Shaq really found a way to bring rings into this
can't let someone else's passing take all the spotlight.
I’m starting to think he’s a narcissist. I mean look at his previous history. The constant hate for Dwight, McGee. Rudy. I really believe he isn’t satisfied with himself and is so insecure to the point to bring others down to make himself feel better. That’s the vibe I always get from him.
I still love Shaq he's a PHX SUNS too. Chuck with his comment on SHAQ 3 seconds violation.. 5 seconds.
Lol
I was getting scared because I hadn't heard shaq mention his rings during this video but with 40 seconds left he came through in the clutch.
I'm from Los Angeles, I love Shaq because for all he did for the Lakers and the community. But he needs to stop bringing up the 4 rings, especially when it's talking about someone who recently passed.
That's just not cool tbh
Actually, Charles made a comment saying shaq stayed in the lane 5 seconds. It's only natural to have a quick comeback. Shaq is a good dude.
Exactly
Shaq must grow up and be a man. We know he has 4 rings with the help of KB and DW
@@thulanihamilton965 exactly and it’s not taking away from his greatness he just acts like he did hit himself. He also said coaching doesn’t matter and took credit away from the people who made him successful
you gotta admit, Chuck is the reason we all watch TNT.
No doubt about that
Literally don’t even watch basketball. But I do watch all these clips. Literally all because of Chuck.
You just knew Shaq had to throw in a 4 rings comment
lol I'm a Laker and man he's always throwing that shade at Chuck
@@fun2badult The funny thing is .. he's easily the worst analyst out of the 3......Hell I prefer Draymond over Shaq
@@MrCHITOWN247 I provides no insight. "Na don't even argue with me Kenny" - well then provide some logic or reasoning to what you're saying. That's what commentary is.
Shaq still managed to bring up his 4 rings
This man is something else
😆😆😆😆
It’s annoying af
@@Jalen.3 it’s funny lol
At least he basically admitted to cheating. He knows 3 of those rings are fraudulent (2 with LA)
I wish Kobe was here to bring up his 5 rings to humble Shaq sometimes. That ring comment was tasteless
You and me both bruh
No, it actually wasn't.
That’s the strangest play I’ve ever seen. Genius.
The suns used it like 2018 or 2019 to Tyson Chandler, ayton in 2021 WCF. Suns engineered that play
This was the only time Charles ever ran a play right
🤣😅 I peep the coach said that too 👀
@@11god87 I think he's quoting him
I remember that game when I was a kid, I can't believe that was a set play and now I know where "Chuck" came from.🥺!
He’s joking but it’s hilarious.
That might have been the smartest play I've ever seen
This is like that episode of the Office with Asian Jim. We got Black Ernie. He’s been black this whole time, kudos to you for not seeing race
@Satan yeah... no one says that
@@Edaf304 but its true
@Satan you thought you were cool and deep while typing this huh
Martaaaan
Good one. Haha
I'd love to have Ernie on this one.
Fact but he’s at home 🏡 so we got the other guy
He is there he just got a tan
Jeanmi Ess Still true after all these months, but luckily Charles can always carry in moments like these, what a pity though because it's so much better with the both of them handling the mournings and reminiscence.
His substitute got the 360 jumper in, the most memorable part of the clip imo
That’s a great story you told about Westphal, Chuck!!
everyone forgets he was a great player too..led the suns to the finals...twice...haven't been there without him ever before or after even with a 2 time mvp
Title: Ernie is out today
Charles: I miss him man
Shaq: I knew he was out today because I called him and it rang 4 times just like my rings
😂
This is good
2020 Jerry Sloan John Thompson, lou Olsen, kc jones

Tommy Heinshon
@@ferns.vivian yes I forgot about Tommy heinshon and now Tommy Lasorda in baseball ⚾️ 😢
crazy how many former players become coaches....paul was the best of them then sloan
That was good story by Charles. It makes sense now. Never heard people calling him chuck when he was with the 76ers. And Kevin Frazier did ok filling in for EJ. People forget before Entertainment Tonight he was on Fox Sport Net and ESPN. He has a background doing sports.
+1 it was always Sir Charles for me, never knew about the ‘Chuck’ story.
1:22 that pass was RIGHT on the money
Westphal legend hall of famer
Where he indeed belongs
How can inside the NBA not pay a tribute to the heroics of Paul Westphal and the suns vs the Celtics in the greatest finals game ever in the garden in '76...??? It was a triple overtime, marathon contest brought about by Paul Westphal intentionally picking up a technical foul at the end of regulation...
Paul Westphal = Genius Basketball IQ
RIP Paul Westphal
Growing up and watching docs on ESPN classic and NBA TV, that game is what I remember most about Westphal! Amazing
Absolutely yes, crazy, that Game/Series, on top of its classic and age positives, has already a status of being one of the best ever by itself, despite being overlooked like all the ancient past ones!
Westphal and Hondo.. sheesh!
I saw that game on classics! You are right it doesn’t get enough attention, and it was actually the heady move of Westphal taking advantage of the rules at the time to get it into the 3rd overtime by calling a timeout they didn’t have to induce a technical foul but then the Suns could at least advance the ball to half court for a better shot to tie it. Another reason and another great story of Paul’s IQ.
