    For as many times as I've watched this video (note: is is very many), I don't think I really picked up on nor fully appreciated the brilliance and beauty of that projector show going on in the background. The simple juxtaposition of images from Western and from Korean culture really silently but succinctly hammers home a point: despite the differences between our worlds, we're all so very much the same as well.

    • @meingutername2158
      @meingutername2158 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Western in this case is rather clichee austrian and american (as the sound of music is an american movie set in austria) and korean stuff was probably included because Laibach did perform this song in North Korea.

      It's the principle of pop music. Only through ubiquitous repetition can a music be good. Pop music industries runs on this principle. Through this fact I hate anything on the top charts with utmost disgust.

    • @DeluminatusGM
      @DeluminatusGM 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@ridhosamudro2199 But would you say that Laibach belongs to that kind of pop music? I'm not an expert, but I always had the impression that Laibach's music stayed far away from the likes of which you can find in mainstream music.

      @@DeluminatusGM no, of course not. Laibach is somewhere in the Avant-garde realm. I'm just saying that in general, every musical piece is more enjoyable with every listen. How else Slayer have a very large following?

      @@ridhosamudro2199 I believe you are pretty much wrong on that. Pop music is supposed to be catchy. Catch your attention immediately and jump to chorus that will stick to you mind as soon as possible. On the contrary, more complicated and less mainstream tracks sometimes take half a dozen of repetitions before you actually understand why it is considered great.

      Thats what I thought too. There are so many "homeloving" and sweet songs that make yourself proud for your nation and this is the soil for hate and nationalism and all this crap.
      The question is why are you proud of your nation just because there is a song about the nature, food, girls in your country?
      Music takes our emotions and stop us from thinking...

    • @Kamikadze888
      @Kamikadze888 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I think that by mixing images of Western consumerism and North Korean authoritarianism (as you can clearly see in the background pictures), what they are really trying to hint at is the common totalitarian impulse behind all modern sociopolitical systems, including that of liberal capitalism. Which of course wouldn't be the first time that Laibach is trying to convey that point, it's part of their belief system that they state fairly openly. On a fundamental level, we censor ourselves and adjust our lives to the expectations of the system in which we live the same way that the North Koreans do. And if we don't censor ourselves, then the system censors us, and fairly brutally at times. That is not to say that our systems are the same, no two systems are the same and the north korean system is definitely idiosyncratic, but perhaps they are more alike than either one of them would be comfortable admitting. And even more curiously, we may be becoming more and more alike with every passing day. Look at the recent address given by Clint Watts at a hearing by the Senate Judiciary Committee in the US.
      www.wsws.org/en/articles/2017/11/01/goog-n01.html
      Try reading that article while playing "Drzava" in the background, isn't "Drzava" just a perfect match for this article? When you hear "We have spilt an ocean of blood for the brotherhood and unity of our peoples and we shall not allow anyone to touch or destroy it from within", is it really Tito saying that line, or is it Clint Watts? Or, for that matter, any of the other congressmen on that committee who seemed to be in agreement with Clint Watts?

      At the same time, John Coltrane's word-free versions of this schlock tune are so brilliant that it hurts. He turned rubbish into diamond.

      Maybe we're not just consumer units whose behaviour is at the mercy of economic circumstances? As is the leftist take on things.It's only ever Europeans who are criticised for striving towards heritage, identity, nationhood and something greater than the state. The songs are an expression of something that already exists.
      The standardisation of humanity and globalism that you psychopaths envision will always be met with resistance. Be it musical or otherwise.
