She's smart, self-assured, and doesn't suffer fools gladly. Why is it that strong women who know what they're about are always put down for being "intimidating", like it's something they should apologize for?
***** That's complete bullshit. Assertive men are respected, assertive women are frequently labelled as 'bitches' or 'ice queens'. It is absolutely a gender issue.
***** No, they're commonly directed at men who are be rude in some way to others, not just men who are assertive. Sigh, MRA idiots, thinking people complaining about male authority figures who are rude/sexist/unreasonable is remotely comparable to women being undermined and belittled just for being good at their job and in charge. Typically if you're called a dick by anyone you ARE doing something wrong. Women can be called harpys, ice queens, 'career driven', cold, bitches merely for existing and being in charge. Keep crying those man tears. I can see how men being called dicks is totally holding you all back.
She is intelligent, eloquent and confident. Those attributes intimidate people more so in a world where women are more often (but not yet) equally seen in jobs like this.
She's tough. You get the feeling that she plows under any of the slackers in her midst. Given her business, that's an essential skill. If you are going to reign in the land of this-minutes-hippest, you better have ironclad self esteem. That said, I thought the necklace weighed down her diminutive features and made her go all turtle around the neck. IMO.
Who gives a crap as to whether she is "intimidating." She's extremely talented at what she does, bottom line. If she were cruel, unethical or assaulted people, then yea, that would be unacceptable. However, who gives two craps as to whether she "smiles enough." I rarely smile in public, not because I'm mean, but b/c I'm often in thought. People need to stop being so nosy and judgmental. Back off and let people do their thing.
I love her. I have worked with her on several occasions and she is nothing short of well mannered and decisive. In my eyes, she was the shot in the arm I needed.
Anna Wintour is a strong, smart business and fashion forward woman who knows her shit. She's very good at what she does and she's talented, driven and inspiring. People who don't understand or respect that will claim her to be intimidating. But that doesn't make her any less of an important part of the fashion industry.
I mean, I'm not actually that shallow and despite loving fashion, I could actually give a crap what people wear day to day. But it's just hilarious that she's wearing a silky Talbots number from the mall to meet the queen of the fahion industry. She did do a great job interviewing her.
Anna herself is wearing something that looks like she got it from Chico's. Don't even get me started on her horrible hair cut. Bobs can be so glamorous, but with the uneven bangs I can't deal. That is how I cut my dolls hair when I was 5 years old. This lady is hack...we all bought into it, hook line and sinker. I like that Grandma's necklace she is wearing though.
I have always followed Anna she is super smart and believe me she knows the business and know what it takes for fashion. You won't get passed Anna wintour love ittt😊😊♥️♥️
interviewer wasn't experience BUT I think that made Anna more open, she recognised that and didn't feel threatened by the interviewer (as no doubt she has in the past, with more experienced journos, from larger media outlets). Quite interesting I thought!
She is smart. You can see how the interview basically bores her. People like that want to be creative and exploring groundbreaking, new ideas. Not reciting answers to questions she's probably been asked a billion times before.
I really want to be like her and I'm a guy. She is such and influence and such a power in fashion and still cares for the industry to live and see new things. A true artist no matter what people say or think.
She earned my respect not from being as the editor in chief of Vogue but for way she carries herself in this world, and for being such a strong and wise individual. Confidence never goes out of style!
I think it is partly that she works in fashion and people don't realize that that is a tough business. It looks to the ignorant like just pretty girls playing dress up but it's not.
I don't think she is or was the popular girl at school, she seems like the sort of person who was always driven and ambitious and not really interested in winning a popularity contest. That's why I respect her so much - she means business and doesn't need to play nice. It's funny to me how people find her intimidating when she actually simply behaves like any other man in the business world, like a professional who keeps feelings in check. So I agree with what you say about her scaring men.
Looking at her talking Like this, in this way, she seems very very very concentrate on her work, with a Great work ethic and a Great vision... And I Know that I am WRONG... But she seems very human
Very smart and competent business woman. She is now at the helm of Conde Nast and I think that she is very inspiring. If she was a man all this rubbish about being intimidating and blah blah would not even be mentioned. But because she is a woman the press feels entitled to tell negative stuff about her. Sad.
My teachers and advisors often scold me and comment negativly on my ideas and sketches. They don't tell me what are my problems. That pushes me to reach for the best, to break my boundaries and to achieve for the best. She is not wrong at all.
