    A lot of people are surprised when Jane's Dad doesn't rage out but I think it's so much more compelling this way. He fought to keep his daughter on the right path for 10 years and now that she's dead, the fight has been taken out of him. Nothing left.

      Two weeks is a lifetime in heroin-years, lol... In all seriousness through, it is an incredibly heartbreaking moment. The worth and intensity of feeling one ascribes to another and their relationship(s) need not be contingent to a lengthy passage of time. Offering someone insult for no other reason then lamenting a love they'd lost indicates to me a profound lack of experience and/or maturity.

      While i do believe that saving Jesse is part of Walter's intention i still think the most dominant reason he let Jane die was to save his own ass and looking at the guilt, heartpain and grief that Jesse has to suffer, i m not convinced what he did made Jesse better off. People like to assume that Jane will just keep going downhill dragging Jesse with her but that is not a certainty even if it's a probability. People see Jane using heroin and immediately conclude that she's fucked and beyond hope but drug addicts can recover however unlikely it may seem. For that reason i dont believe the looking out for Jesse's best interest argument is good enough for me.
      Walter cares about Jesse, just not as much as he cares about himself.

    You put it down perfectly, the whole storyline, or even everything we witnessed so far, is about small decisions, and what they lead to (in this case, more bad decisions).
    It's not like Walt crashed the plan. He's not even really responsible for it. Janes dad should never have been allowed to work after such a traumatic experience without proper psychological check-up.
    Plus, Jane herself started taking Heroin again after 18 month and even talking Jesse into it. She decided to blackmail Walt. And they probably would have been dead within a few weeks with all than money that they would ofc spend on more drugs, and her dad would have been as devastated.
    But on the other hand, if Walt would have made some choices - way before letting Jane die - for example just taking the money from his friends, this all would have been avoided. And if Hank wouldn't have offered Hank to go on the ride-along, Walt would never had the idea, would never saw his old student Jesse...
    It's the small things, that kick of the butterfly effect.

    • @diggadirt393
      @diggadirt393 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Exactly! Small decisions can snowball into big things not just in tv shows and movies,in real life too. I think we all have experienced this at some point... some are good, some are bad... but in this show, a heck of a lot of bad ☹️

    • @mrtveye6682
      @mrtveye6682 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@diggadirt393 Right. And the show is so incredibly well written, all the choices the characters make, are somehow - maybe not relatable or justified - but understandable in the given situation under the circumstances the character is in. That doesn't make some decisions less bad, some even unredeemable, but you get where it's coming from. It's not just evil persons doing evil things. It's the consequences of a wrong decision that didn't even looked that bad in the beginning.
      At first, we all root for Walt, he is a nice guy who get's hit hard by life. So yes, making drugs is bad, but he, one more little cook, what does it matter in the grand scheme of things? He's selling what would be bought from other sources anyway. But than, the first murder. Was it planned? No. Was it easy? No. He even wanted to let Krazy 8 go. It was more self-defence than anything. But still, it's his first murder. And the wheel keeps spinning and spinning...

    I mean we get it Kailyn lol, you're pure Walt hater, but as much as Walt's steadily and gradually becomes worse and worse (if you will) - there ate levels to it
    Did leaving a person to die was good? Absolutely not, letting someone die is horrendous, a lot of the times it can't be defended, but in a way Walt was the last piece in this chain if events.
    To be clear - I'm not trying to overly defend Walt, he did some bad things already.
    But sometimes looking from a broader perspective and seeing sides to every story makes it more rewarding instead of focusing on hating on one character. And some hate Walter, some hate Skyler since the beginning.
    I do find it funny and a bit disappointing when people are focused too much on hating one side haha 😅

