The sway is from the front being light. Stow your gear in front of the axle. More tongue weight will fix the sway. Many people are afraid of being heavy on the ball. Then they have issues. If the ball weight is too much for the tow vehicle, get a load leveling hitch. Pricey, but better then wrecking and getting injured.
Awesome trailer pod build with really good use of space. Really nice camp setup & thank you for sharing the first trip with the camper & your family. I live in SE Wisconsin & hope to do some camping with my truck camper in Michigan in the near future.
Cool build ... You might consider putting some deep cell batteries in the front for weight and off grid camping. Solar panel on the top to charge the batteries and an inverter to run the fridge and your set.
When my wife and I were young this kind of camping was fine. When you get older camping outside setup time is not so appreciated by wife . Bathroom and running water are conveniences that will be a must. We started out with tents moving up to fold down campers. Enjoy these outside camping years with your family. 👍😊
Hey I just ran across your channel. I built a tear box camper out of a cargo trailer and thought a coincidence that you mentioned Muskegon, I live there lol. Good job!
When you want to move the box on the trailer, pry up one end and slip in some dowels. Broom handles will to a great job but a closet rod is better. Put in three or more. The box will roll like a dream. When you want them out, pry it up and pull them out with the strings that you will attach to the end.
Great job on the camper. Maybe one day when they open the boarder again, we will make it up to the falls. We usually get up to Mackinaw City for a couple of days in the fall and then down to Elk Rapids for another couple of days to visit family. Beautiful State. Take care.
Might be helpful, electric blanket keeps small space really warm if off grid. We found it kept us warm and ran it off a marine battery. Thanks for the great videos, looking to build something similar!
Without knowing if your lights have the same bulbs that mine came with, I am not sure this will help My lights came with a 921 bulb which uses 21 watts of power. I replaced them with 912's in some lights, and 908 above the bed. Any auto parts store carries these light bulbs. The lower watt bulbs are also dimmer in the amount of light produced, along with using less power.
Two things for the lights either get the tail light darkening spray ( tint spray) or some strip led (tv mood light) that you could plug into a USB port and possibly a small battery pack if you don't have power
Love the camper build . Just a quick question. Why didn't you fit a 270 degree awning. Then the back/kitchen area will also be covered incase of rain and provide shade on al 3 sides.
My thoughts exactly….check this out to see what I ended up building: You can’t buy these camp tables for the SQUAREdrop camper POD th-cam.com/video/2IXIU20heXo/w-d-xo.html
Hello again. Two questions: 1. What is the foam up against the shoreline? Doesn't look good. Why does the water look brown (like beer!) when it falls over the rocks? Are we just seeing the rocks underneath? Thank you! Diana
Some info on the park….your question is answered in number 6: saultstemarie.com/7-things-that-you-might-not-know-about-tahquamenon-falls/#:~:text=The%20dark%20brown%20color%20in,start%20of%20the%20Tahquamenon%20River.
YOUR PROBABLY ALREADY DONE FIXING THE LIGHTING ISSUE BUT WANT TO TELL YOU AMAZON HAS COLORED VINYL THAT WILL WORK TO FIX THAT! AMBER, YELLOW ETC. I RECOMMEND 3M ADHESIVE . ALSO HELPS TO CONVERT TRUCK LIGHTING TO AMBER OR YELLOW FOR FOX AUXILIARY OVER WHITE LIGHTS.
Well done Matt, good video, and well presented, I enjoyed because I'm thinking along similar lines. PS. The 14 year olds are no different to the ones here in the UK. Good luck.
Try inletting a 1/4" plate the width of your skid into the wood floor at an angle so that it is flush with the wood on the inside and with the steel angle frame. Screw into wood and weld to angle and your "hang up problem" should be solved.
wow that water looks and sounds powerful! nice camper build looks good out there! im going to start mine but i have to wait tell November 10th just to get my trailer inspected they our so behind here in san antonio texas cuz of covid 19 so that sucks
I really really like it cool cool wonder if this would wrk for 7ft interior ht just a thought I'm sure it would wrk really really like ur cmpr u did great job and bless great healthy peaceful safe journeys travels and happy camping have fun 4 me too lol booyah lol also u can buy a sway bar and ur right must the weight should be just be4 ur axle towards the tongue happy camping 🚐🏕🌌🌄🏞🏖💪🙂👍👍
@@LivingOurAmericanDream, there is a 12 v dimmer switch from recpro.com. LED lights are dimmable. The trick would be where to wire the switch. Recpro sells several different flavors of 12v dimmer models.
Tahquamenon Falls is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The closest town (very small) is Paradise, Michigan. It’s very beautiful there and the surrounding area. We highly recommend visiting.
Nice. Yeah mine is framed using 1x4s with 20mm polystyrene insulation. But tossing up idea of doing next one just having side walls 19mm plywood an putting a felt over interior. I used 7mm ply for my exterior but too much flex for my liking becomes a danger leaning on it etc. I like the orange too man looks good against the black well done.
The bed was purchased on Amazon. There are many options. Just search folding foam mattress. Yes, the electrical was me, it is not difficult if you have any experience. As for AC, I did not install one….yet. Thanks.
I’ve thought about putting my husband and I inside the square drop and the kids outside but LOL idk if I trust them or strangers? I guess I’m just paranoid, casualties of living in shady areas
We thought about it and decided the kids are old enough (10, 12, 14). Also, with the windows on the camper open, we can hear them really well since the tent is close. Thanks.
@@LivingOurAmericanDream that’s awesome, I’ve honestly never camped anywhere that would give me concerns but it’s just that parental thought that lingers. Watch this video for loading/unloading the pod from the trailer, cost, and weight.
They do make an anti-say tongue system that my friends put on their travel trailer... When there's got squirrely on the highway..
Great build, love the leg and head room. Having 2 doors is a clever idea. Great extra ventilation and entry and exit access.

