Average person probably doesnt own a Jeep... I try to do what I love (humbly) and rest is just matter of experience like most of things in our lives... more we do them - better we get, right?! Thanks!!!
Things will get real serious in a hurry if you get stuck on a cold night or during a whiteout. With or without kids. Be prepared for the worst out there, especially with kids. Carry a pprb. Could be stuck for days. I would not take that risk myself. I prefer to go where I can on skis or snowshoes.
love the family..am from Kenya its kinda rough terrain, bumpy hilly inclusive of rocky which is fine for the jeep. mostly we use the land cruisers but am thinking of a jeep in my life,, thanks a lot....yeeeah definitely
Just came across this wonderful and beautiful video Bud. My wife and I are jeepers in Florida, but miss the snow. We lived in Alaska for several years and enjoyed 4-wheeling while up there. Like you, we were not fearful of exposing our kids to that kind of adventure and wanted them to experience nature at it's most raw forms. However, we planned and prepared for emergencies, what nature might throw at us, and was comfortable and confident while out in the bush. Thank you for sharing some of your personal time with family.

Bud, thank you for the great video. Sadly the pineapple express wrecked all the great snow you went through. Can not say for certain, but all the great snow here in WA is washed out. We went from sea level snow, to 8000 foot snow. I am so sorry that I did not get to enjoy the powder that you did. Happy wheeling. PS, I saw the invite. Thank you. Need new engine and a few mods before I go.
Thank you for the reply. You and super jeep are my favorites to follow. I am so glad that you are posting again. Yes, I know that the snow cat was the most fun. I did get to operate one of those in the Sierra's. Sorry, eye sight bad and spelling worse. I use to play near MT Rose. There I got to use a big sander truck and a rotary plow. That and the snow cat. WE will not mention the snowmobiles that I had at hand. My favorite snowmobile was my own. A 1968 Yamaha SL 351. Look it up. Very first made by Yamaha and I drove it one year later. Yes I am old and was very young when I did that.
More power to ya brother!. I moved to Alaska in the 90's and used to take my family (wife, seven year old son and 3 year old daughter)out four wheeling in the snow in the mountains. Fantastic memories. Those that are too afraid to go out in the hills during winter and experience Gods fantastic creation don't know what they're missing. However, I do and applaud you for taking your family out. Nothing better! Go prepared and equip and, well, you know what I mean. By the way, you've got a beautiful family! Enjoy them every moment because they grow up SOOOOOO FAST!!!

Is tire width crucial to snow plowing like this? Would I be able to go through knee deep snow on aired down 275/70R17s? Also, what navigation unit is attached in the top left corner of your windshield?
Width is part of the crucial matter of flotation of the tires atop of the snow... While airing down any tire on any vehicle with reasonable amount of rubber will help, wider tire will offer much larger footprint. There are lots more to the whole "plowing snow" concept, I'm hoping I'll get a chance to record some of the training sessions this winter to post online. That navigation units is my previously used iPhone, running a GPS software. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I'm in snow country up here in Northern Ontario. I've driven my '15 Jeep Wrangler Winter X Edition in deep snow like this a few times but its very powdery because its VERY COLD up here. I have Goodyear Wrangler tires and they are great in deep powdery snow no matter how deep. I subscribed so keep the great videos coming Bud.
I love your videos and the deep snow wheeling is my ultimate goal every spring here in Colorado. We rarely get that kind of snow here... it's usually dry powder that has no traction.

These are Nitto TrailGrappler, they do well in Oregon snow, Toronto will be different. You most likely get a lot dryer snow, more fluffy than our soggy stuff. You would be looking for an actual winter rated tire, as big as you can if you are going for deep stuff
You're warning people not to take 2WD & AWD vehicles onto closed roads during the winter but you're four wheeling with your family and newborn by yourself? Many many people would call that hypocritical and stupid.
Many people are dumb and naive and should stay home and watch others do what they will never even consider doing... :) Being a couch potato is lot easier and much more cheaper!

Taking a newborn on a closed road during the winter is dumb. No matter how much gear you have you don't have a replacement part for everything in the vehicle. You guys could bread down and freeze to death over night...stupid.

Tried to make it to olallie on Saturday going the breitenbush direction. I got up to the end of what I assume is "pucker ridge" but there was a patch of snow that kept kicking me toward the edge.. I played the cautious card and backed all the way down. Was going to camp but decided to just make a fire and igloo style wind break at the bottom and hang out for awhile.
Great video. Your excitement is infectious! Just went up Mt hood to get our Christmas tree and this makes me want to head back up and hit some snow again.
Before I watched this video I was not a fan of jeeps. I didn’t think they were good vehicles. But now I’m a huge fan of jeeps. And I think I need one. Looks so much fun
this is awsome, but i would run out of gas so fast. i have the same wrangler but a 2 dr and have done lots to the engine for way more power. my princess would eat the gas up fast. dont know if i could do this.

I've never had any issues with icying on my LEDs, but if you are concerned - Truck-Lites have a version with built-in heater

this is awsome, but i would run out of gas so fast. i have the same wrangler but a 2 dr and have done lots to the engine for way more power. my princess would eat the gas up fast. dont know if i could do this.
just gotta carry more cans :)
