communications Construction Company Ltd, is the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contractor for the project. The Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs or (IDEAS) said. That the government, had not made clear to the public, how the new project costs will impact the country’s economic condition. Particularly conditionalities of the loan from Export-Import Bank of China, including the interest rate. The Chinese interest in the ECRL, came from it being part of China’s mega Belt and Road Initiative, to push for global dominance.

100,000 jobs??. are u kidding. the east coast are under Pas party( extreme islamic party) and the population are 90% Muslims. Coming in to KL (west coast) multi cultural, multi ethnic cities, it will be swarm with these conservative people. Can there accept the liberal folks of KL.?
talking about the belt and road freight route ( from China, Vietnam ) for goods to be transport to westport in Klang. why not through Myanmar or Thailand(Andaman sea) shorter distance , why take sure a long route down to m'sia.

@@aladin9274 The project covers a huge distance. Many jobs will be created not only in the East Coast, but the Central spine and West Coast as well. This is an electric infrastructure that will lead to a new power plant to be built and new government offices and private businesses related to the rail and creation of new jobs due to the short time taken to visit these places that have some of the best highland and island resorts in Malaysia. The same happend when the East Coast Highway was built several years ago. It is not far fetched. Maybe even more than 100k jobs will be created. 100k is just a conservative estimate. Also why not through Myanmar or Vietnam? I attended a seminar in Myanmar before and the harbors and seas in the region are not suitable for large ports to be built. Kuantan Port is the best port in that part of the world. Also, I take it you are not Malaysian and have not lived in that region of Malaysia before? Just ask the non-Muslims who live there. Even some of the biggest Buddhist temples in South East Asia are in Kelantan. They also have more Buddhist temples than many other states in Malaysia.

@@alifhashim3752 i talking about the land route and the Adaman sea. talking about Port, Vietnam ports is not suitable, then where do there ship all the containers?, through kuantan port? No right. you depend on China to ship to by pass singapore. Do you know about supply chain issues that everything is made in china by industrialized nations. There are moving out to invest in their own backyard. in kelantan these are siamese temples, its has been there before m'sia is even form and the religion of Islam was established.
the highland is dependent of the people & tourist from the west coast where already accessible by roads. U talk about big power plants, to do what, where is the big factories investment coming from. to built electric trains, just look at the mrt in kl, never have i seen much passengers. people r still comfortable using their own car. Msia is 1 trillion in debt. every year the deficit is 100millions. where r u going to fund all this big project. print more money.

@@aladin9274 I think you did not understand his point. The fastest route from China to reach the Indian Ocean and beyond would be to bypass Vietnam and Myanmar. Because it is cheaper to travel direct via ship to and harbor at Kuantan port. Even Indonesian ships use Malaysian ports to harbor on the way to the Indian Ocean because its far cheaper than Singapore ports. By harboring in Kuantan Port (a large container port) and dropping the cargo off to transport by train to Westport in Malaysia, ships from China save millions of USD per trip, rather than harboring at the Singapore port. So this would save billion in the long term for China and make the same in terms of revenue for Malaysia.

Idk why there is so much hate comments on this channel coming from asean countries.. cant we just appreciate each other's development.. not comparing?. Each country develop every infrastructure to cater the needs of their people, taking account the number of people, the geographical land of the country and cost. Malaysia is a small country with only 30M plus people. Ecrl and ets is just another option of public transport to shorten the travel time and to develop the non urban areas more. This gv the reason why hrs is not a must atm. The country is now focusing on developing the west malaysia.. by building the pan borneo. For a big country like indonesia they need to have hrs as the country itself is so big and to cater the demand from 100M+ people which is a great achievement they have it now. Hope we just appreciate and support each others achievement not comparing or condemning. Be a matured person plz!.

I sincerely hope this country can go in the direction of transit-oriented development than car-oriented, but that takes more than just blindly building transit and public transportation. The entire city and towns (including the streets) need to be planned and built around transit to be effective, the investment is huge considering we have been car-dependent for a long time but the profits will be huge once it's done correctly. Urban sprawl needs to be reduced that we no longer need unnecessary highways which induce traffic congestion and waste a ton of space.
