Go for it, but if you’re not born and raised eating brown cheese, I think it takes some time to get used to it. If you’re going to try it, make sure to put on some raspberry of strawberry jam 👌 But waffles and ice cream is unbeatable 😊
A very enjoyable film, it was interesting watching you try and give the Swedish torch a try, I’ve never tried it myself, maybe one for a camp during the winter months 😊 and those waffles looked perfect 👌🏻 all the best, Brian.
Thank you so much, Brian😊 It shouldn’t be that difficult to make a Swedish torch if you have some time and dry wood. I’m going to try one more time later on. Let me know if you succeed with the torch 😉
Not a failure in my eyes, first attempt, very good attempt, you also had a plan B. My aunt Maggie introduced me to Waffles, Lillestrom. What a night in the woods 👌
We have two raven couples at my cabin, and that bird is absolutely amazing. I really can understand why it is so into the Norse mythology. Another really great video Mads. Love the way you colour grade this clips. It gives for such an extra mood to it all. I vet you could help the Swedish torch with some angled cuts with your saw. Just to make it draft better. I never made one without a chain saw before, but I really like the drill bit you used, and the tarp, the connectors. That was smart. I normally just tie a truck hitch knot. Is this the Helsport tarp? Again, thank you for this, and no... I have never tried waffles and ice, but you can bet I will next time I'm out camping
Thank you for your kind words! Ravens truly are fascinating creatures. I'm glad you enjoyed the color grading; it has become much easier since I switched to DaVinci Resolve. That's a great suggestion about the Swedish torch! Next time, I will start earlier. Yes, it's the Helsport LY tarp. I'm not sure if it's for sale anymore, but the hooking mechanism is super simple to use. Definitely give waffles and ice a try next time you’re camping!
Your videos are great, I just discovered them, and they are fun to watch and are made with extremly good quality! I'd love to visit Norway too one day! But that would take long from Germany, and here you can't camp in the wild... But anyways, keep on doing them, you deserve more Subscribers with this good of a content. Greetings from Germany!
@@HikingHansen Well I hope so! You're lucky to live there! Oh, and I googled, its just about 2 hours from where I live, well, to Oslo, but not that much.
Greetings from Sweden, my Norwegian neighbour, but I hate to tell you that what you got was not even remotely related to a Swedish torch. The background: When Swedish lumberjacks wanted a fast stove for their lunch break, they used a Swedish torch. The how: On one of the last stumps, they made two crisscross cuts vertically, about 20-30 cm down. Then they took small dry twigs, filled the two cuts with them, and set them on fire. This only works with pine and spruce (the primary timber wood in Sweden), and it always works because of the turpentine in the resin of those two tree types. The conclusion: Good luck the next time, but I would recommend a chainsaw. It'll give you the best width of the cuts in just one go. 😀
Thanks for the clarification. I thought that the term Swedish torch could be used across different cutting/carving methods. But the method you describe sounds the easiest 👍
That’s something I definitely should consider. The Axe is a small splitting axe from Gränsfors (Swedish brand) and the tarp is from Helsport (LY tarp) 👍
Veldig flott produsert, liker absolutt looken.
The axe is fantastic, and so sharp 👌 It’s a Stone Glacier Sky Guide 7900. My favorite pack ever. Expensive, but worth it 🤜 She was working, unfortunately 😊
Flott tur i nærmarka :) Det er et lys fra Biolite (Base Lantern XL). Den begynner å bli nokså gammel, så jeg er ikke sikker på om den er til salgs. Kjøpte den i 2015, tror jeg :)
Wow the woful maker looks awesome!
It sure is 👌
Great to see knowledge and expertise combined with practical application...I learnt a lot...thank you...
I’m glad to hear that, Philip 🙌
Flott filmet tur i skogen!
Wooooo! Ice-cream on waffles 🧇 I’m in!!! Brunost on waffles.. I’ll have to try that as well, I believe there’s a shop here in Montreal that sells it 😋
Go for it, but if you’re not born and raised eating brown cheese, I think it takes some time to get used to it. If you’re going to try it, make sure to put on some raspberry of strawberry jam 👌

I was first introduced to brunost on my first visit to Norway in 2001, I have developed a liking for it 😊

What a night in the woods 👌
Next time I’ll start earlier in the day. It took longer time than expected to carve the holes.
Waffles are the best 👌 I eat it way too often 😁
@@HikingHansen Waffles and coffee me Saturday. 👌
@ericthearfaviking7579 I’ll join you 🧇😃
@HikingHansen Ground coffee beans in my aeropress and Waffles, then into the Cheviot Hills for night camp. Have a great weekend.
@@ericthearfaviking7579 Sounds amazing 👌 Enjoy ☕️
Så fin tid ude i naturen ❤❤❤
Fin liten tur midt i arbeidsuken 😊
Nice and enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing. 👍203
Great video! Maybe drill two horizontal holes for better ventilation?
Interesting thought 🤔 I think that’s a great idea 🤜

Thanks, you too!
what kkind of guylines tighteners are you using? i always use the taut line hitch, but yours seemed a bit qquicker to set up.
I’m not sure actually. The guylines came with the tarp 🤷♂️ But I like the design, and it’s super simple to use 👌

Maybe you have to drill a larger hole to be able to feed small sticks inside it?
I think that’s a good idea 👍 it felt like it wasn’t enough oxygen to keep the flame going - even with firelighters.
Skikkelig koselig leirplass det ble da! Hvilke lys er det på 14:45? :)

You gave up too soon on the Swedish Stove but I still liked your vid and sub-ed.
It was getting late and I was craving some waffles, so I gave up a bit early. I will have my revenge soon 🤜
What you attemptet to make here is called a rocket stove.
Thanks for the clarification, I didn’t know that 👍
🙂👍
Why didn't you build a proper fire pit? :/ instead of just destroying the vegetation and nature ❤️
I’m doing my best to leave no trace 😊
Building a fire pit would require moving rocks, ripping moss… = “destroying the vegetation and nature”