Jane wore pink lipstick. They show Jane's pink bedspread when Donald is picking out her forever-outfit- there's a pink teddy bear and a girl falling on the mural in her room as well which represents the fall from innocence- Jane's death, the passengers falling from the planes and more specifically the child who played with the bear while relating it to Walt's family and even Jesse's soft spot for children. The teddy bear relates to Jesse's actions involving Jane too. You could say Jane was originally innocent when she first met Jesse judging strictly off her 18th month chip. In the beginning of 'Phoenix' there is a weathered pink teddy bear laying lifeless on the ground outside in that same episode Walt turns down his daughter's birth for instead a deal with Gus- trading and leaving behind the innocence of his newborn for supplying more substance and even destroying the innocence of people's lives like Jesse's. Also Ted was there for her birth instead of Walt. Walt is even watching a nature program about a mother elephant & her calf as Skyler sings a lullaby to Holly in her room. When Jane is on the phone with Walt she says: "do right by Jesse or I will burn you to the ground". I think of a phoenix rising from the ashes a part of Heisenberg representing the phoenix when he let Jane die something snapped, a new side of him was revealed- a darker evil arose because Jane was not an immediate threat to Walt & Jesse in that situation unlike previous times with others. In the very beginning of the season Walt said he needed $737k for his family while the sound of a plane flew over him and Jesse. The plane that crashed was a boeing 737. (BB writers organically wrote the story as the show went along) Walt visiting the crack house made him aware of the impact he's making and what his actions are fueling and the substance abuse is even linked to Jane's father Donald crashing the planes. (There was a real life air traffic controller by the name of Walter White who was responsible for crashing two planes into each other- one of the planes was headed from Mexico). In an interview with Vince when asked about the significance of the two-faced bear's eyeball he said it represents the all-seeing eye of God. I believe this series is about self-deception, to which everyone has a propensity. The salmon-pink sweater confirms that Walt is directly correlated to it all in one way or another.

    It’s interesting. The van in the opening clearly has NTSB on the roof but most people don’t seem to pick up on it. If you are from some country other than the USA that makes sense. But I don’t think many Americans make the jump to National Transportation Safety Bureau. They are the group that investigates plane crashes. It should be clear as soon as NTSB is on the screen.

    I felt that COLORS were very important while watching BB, that each character had its own color, and that they had a meaning. This feeling has been confirmed by many articles I've read on this subject.
    First, the colors in the names White, Pinkman and Schwartz are homages to Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dog (you can also find many homages to Pulp Fiction in BB).
    Then, BLUE is Skyler's color and represents power, because she's the one wearing the pants. If you see Walt in a dark blue shirt, it's for a good reason.
    YELLOW = Gus = crime. This color is also very present in the very first episodes, where Walt encounters the criminal life. It's the color of Kazy-8's car and vest, of Jesse quite often because he's been a drug dealer from the start, of the plastic bag with which Walt thought of suffocating Krazy-8, and Walt's shirt is green-yellow in the episode.
    RED is Jessie's color, but I'm not sure what it represents. Emotionality?
    BLACK = Jane = death.
    GREEN is Walt's color and represents money, chemistry, meth... This path he decided to take.
    PURPLE = Mary = pride, vanity. So it's no wonder Walt wears a purple shirt from time to time.
    ORANGE is Hank's color. I have an idea of what it represents but giving it to you would be a spoiler because this character has not yet revealed his full potential.
    BEIGE is Elliot and Gretchen's color and represents legal fortune and success.
    PINK = Holly = daughters. In this episode, Walt wears this hot pink sweater because he just had a daughter, but above all because he just killed someone else's daughter (he didn't just let Jane die, she wouldn't have choked on his vomit if he didn't shake Jesse). Worst: someone else's daughterS (died on the planes). He bears responsibility, more or less direct, for the deaths of all these daughters.
    "Look what dady did for you, Holly". Awesome... Best dad ever, right?

    @42:50 - Yes. This show is so great.Walts constant need to bring in more money pushed the whole thing along and he unknowingly orchestrated that chain of destruction. He pushed Jesse to seek out and get them involved with Tuco and then he pushed Jessie to expand into other dealers territories which ended up getting Combo killed. And Combo's death caused Jessie to get back involved with using drugs again which pulled Jane into relapsing and breaking her sobriety which caused her death and her death caused Janes dad to go berserk and crash the planes..

    Well like her dad said he has been dealing with her drug use of Heroin for ten years and he finally got her sobor for 18 months and she messed up again so him being mad is totally reasonable he won't give up on his daughter opposite of Jesse's parents he is on other drugs but they have a younger son who they don't want to go down the same path so after the aunt died she let Jesse live in her house so his parents kicked him out and don't want him living with them anymore as long as he is on drugs thinking tough love pushing him away would work but it didn't for him but they never turned him in and Jane's dad was going down a different tough love path when he found out she messed up again he was going to get her arrested to sobor her up he should have done that instead of being manipulated by her and she would have been alive you know he wishes he would have just turned her in Jesse would be in jail too and she would be alive

    To be fair Walt, Jessie, and Jane I feel are all at fault for the plane crash. Jessie got Jane back onto drugs, Jane stayed for the drugs when Jessie told her to leave multiple times, and Walt is at fault for shaking Jesse and knocking Jane onto her back.
    We could always go further back and blame Walt since Jesse would probably be in jail if it wasn't for Walt making him cook differently.
    But yeah all in all I blame them all.

