2019 /2020 RAM 1500 | 1/2 Ton King?

  • Looking for the best all-around half ton pickup truck in America? Or perhaps the ultimate "cowboy Cadillac"? Look no farther than the new RAM 1500 for either. For 2019, FCA reworked just about everything except for their trusty HEMI V8. The all-new interior is easily the best in the segment, towing numbers are stout and fuel economy is quite competitive. Until the new Ford F-150 comes out, this is the truck to beat.

    • @naarealy
      @naarealy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@vojnikjna30Yes, I agree with you. Turn signals are always amber, but in the models with leds, the amber turn signal overrides the red brake light.
      This is an interesting implementation, because it means if you have the hazard flashers on AND the brake pedal is simultaneously depressed, only the high-mounted center brake light will illuminate. The rear brake lights near the tailgate will only flash amber, but no steady burning red will be displayed at all. Again, this is specific to the models with led tail lights.
      A very unique implementation that still conforms to FMVSS. I believe the new Cherokee is similar.

      Yep, I'm really happy with mine except for the fact the idiot salesman didn't recommend the larger fuel tank. The Ram screen readout says 350 miles driving range, when I'm finished filling up on the standard 26 gallon fuel tank. My 2015 Silverado 1500 screen readout said 450 miles driving range. And I don't think they can replace the smaller 26 gallon tank with the larger 33 gallon tank. I'm PISSED, 350 miles ain't very far, and who likes to stop for gas.

      @@chrisbrowne1956 Actually I special ordered one and had to wait 2 months for them to build mine. I just think the salesman could have or even should have at least mentioned the larger fuel tank being an option to DEFINITELY consider especially since i told him I'm towing a travel trailer and touring the country. I've learned my lesson and next time will examine every single option available before I place the order. I found another Ram dealer who was very understanding and I turned mine into him and ordered another with the larger fuel tank. Of course I lost some money but I'm much happier. I agree with you 100% that 33 gallon large fuel tank should be the standard. Driving range between fill ups is a key feature of a vehicle which we tend to not think so much about when shopping for a vehicle. Thanks

    Alex... Thank you again for a great review. One thing I believe you discount in your half ton analysis is the excellence of the updated 2018-present 5.0 in the Ford. Now paired with the 10 speed with more power and port injection, its as good or better than the 5.7 hemi and much better than the 5.3 GM. It's also available in every trim except the F150 limited, and its the base engine in the King Ranch and Platinum. I know the 3.5 and 2.7 have the volume but I'd love to see you review the new 5.0. A whole series on the big 3 with a variety of engines and trims I think would all get a ton of views. (Volume models like the Big Horn, XLT or LT/SLE trims).

    Always been a Ford customer and bought a 2018 2.7L ecoboost with the 10 speed. I liked the gas mileage and it could tow crew boat trailer loaded about 7000lbs total without too much trouble but tended to sway a bit. The big problem which I attempted to have Ford fix was the 10 speed. It would slip and jump into gear between 3rd and 4th and I took it in 4 times but Ford would never find anything wrong or say that Ford says that it was a normal operation. Frustration led me to the Ram 1500 Built to Serve model (yes I'm a veteran), 5.7L with 8 speed. Love the way it looks and drives. On the inside it feels like a luxury vehicle and is definitely an upgrade. No problems thus far except for a bit less gas mileage.

I will never support Ford or GM because they supported Nazi's after America entered the war, Adolf had Henry Ford's picture on his desk and if you think the family ideology has changed in just a few generations, well then I have a bridge to sell you and they have a crappy vehicle to sell you. GM's subsidiary supplied the Poison Gas for Auschwitz and built many things for the Nazis because Irénée du Pont was a Nazi supporter (he owned GM, also don't buy anything Dupont unless you are cool with the whole Nazi thing) . Sadly people don't know their history and continue to support the Ford family that controls 40% of that wretched company even though they technically own only 2%, they dilute shareholder stock and give them no say about it, and their super voting rights have been un-touched. I could go on an on, but all I needed to find out was that GM and Ford were the PRINCIPAL suppliers of the Nazis with weapons of war such as Tanks, Airplanes and trucks even after America entered the war, they have blood on their hands, but sadly our own gov was infiltrated and although Britain saw Ford-Werke as a top priority threat that needed to be taken out, the US was able to get them to back off on it and the only part of it that was ever bombed was were the Jewish people and other forced laborers were. I could go on and on, but most people don't care, it was decades ago, sure thousands more Americans died because Ford and GM supported Hitler and Nazi Germany, but I guess you're cool with supporting companies that support(ed) Nazis, so if you support them, what are you really supporting? Ignorance is no excuse when it is so easy to get the answers, lookup Ford and GM supporting Nazi Germany and read the dogandlemon dot com paper on them, all the references are at the bottom of the PDF so they didn't pull it out of their butt, like the love the fanboys have for the Nazi supporting crap-box makers.

You don't just get to state your opinion and then not back it up by sources, Ford and GM Models score LOWER than Ram checkout the best source www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/v/class-summary/large-pickups - come with an intelligent statement backed by indisputable FACTS. Google "unsupported" and "facts" then maybe you can use those words again with the adults. The Nazis did the same thing, told people lies as facts, sad when the information is right there, no excuse for ignorance, just laziness. Leave the keyboard alone, you can just let it go that someone stated a fact that your opinions don't agree with, too many people just spew nonsense out believing they are right because they can see their words on the screen. That kind of thing belongs on facebook with all the other rectangle worshipping willfully ignorant people who are eager to spread mis-information. Ostrich society here we come.