Had the privilege of working with Ms. Wintour twice recently and I can tell you she was very nice and generous. Is she chatty? No. But she did not micro manage. In fact she never even gave instruction. In her case, you just have to conserve your energy and know you cannot make yourself accessible to everyone. I'm definitely Pro-Anna.
she is naturally not a warm person in terms of how she represents herself which to be honest is really difficult to get over with when most of us humans prefer somebody friendly and all. but at the end, she is still human but she knows what she wants and bringing it in
10 years into the future now, I’m curious if Wintour has reconsidered her ‘admiration’ for Clinton and Obama? For a woman of good taste, those two sully the palette.
Yet Anna Wintour took the time to give her an interview, took her seriously, and was very gracious. Maybe you should try to imitate Wintour's poise and consideration of someone obviously starting out. Do you know how nervous that beginning journalist must have been interviewing Wintour? Yet she did it. Kudos to her, and Wintour. We all start somewhere.
By "being hard on people" I meant that you need to be strict, but respectful at the same time. But I agree, encouragement and reward is part of the deal as well!
...The world is cruel and people need to realize that the fantasy world where everybody is all so kind to one another and all hunky dory, the one that they envisioned when younger is not reality. You can't allow yourself to be too sensitive because you're just going to end up getting hurt. At any rate, I really did think she did a fine job, but that doesn't mean that there weren't things that she could have improved on.
I love how she said "Lady Gaga" when she wasn't mentioned by the reported :-)! I hope one day, I am able to be someone with such a big influence in the world as Anna Wintour + The best thing is.... She's originally British! :-)
I don't find her intimidating at all, not from any of the interviews I have watched so far. Weak people find confident women intimidating. I love them, and only but aim at being more and more like that myself, you know.. just confident. I used to have a boss with her demeanour, she was the best boss I ever had. Taught me a lot about self-confidence, straightforwardness and strength. She respected me a lot because I would tell her like it is, and I would respect her a lot for being that sort of person too. If I ever want a job back with her the doors are opened. Great woman! A couple of my colleagues looked a bit scared of her. I just found her awesome, very solid, grounded and reassuring... and with a great sense of style too. Working with her just felt like home to me, and maybe that's why I always come back. Might work with her again actually.
It's called constructive criticism & tough love, if anything I'm sure that girl will use our comments to help her improve on and hone her interviewing skills now that she knows what she needs to work on. She is still young and should be learning perpetually and she won't be able to do so if people keep sheltering her and abstain from providing her with some honest and sometimes critical feedback so that she can develop into a stronger and become a much wiser individual...
She is such an inspiration to me! I think in order to be successful you sometimes need to be hard on people and work hard. I mean if you only try to please them you'll never reach your goals, right?
@Starkardur because she sells. I'm not a fan of her but she does sell. Her cover was the best or second best selling of 2011 . However I agree there are so many amazing women out there but Vogue keeps giving some stars many covers.
interviewer:On the cover of vogue this year i know you featured Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Penelope Cruz...What are you looking for in a cover subject? Anna: Lady Gaga... ♥
I admire her. She seems like a very hard worker and passionate about her job and fashion in general. Her coldness is probably due to her being British, as well as a business woman.
"When I get older, loosing my hair, many years from now." "Will you still be sending me a Valentine, birthday greetings, bottle of wine?" "If I'd been out till a quarter to three, would you lock the door?" "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm .....-....?" Anna, have a Great One, this Sunday. All the Best! ***** awesome
There is NO smoke without fire. Clearly, she is NO angel.
I don't see how she is put down for being "intimidating." The truth is that is just how some perceive her, either she has a problem with that or not.
It's like what Andy said in The Devil Wears Prada: "If she was a man, nobody would have anything to say."
Not true. This is just victimism.
true
True.
a trick: you can watch movies at Kaldrostream. Been using them for watching lots of of movies these days.
@Vivaan Hector Definitely, I have been using KaldroStream for since november myself :)
I think the reason people think she's scary is because she's smart, decisive and firm. She seems pretty lighthearted in this interview.
She is intelligent, eloquent and confident. Those attributes intimidate people more so in a world where women are more often (but not yet) equally seen in jobs like this.
intimidating people often don't see themselves as intimidating
Intimidating ppl are often seen as intimidating by insecure ppl
Mercy Cain i beg to differ
I assure you she is not intimidating
AnnaElisavetta Vonnedozza everyone is insecure
Lavender they just see others as weak.
2:07 I though Anna would say "Please bore someone else with your... questions. That's All"
She's tough. IMO.
