@@joelmaqueira4851 You are correct, sir! November 29th of that year. It took a while for it to get noticed, though. Warners expected another pop hit like Brown-Eyed Girl, not a free-form jazz record. They didn't promote it much, but in time it was appreciated as a classic.
@Literally Shaking I don't deny the magic behind the original, I've listened to the remastered version 100 times. It is my humble opinion that this cover just has more. It's just Hozier and an acoustic, a Martin by the sound of it, and both guitar and vocals just resonate more. But thank you for the reply 😘

LOL! Uh...you don NOT know Van Morrison, do you? I can pretty much guarantee he would NOT agree with you. It's a lovely cover and Hozier is the shizz...but this cover is NOT "better" than any Van's original or his many live versions. There's something to the way a songwriter sings his own words that tells you the song is personal to them. Hozier's versions are better than most, yes, but not better than Van's.

Thanks for this. I agree, this is my favorite recording of this cover as well. I think even Van would agree Hozier did it better.
