The chain is curled, it wouldn’t be a mimic anyway. I do miss the risk of mimics. Even just have one random mimic chest somewhere exotic and watch the death tally triple in a week.
Miyazaki putting one single mimic style chest in the DLC and tricking everybody into momentarily thinking they were about to get chomped was the ultimate troll. Would’ve liked to have seen an actual mimic but this was still pretty good 😆

IIRC there was one of these chests in one of the base game dungeons as well. It was thought to be a mistake/placeholder, rather than an easter egg.

Also there's an area in DLC that reminds you a lot of dragon's peak temple, where you fought snake man & his summons

Had flashbacks and I used a rot pot on it before I opened it , can’t be too careful
i can't tell you how many chests I attacked on the off chance one of them were a mimic, I miss them 🤣🤣
What's funny is that I didn't even notice why I hesitated at first, then checked the chain anyway.

I saw multiple of those chests, I thought there is going to be one single mimic in the game, I got myself to sometimes attack them, just to make sure.