You have to admire her a lot. She's been Editor in Chief for close to 30 years.
" ... That's all ... "
Not when she decided to put Kim Kartrashian in VOGUE!!
Well, I agree with you on that one. That was a pretty shameless sell-out moment. I can't stand the Kardashians.
NoireFox sobtrue
NoireFox well i disagree
Oh yeah, Meryl Streep nailed it playing this dame in that Prada flick.
That's an unfortunate outfit choice to meet Anna Wintour.
I mean, I'm not actually that shallow and despite loving fashion, I could actually give a crap what people wear day to day. But it's just hilarious that she's wearing a silky Talbots number from the mall to meet the queen of the fahion industry. She did do a great job interviewing her.
cuttingwedge 😂

and you have no style or sense of fashion...no no that wasn't a question.
Just Me do not bite more than u can chew little girl, go get a job or maybe u can replace her? Perhaps? 😌😌😌
I have always followed Anna she is super smart and believe me she knows the business and know what it takes for fashion. You won't get passed Anna wintour love ittt😊😊♥️♥️

"Lady Gaga" lmaoo slay queen
+A27
Lady GaGa?! Are you kidding?
She is smart. You can see how the interview basically bores her. People like that want to be creative and exploring groundbreaking, new ideas. Not reciting answers to questions she's probably been asked a billion times before.
Whether or not she is scary, she is definitely very smart and capable... much respect for that.
I think this is the most relaxed and down to earth I've ever seen Anna. I really admire her
I really want to be like her and I'm a guy. She is such and influence and such a power in fashion and still cares for the industry to live and see new things. A true artist no matter what people say or think.
I like to work with talented people, in Vogue we search for the best. And always be true to yourself.
Anna.
Give me a career opportunity I'll be fun
Anna Wintour stop making fake accounts for God's sake
+Anna Wintour YOU SUCK!!
Moise Mensah this response was beautifully written!!
She earned my respect not from being as the editor in chief of Vogue but for way she carries herself in this world, and for being such a strong and wise individual. Confidence never goes out of style!
I suppose being intimidating could just mean having strong opinions and wanting a lot out of life
I think it is partly that she works in fashion and people don't realize that that is a tough business. It looks to the ignorant like just pretty girls playing dress up but it's not.
@@AnnaLVajda Idk because if people find her intimidating wouldn't that mean they *_do_* see fashion as a tough business?
The interviewer seems nervous and inexperienced... and talks way too fast.
She's a hard working woman who knows what she wants and how to run a successful business! Hats off to her!
I don't think she is or was the popular girl at school, she seems like the sort of person who was always driven and ambitious and not really interested in winning a popularity contest. That's why I respect her so much - she means business and doesn't need to play nice. Yep!
Rich English woman with good connections thanks to her father
"i don't think i'm intimidating"... she says in a very intimidating way.
Always i want some feedback i see this motivatig interview, she deserrve all the respect, "work hard, have fun, no drama"
Amazing woman, truly inspiring.
This is just an interview. Obviously, she's going to soften everything. Off camera working for her is a nightmare.
Looking at her talking Like this, in this way, she seems very very very concentrate on her work, with a Great work ethic and a Great vision... And I Know that I am WRONG... But she seems very human
It is interesting how the best advice is not only simple, but is practiced by those who offer it. I think she is as interesting as her covers.
Very smart and competent business woman. She is now at the helm of Conde Nast and I think that she is very inspiring. If she was a man all this rubbish about being intimidating and blah blah would not even be mentioned. But because she is a woman the press feels entitled to tell negative stuff about her. Sad.
She's got a great look with her hair cut , light makeup and her conservative yet stylish clothes.
My teachers and advisors often scold me and comment negativly on my ideas and sketches. They don't tell me what are my problems. That pushes me to reach for the best, to break my boundaries and to achieve for the best. She is not wrong at all.
"Lady Gagaaa.." ahahhahahah
Love the way she speaks.
1:33 LOL at the reporter saying could.
Agreed, dont find you intimidating...
Find you lovely, brilliant and someone who f.. king gets it
God bless Chief Lady 💚🙏
Thank you Ms. Wintour I needed that bit of inspiration and truth from someone that I consider one of my heroines
she is naturally not a warm person in terms of how she represents herself which to be honest is really difficult to get over with when most of us humans prefer somebody friendly and all. but at the end, she is still human
but she knows what she wants and bringing it in
This interview was extremely well done!
Changed my opinion of Anna Wintour for the BEST! I have always loved VOGUE!