Even in this segment, Shaq still needs to rub his rings in Barkley's face. smh
He is so lame on this show. How are you gonna be that big and be so insecure?
Of course Shaq had to make it about him by bringing up his rings 🤦🏻♂️
i fell in love with Paul Westphal in 1976, 3ot game against Boston, he was perpetual motion, did it on both ends, was a clutch player and could jump, he was the the first Manu Ginobili
1:57 Look at how happy Chuck is 😂
R.I.P. Paul Whestpaul 1950-2021 Best Coach and player I agree Strongly Agree my condolences and my prayers 🙏🏾❤️🤟🏾
Mr.Sensitive 😂😂
That still gets me rolling despite being a year or even two since he first pulled that on Shaq ahahhaah
Laker fan here chiming in. My guys took the first 2 games in a best of 5 in the early 90's in Phoenix. Down 0-2 and facing elimination vs a 39 win Lakers team Paul Westphal told the media "we're gonna win the next 2 in LA, and then we will wrap up the series in Phoenix." Pretty much verbatim. That's exactly what happened. I was young, and crushed. Not after the series, but after the game 2 press conference. Westphal really convinced with the way he spoke, that my Lakers stood zero chance to win 1 out of the last 3 games of that series. I'll never forget that press conference as long as I live. That was one special dude. My condolences to him and his family,
Because of this injury (a sprained left MCL), Kevin Johnson did not play in Game One. He returned well ahead of schedule for Game Two and played well (14 points on 6-10 FG and 2-2 FT, 16 assists, 2 steals), but was limited by a mechanical knee brace and could not push the ball like usual. However, Westphal later said that he could see that Johnson's knee was improving and that Phoenix "would have something more like the real Kevin Johnson" the rest of the way, hence his comments after the Game Two loss. (For the quotation, see Lee Shappell's book "Phoenix Suns: Rising to the Top with the 'Team of Oddities,'" published in 1993, page 265).
It was still a bold move on his part, though.
"And everybody will say what a great series it was."
I did business with Paul 25 years ago. Awesome human being.
"Cause you stay in the lane for 5." On my Chuck. Hahahahahaha
Can’t believe I’ve never seen this play.. super dope!
TH-cam 76 suns vs Celtics finals play
Yea it’s weird how I’ve never seen this
@@daifah3170 I watched it live on television (on TNT) when I was twelve; it has to be one of the greatest regular-season buzzer-beaters in history. As I recall, I knew that it was good as soon as the ball ripped through the net.
RIP Coach.
player too
When’s Ernie back
He's right there? He just got a tan.
@@BlueAmerican26 His true color has revealed
@@BlueAmerican26 lol nah, Ernie is wayy more black than that dude, personality wise
Charles does a great job with eulogies. He picks stories that are funny but always affectionate and meaningful. Every time.
Man I love Charles Barkley, “anyone wanna call me chuck, is allll goood” my guy living carefree
The game was the third-to-last of the regular season, on April 22, 1993. Kevin Johnson's injury was a sprained left MCL. It knocked him out of the final two games of the regular season and was supposed to keep him out of most, if not all, of the Suns' (best-of-five) First Round series against the eighth-seeded, 39-win Lakers. After Phoenix lost Game One at home without him, K.J. returned well ahead of schedule for Game Two. He played well (14 points on 6-10 FG and 2-2 FT, 16 assists, 2 steals) but was limited by a mechanical knee brace and could not push the ball like usual. The Suns thus scored just 81 points and lost at home again, meaning that they would have to win three straight elimination games to win the series.
And they did.
The only play chuck did right so funny and then he just gave name to a legend that we all love now CHUCK!
Please upload more of these each week!!!
When ernie retires this show is going to fall apart
Where is he? I'm worried
@@yonguicho2696 maybe he was busy or doesn't feel well today bro. Let him take a rest day
It won’t.
Paul Westphal was the best tactical coach the Phoenix Suns ever had.
What a great player, even better person!!
Great segment. RIP PAUL WESTPHAL.
Legend..nuff said!
Remember watching Paul when I was a kid and I always admired his playing style.
Paul Westphal was the player who made me realize how important it was to develop my off-hand. He was a truly amazing player and he had hops too!
I mean seriously... Who can forget that triple overtime game between Phoenix and Boston, when both refused to lose?
Criminally overlooked hops a-la Billy C or something, Westphal straight baptized Magic in his rookie season and while it was already 1980 for him. What a crazy moment!
@@dusk6159 **nods** How soon the masses forget!
Everyone -- having a great topic to talk about except Shaq.
Shaq: guys, do you remember that time when i won 4 rings?
STOP IT, SHAQ. STOP IT. ITS GETTING OLD. WE GET IT. YOU WON 4 RINGS.
Wow what a great play
Westphal was one of the select few opposing players I liked as a Sonic fan, and I was ecstatic when they traded for him.
The only time Charles ran a play right floored me lol 🇺🇲
Chuck a real one!
Great coach RIP🙏👊🏾
R.I.P. Coach.