      @@stevenlee92833 my daily drivers are a tacoma and a 4 runner, my work trucks are chevy duramax. I didnt read all of your response because I dont really care what you have to say. This ram sucks: it's a pointless truck. If you want a fancy car, get a fancy car. If you want something that can handle itself off road, get a taco or jeep. If you want something that can haul, get a power stroke, duramax, or cummins. Cummins engines are the only thing rams have going for them...and they aren't made by dodge.

    First off. I don't haul or tow. Test drove Silverado LTZ 6.2l, Toyota Tundra limited, Nissan titan limited, ram 1500 limited, f150 lariat 5.0 and 2.7 EB. The new Ram by far has the best interior. It's light year ahead of everyone else. After saying that. I bought the F150 lariat with the 2.7 EB. It's the best overall values for me and I love how the 2.7 EB drive. I would buy the ram if they had the rebel there but due to slow production early in of the model year. Also I would never buy a ram with the air suspension due to poor reliability issue especially in cold weather.

    • @BoopSnoot
      @BoopSnoot 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll never understand putting up with all the downsides of having a truck (poor center of gravity, poor handling, harsher ride due to oversprung suspension to handle towing, increased weight, worse fuel economy, etc) if never planning to haul or tow. If you just have to have a bed, what I think you should have driven before buying is a Honda Ridgeline. It can still tow up to 5K lbs, but by making less sacrifices for high towing/bed capacity, it handles much better.

    • @kevingibb5316

      For many, the problem with the Ridgeline is its appearance - just does not looks as "muscular" as the other full size trucks.

      @chunyu9453 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had a 2011 Ridgeline. Great midsize truck! Never any issue! The only downside is poor gas mileage. I was getting no more than 15 to 16 mpg on a day to day basis and 19.5 -20 mpg only on highway road trip! I am getting the same or better mileage with my 2018 F150 lariat crew cap 4x4 2.7EB and it's much faster and powerful :-)

      @guy proulx I test drove all the 1/2 ton pick up. At first i had my mind set on the Tundra simply because it's a Toyota(rock solid reliability). I was so disappointed after the test drive. The Tundra drove OLD.... the driving dynamics(1/2 ton pickup) compare with other simply not there! On the other hand the Titan drives very much like the rest, to me the 5.6 V8 and the 7 speed transmission drive very nice, didn't buy it cause the deal just wasn't good enough(15k off sticker, i wanted 18k). Since i had 2011 Ridgeline RTL, i wasn't interested going to the new design( Pilot with PU bed look)

    • @chunyu9453
      @chunyu9453 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @guy proulx Yes. How a vehicle drive is a personal preference and yes Tundra will most likely have a high resale value. Not sure where you are located, but where I'm at (Northeast) almost all 4x4 1/2 ton pickup hold good resale/ trade in value.(condition/ mileage depend) The Tundra that I test drove was limited model and Toyota dealers are not giving much discount on them(around 5-6k off sticker). I just wasn't prepare to pay mid 50k for a really dated truck. Obviously people are buying them despite the dated design. I believe Toyota sell 100k+ Tundra per year. To each their own, a high resale value alone wasn't enough for me to buy one.

    Absolutely a beautiful truck, both the interior and exterior. But, stop/start and MDS technology are things that I just do not want. Was checking local Ram dealer sites a few days ago, and one of them had a whole bunch of used Rams available that were labeled "buyback". The CarFax report for each vehicle indicated the dealership had purchased them at auction. Seeing ANY buyback vehicles on the market gives me cause to wonder what the heck is going on with Ram. For the kind of bucks they're getting for pickups nowadays, I want bullet proof. And that from the proud owner of a 2016 Dodge Challenger with the Pentastar V6 and 40,000 trouble free miles on the odometer.

      Most Likely its because (as an Example) The Ford F150 has 7 different truck variants, if you were comparing the price of the F150 Limited compared to a Tundra Limited The F150 would be much more. But if you'd compare The Toyota to a Lariat F150 it would be similar options and price. You should compare what the trucks have not comparing the 2 highest models. Toyota doesn't have a truck that competes with the top trim trucks.

      The limited trim for both trucks start at around 52,000. The ram just has about 13k in options on top that the tundra doesn't. But if you skip things like the rambox, the moonroof and overkill audio system then you come down to about 59k which for the mpg and quality increase is worth it

    Well I think of it like this for how I judge the greatness of a truck, and I realize not everyone thinks this way, so just to be clear I’m not trying to start a flame war.
    At the end of the day, pickup trucks are work vehicles. While I do concede that as a luxury item, the Ram far surpasses Ford, Nissan, Toyota and Chevy/GMC, in terms of the ultimate work machine and if you bought the truck based on nothing but numbers, you’d have to go with the F150. That’s the ultimate 1/2 ton pickup. It has the most torque, payload, towing, safety rating and EPA fuel mileage. In terms of durability (engine wise, not so with everything else on it) you’d have to go with the Ram. And as for Chevy, well their saving grace is the amazing price they offer on fleet vehicles.