10 years into the future now, I’m curious if Wintour has reconsidered her ‘admiration’ for Clinton and Obama? For a woman of good taste, those two sully the palette.
December 2024 and still watching this.❤
1:48 OMG is that coco chanel on the background pic ? Someone has to take a video of Anna Wintour explaining the photographs in her office.
Her office look almost exactly like the one in the Devil wears Prada movie. :O
she seems really sweet and quiet. I kind of always knew she wasn't what everyone depicted her to be.
I love her! Such an inspiration. I definitely feel like she's not cold at all..
this woman's got balls.
she's TOO intelligent...that's what makes her intimidating.
What I like about her is that she always includes her team. She never say "I look for...". It's always "Vogue looks for..."
IT HAS NO SOUND
She touches her nose a lot when answering questions. Psychologists say that is a sign of being insincere or possibly fibbing!
She is flawless
even the starbucks cup on the side desk lol

I love Anna and that Coco Chanel's photo behind her...I think I love Mrs. Chanel even more!
she looks amazing for her age
I always say, if you're intimidated that does not make me intimidating, thats your feelings, I can't control that.
I am a construction worker that builds the city she sleeps or lives in. But thanks to this interview I'm glad to be me!
Good job! :D
What is that supposed to mean?
Very impressed, Ms. Wintour!
She's definitely inspirational when she speaks.
I love how she said "Lady Gaga" when she wasn't mentioned by the reported :-)! I hope one day, I am able to be someone with such a big influence in the world as Anna Wintour + The best thing is.... She's originally British! :-)

Might work with her again actually.
stop marketing fur!
I'm sort of in love with both her, but also the necklace she's wearing...
is that the same office like the one in the movie devil wears prada?
I love that she seems so calm all the time. Who cares that I am a fashion icon and millions look to what I say...now bring me a martini. lol.
I love Photo Finish.
powerful woman!! you go girl
@ashutosh232 What exactly happened between the two of them? I'm still not totally sure. Can you explain?
It's called constructive criticism & tough love, if anything I'm sure that girl will use our comments to help her improve on and hone her interviewing skills now that she knows what she needs to work on. She is still young and should be learning perpetually and she won't be able to do so if people keep sheltering her and abstain from providing her with some honest and sometimes critical feedback so that she can develop into a stronger and become a much wiser individual...
As a woman, I completely agree with you, so thank you for this comment
She is such an inspiration to me! I think in order to be successful you sometimes need to be hard on people and work hard. I mean if you only try to please them you'll never reach your goals, right?
Nice woman as always
@Starkardur because she sells. I'm not a fan of her but she does sell. Her cover was the best or second best selling of 2011 . However I agree there are so many amazing women out there but Vogue keeps giving some stars many covers.
That hairstyle is so beautiful.
Her outfit😍😍😍
What's with the thumbnail 😂
I agree! She moved to the US when she was 25 I believe, so it's definitely affected her affect :P
im talking about her in the september issue :D
interviewer:On the cover of vogue this year i know you featured Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Penelope Cruz...What are you looking for in a cover subject?
Anna: Lady Gaga...
♥
Gee, when is the current First Lady going to be on the cover of Vogue?
It is this whole Devil Wears Prada that people have got caught up in.
she holds a position in which she needs to be confident and decisive therefore she is going to come across harsh but she is still a human being
I admire her. She seems like a very hard worker and passionate about her job and fashion in general. Her coldness is probably due to her being British, as well as a business woman.
I always loved her despite what the media says!
wow, her office looks pretty shabby! Not what I expected!
It's a "nerdy minimalistic". It's suposed to leave more space for more ideas.
ahh :)
Was this interview filmed on the set of the movie? Lol.
GREAT looking woman !!!!!
i love her. anna reminds me of my mom
"...Lady Gaga" jajaja I love her
Anna Wintour is the fashion industry!
That jacket looks like a rug on the editor.
Indeed...
There was a story that one time Anna tripped off the floor and the employee who saw her was too afraid to help her and skipped her boss.
"When I get older, loosing my hair,
many years from now."
"Will you still be sending me a Valentine,
birthday greetings, bottle of wine?"
"If I'd been out till a quarter to three,
would you lock the door?"
"Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
when I'm .....-....?"
Anna, have a Great One, this Sunday. All the Best!
P.S.: The subliminal message in the caption above is ofcourse: Anna Wintour IS (not intimi) DATING...Hence her shirt that reads: All This and Brains Too!