Paul Westfall was an All-American for the USC Trojans. Their best year they went 24-2, with their only losses being to the UCLA Bruins led by Bill Walton IIRC. Back then the NCAA tourney only accepted conference champions so the Trojans stayed home while conference champs with .500 records went. After that the NCAA changed the way they fielded the tournament teams.
He was GREAT in college.
I never knew that origin story about why they called Charles chuck before. Westy was a great man and one of the best coaches the phoenix suns have ever had. A phenomenal coach and an even better person.
What a play! My god
What an inventive play!
Those old H.O.R.S.E competitions with Westphal were amazing.
Rest in peace Coach.
I really REALLY wish i could go back in time and do something that lead to a charles barkley championship in 1993. I am so tired of Shaq always trying to knock charles barkley as if winning a ring is a solo act. It’s not. It’s a team effort.
Both charles and shaq are too 5 all time at their position. Chuck should just bring that up with his rebuttal. But i do like how he replies “I didn’t have Dwayne Wade and Kobe Bryant to carry me up and down the court.” 😂.
True.
RIP to Paul Westphal.
Great story
Rest in peace coach
Coach Westphal called Charles "Chuck" once bc he was actually a big Peanuts fan and if ya'll remember Lucy used to call Charlie Brown "Chuck"... It just stuck. Plus technically, Chuck is the pet name for Charles. Kind of like Bill is for William.
Paul Westphal coached Barkley and the Suns to the 93 NBA Finals. Not only he coached the Suns, he also played for the Suns, too.
And, the Suns should have beaten the Bulls. You don't know how many times I have watched the 1993 Finals. Interestingly, the guy Cedric Ceballos they showed was injured and did not play in the finals for the Suns.
There have been two triple-overtime NBA Finals games in history, one in 1976 and one in 1993. Westphal played in the first one (and scored 25 points) and coached the second one.
Shaq starting to sound like Al Bundy.
How many touchdowns in a high school game, again?
Kenny stayed interrupting Chuck's story
And always finds a way to get himself in the story
R.i.p Coach
Doesn’t chuck saying he was “the only one who knew the rule” story contradict what Paul said about drawing that play up?
Chuck said it wasn't intentional from Westphal
I think he meant after Paul told them during the time out he knew but Blazers didn’t.
Kenny and Shaq are 100% the same regarding their rings. They only got them by playing with the best players in the league. No other superstar, and heck any other player I can think of brings up their rings as much as Shaq.
When Shaq won his first three championships, he was the best player in the league.
Chuck Wagon😂That's why he called you Chuck!😂😂😂
360 was against Boston. I saw him do a Euro step also.
Note to self: Do not jump on eachother in celebration! I'm from this era PHX SUNS so looking back at that was Awesome!
No way I heard him tell me what was going to happen and still didn’t believe it
if the new Ernie is kevin frazier that is pretty good. For you old schoolers that remember when CNN had it's own sports show KF was on there. Solid with no schtick other than smoothness.
Shaq brings up his rings... how selfish can you get?
Ikr for the 1st year it was funny but now it’s getting old
R.I.P
genius play
Someone should do a stat on how many times Shaq brought up his four rings in this show. Probably hundreds of times.
Shaq is becoming like Phil from the sopranos.
I did twenty years!
Everybody: „RIP Paul Westphaul, prayers to the family”
Shaq: „4 RiNgS”
Was that inbound pass off the glass counted as an assist? Cause it better have been

1:30 what does that gesture mean? i've never seen it in an nba game before
Review the film
it means " thats bull 💩"
He's indicating the ball bounced off the backboard.
CHUCK🏀
So Kenny Smith wanted to be an nba coach awhile ago, I've always looked at Kenny as a nice guy who tries to sound smarter than he really is, which is why he never got a gig as a head coach (people around the league likely found that out). The fact that he thought Westphal's story might've been true and was asking Charles to verify....(lol) really proves he isn't a very bright dude. RIP Paul Westphal.
A lot of people in the net think the timeout story is true :).
chuckkkk
I’m upset that Shaq would somehow bring his 4 rings up during someone’s passing BUT I’m more upset at the rest of the panel for not calling him out on it.
I think that would have made it worse. I hope they brought it up afterwards.
@@supes616 My 🧠 agrees with you but my ❤️ that’s painted in Phoenix Suns colors says Chuck should of put him in his place.
RIP
i choke. great coach
Chuc never ran to join a super team, he led a good team to the finals and lost to the one and only GOAT 💯🔥 Chuc didn’t join the Rockets till he was way past his prime and on his way out. Chuc is a winner in my book and to anyone who actually knows and appreciates the game.
Barkley was not past his prime in his first year with the Rockets ('96-'97)-and Houston won 57 games that season. But he did suffer an (undiagnosed) hernia on March 1, 1997, missed the next fourteen contests, and struggled from the field the rest of the season.
CHUCKSTER
Everybody talking about Shaq saying he has 4 rings but what about that great play!
Ernie has changed a lot
It’s crazy how Charles Barkley don’t age. He’s 60 and looks the same as he did at 30
Shaq: did changing ur name help get you any rings chuck?