      For example there are people who all bent on hating Walter and they will blame him for everything. Or there are guys who just hate Skyler for various stuff and they also can't see or judge things from a broader perspective.
      Some people are just too narrow minded and focused on thinking one thing

    There are three or four things that annoy me in this series (which is not bad at all for a series with five - or, the way I classify it, six! - seasons); the world's biggest coincidence is one of 'em! Especially when it was already a coincidence when the two Dads sat at the bar together, talking shop! Teasing us all season with that?! Humbug! Still: what an episode, huh? Particularly great acting. Anna gunn nailed that last scene, whew! That must have been delicious to play. Aaron Paul sure went through the ringer in this one (yet again!). "Ok, Aaron, for this episode we're going to need you to cry as hard as you've ever cried....continuously, in every scene....and we're going to have the new guy slap you around a bit. I'm not sure I buy your "seeds of destruction" argument. You're saying Walt's personal decisions lead to this moment. By that you are assigning Walter blame for those outcomes. Each character had personal responsibility in their own fate. Crazy 8 died because Walter was trying to defend himself from Crazy 8 killing him. Don't you remember Walt pleading with him to let him live. Crazy 8 thought Walt was with the DEA and was facing certain death. Tuco died because of his violent nature. Walt was the one who asked Tuco to "relax." Tuco CHOSE to beat up his man, not Walter. Jesse CHOSE to tell Jane about the money. If anyone is responsible for Jane's death its Jessie. I know you're all going to hate that but its true. He CHOSE to involve Jane way too much in what he does. Jane, everyone's little darling because she's "cute," has personal responsibility in her own fate. She CHOSE to threaten Walt. She CHOSE to believe Jessie's money was hers to spend. Jessie and Walt risk getting killed and arrested numerous times and after all that their earnings from it belong to Jane because she earned it? She wasn't the one almost killed by Tuco. She wasn't the one with Cancer and a family to take care of. She wasn't the one who almost died in the middle of the desert because her RV's battery died. Jane however, was the one with a drug problem that was her own before she met Jesse or Walt. Her father knew it and that is why he was distrusting and forceful her. Jane's death had nothing to do with Walter. That probably would have happened anyway because she was a JUNKIE. Your "seeds of destruction" argument seems to only hold up if you absolve everyone else of personal responsibility in their own fate. Walter is guilty of something. He is guilty of believing that he can emerge unscathed in his effort to provide for his family before he dies of cancer. For that he is guilty.

      The reason Jane's death is a necessity from Walt's POV is because he's a terrible person. The series of events that lead to her death are all set into motion by him in pursuit of a criminal enterprise that he didn't have to because he could have just taken his former partners' hand-out. Walt went back to selling meth after he already killed two people and continued doing so after he brought an unhinged lunatic to his family's home (Tuco was literally armed on his curb). Walt wanted Jesse to push into new territory leading to Combo's death, which led to jane relapsing (this would have likely occurred anyway due to Jane's relationship with Jesse). Walt doesn't tell Jesse about the deal, which leads to him telling Jane which leads to the blackmail. Walt pushed Jesse which knocked Jane onto her back where she choked and died. He at no point directly decided to create a situation where Jane dies, but his choices and his actions greatly contributed to it (Kailyn and Eric go into this in their discussion portion.
      The point of the Jane situation and the plane crash is that Walter has placed himself in a situation where he lacks control, his facade of being in charge is just that, a facade. He's not on top of anything, he's a bumbling fool who is too wrapped up in his own bullshit to realize it. At the end of it his lies to his family crumble around him and he's left with nothing but destruction and empty guilt brought about by his own choices.

      Nobody deserves what happen to her. But she took several decisions, clearly aware of what she was doing, that lead her into that outcome. She rented the place to a Jesse, knowing that he has something to do with drugs (or at least some illegal stuff). She started a relationship with him. Than she made the decision to come up with heroin and talk Jesse into taking it - and taking it herself too. She kept the relationship on the lose side ("who's you and me?"), but as soon as she heard about the money, it was about what she can do with it, and suddenly "I'm your partner now". And than went straight to blackmail a drug-manufacturer out of greed.
      She's definitely not that completely innocent victim.
