    Great to see the progress so far and a special greeting to all the volunteers who are keeping those old skills alive .we come over to the UK every two years and enjoy driving all around while there . Maybe when it's safe to travel we will come and have a look. Well done and cheers from Rick and Jan in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 👍 😃

    Sub'd, and I've seen a few of your videos now. Blown away by what is a pretty big civil engineering project, but being undertaken largely ( I think) by talented volunteers. It cheers me to see it. Thanks also for making and posting the videos.

    SUPERB WORK TEAM!! When I was a junior school boy, I did a project on the Waterways of England and got a GOLD star! I have always loved the canals although never travelled along one in a narrowboat (as I wish I could do) only walked my dogs beside many miles of them!

    I don't live in England, never seen one of these canals in person but I just love the heritage your preserving. I wish it could be used for more bulk transport, a very low carbon way to move goods.

    Is this the same canal which is being restored towards Ashby-de-la-Zouch?
    I use the M6 toll road on quite a few occasions and have been wondering when the new aqueduct will be connected up to a section of canal.
    Great work folks, you all deserve every credit for your sterling work.

      Hi Adam. Thar sounds like the Ashby Canal. No it's nothing to do with us.
      The aqueduct is and we are working in the background to overcome bureaucracy to link it up.

    • @LHCRT

      It's very close to the where the gallows one stood. You can read more about it on our website. lhcrt.org.uk/articles/restoration_gallows_wharf.html

      A bolster as in a pillow?

    • @derekmills5394
      @derekmills5394 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@LHCRT No, a bolster is also a broad cold chisel used by bricklayers to cut bricks, but also useful to split mortar off used bricks. Google images of "Bolster Bricklaying" The ones with a hand guard are best for amateurs!

    i would love to see a video where they empty loads of water out of a lake or canal and clean it out and fill it back up with clean water. 1 place i would love to see cleaned is the river Thames. but its a muddy river and never looked clean. im from coventry and we have canal boats here and i use to watch rosey and jim when i was younger.

    • @LHCRT

    in these times of "climate change" and "green initiatives" it still amazes me how canals have been forgotten , how many tonnes of goods can be moved with a a series mini engine ??? or even a horse ?? sure its not instant with with modern computer programmes goods can be tracked and ordered with plenty of time for the bargees to get them there at a fraction of the "carbon" and man power you could replace ten trucks with a barge and use small electric vans to deliver to shops etc

    But why there only for the well off who can afford a boat to cruise about on or live on while everyone's struggling to eat or put the heating on what's going on here everyone's struggling going to food banks and ending up on the streets and your spending money on this shit your having a laugh
