I may have purchased a couple of M.Graham tubes, in particular the Azo Green because I liked using it so much in this painting. ❤ I am of two minds with the Etchr books - the paper is gorgeous but it is breaking down a lot around the edges so I don't know how long they will keep. They need to be used "fresh", lol.
Oh you have goood taste! I love the Silver black velvets, but oddly not the flats. They're too thick. Fav though is the cat''s tongue!!! Lovely painting, Becky! 🥰
💜💜💜tfs💜💜💜 re the washi, if you microwave it it will loosen the adhesive and make it usable again.. hope that helps. Lovely picture.. I always love watching you paint... so relaxing...
I love how your painting turned out. I just got my first Silver Black Limited brushes and can't wait to use them :) Also, I love M Graham paints. I have had at least 80% of their colors at one point. (They're really inexpensive since I live one State away from their manufacturer here in the US). I just wish they had an Opera Pink color, or at least more magentas than just Quin Rose/Quin Red. I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into my new Silver Black Limited brushes this weekend after watching this!

Have you tried Mijello Mission Gold Pure Pigments? I have a set of 17 colours and they are beautiful! Out of the box, the colours are rich and vibrant, and for me, there was no epic battle to control the paints!
well even though it was shorter than your usual video I really enjoyed that! Them colours are to die for! So bright and intense, the subject matter was beautiful also, and that black swan just finished off the picture perfectly! I'd love to see this done in oils 😁Thank you, 😀
What a lovely painting Becky. The colors are stunning,. my daughter is off to NZ soon so I hope she takes lots of pics. The M Grahams are such pigmented paints, azo green is a must have . I also can"t be without red iron oxide, I use it in all kinds of mixes. Thank you again was great to wake up to this little gem.:)

Since I’m from New Zealand, I thought I’d just nosy in on the convo... hopefully she’s not coming too soon, the weather is kaka atm... snowing and/or cold and rainy ... ‘cos.... winter!
It uses fabriano 100% cotton paper so if you have ever used that, then you will know how it performs. I think it is lighter than 300gsm though but it’s a good watercolour book.
The Perfect Sketchbook uses Fabriano paper, the Etchr Sketchbook uses a different cotton paper, possibly made in China? The paper is actually really lovely but I have noticed the sizing around the edges breaks down pretty quickly so I am trying to use the books up before they become unworkable. Making your own sketchbooks is the best thing! Cheaper too, lol. I am trying to use up my stash 😬
@@BeckyTregear I was informed (by a reliable source) it is still Fabriano but at a lower gsm, and as Fabriano is vegan friendly I tend to think that’s the case though I may have been incorrectly informed - who knows. It may not be the Artistico as in the perfect sketchbook - it may be paper specifically made for Etchr by Fabriano or indeed a different brand. Either way it’s a good sketchbook but agree making your own is even better 😊

I bought 2 MG sets from ebay and i really struggle to use them. So much so that im thinking of giving them away. They dont disperse evenly in water and end up with occassional stain spots. Does MG age? Or do i need to focus on learning to use them right? I dont have a problem w sennelier or schmicke...
Oh I haven't heard of this issue! But maybe it is because they are considerably different to both Schmincke and Sennelier, which are two brands of watercolours that paint out a lot more subtly, and work amazingly well in layers (I love them both). M. Grahams on the other hand, are insanely bright and saturated so they tend to land on the page with SO much more concentration, and it can be quite overwhelming with how heavily pigmented they are! Are you using them straight from tube, or are you squeezing them into half or full pans first? Not that they ever fully set, but they are a bit less crazy to use once they've dried a bit into pans. I usually will then mix the paints out with some water on a ceramic dish to dilute them a little, and make sure the colour is nice and smooth. If you have cobalt colours, these are highly granulating and will naturally look uneven on paper as the pigments themselves are very heavy. I haven't had problems with M.G paints, but they definitely have a learning curve to them, when compared with those other two brands which are definitely easier to use, haha! I guess maybe persevere for a bit longer, but it's also totally fine to not like a product and move it on. Art supplies should bring happiness, so any that don't can go elsewhere. 😆

Yes it is meant to be decorative to put in journals and things like that. But its low tack also makes it ideal for masking off paper for painting. 😊