I had some trailer sway problems with our pop up camper. I added a sway controller that I got at harbor freight and it worked great.
Loved the videos of the falls.👍😊

I'd notch the back skids like the front skids. No need to worry about the trailer metal lip catching the 4x6.

Put more weight to the toung
Or move your camp forward. Or both
You don't want that sway to get worse!!!! Happy camping!!!
Good looking camper.

Well-done video, thanks for sharing and taking us along with you.
cool camper I love it!!!!
That’s good to know about them led lights I bought the same lights I’m converting a 6x12 cargo trailer.

I think I’m going to try a darkening spray if some sort. Another camping trip coming up soon to try it out.
@@LivingOurAmericanDream seen the spray in Walmart auto section
Hopefully you made it out to see the Crisp Point Lighthouse and then over to Whitefish Point. Da U.P. Eh?
Try wax paper inside the light. As long as it stays cool, the light will shine through. Used it on windows for privacy.
Been there, it's beautiful.
Love the camper build . Just a quick question. Why didn't you fit a 270 degree awning. Then the back/kitchen area will also be covered incase of rain and provide shade on al 3 sides.
Great question….in hindsight I would probably try a 270 awning.
YOU INSPIRE ME TO BUILD A CAMPER, THANKS
Swap the lights to ultra low power LEDs just a few watts per fitting will be plenty and save power rather than cover or paint one
Cut out for a AC unit in the front and a generator on the tongue. That would even out the weight and stay cool in the summer.
Perhaps some mods are in store…we plan to take her to Yellowstone in 2022.
If you want to make a clear light lens diffuse light more, just scuff it with sand paper.
Herllo from Gaylord Michigan! What if you made your camp kitchen table somehow to attach to the frame and fender on the trailer??

I think they should put 2 inch casters steel ,mount onto camper make a channel to roll the camper on and off the trailer would be better

They have transparent paint question where are you get the bed mattress I need one for in the bed of my pick up truck
Found the mattress on Amazon. Search for tri-fold memory foam mattress.
kido's tent ,awsome idea (kido - bear decoy)
😂
Make sure your tires are properly inflated. It will help stop the sway as well. I always inflate about 5-7 pounds less the the max rating on the tire.
I’ll give it a try, thanks.
Consider antisway bar if your first idea isn't as effective as you like.
Which manufacturer are the doors from ? Many greetings from Germany

Wow that’s beautiful this is in Michigan
Сколько примерно весит Ваш контейнер.
Спасибо.
The container alone weighs around 1300 pounds.
Camp 33 has awesome local sautéed mushrooms 🍄
Use Lamin-x protective film to reduce the light in trailer. There are different colors you can cut to shape lens. I believe this is found on Amazon.
Looking into this right now!
How about a rheostat or if you're feeling lazy a remote with dimmer.

I will do a run of dimmable RGB LED light strips to remedy that super bright light issue.
did you use plans to build this? If so where can I get a set?
No dedicated plans. I tried to capture most of the build in phases in my videos. Check them out for some details.
What is the size of your trailer?
Trailer is 5x10 with a 3500# axle.
Thanks. That’s the size trailer I have. Hope to start on one soon!!
Where did yall get the tri fold mattress
Thanks

What was your final cost for the pod build without the trailer?

Hey nice job do u insulate side walls?
Yes, side walls, floor and ceiling are insulated with 3/4” foam board.
Nice. Yeah mine is framed using 1x4s with 20mm polystyrene insulation. But tossing up idea of doing next one just having side walls 19mm plywood an putting a felt over interior. Camping together with your family creates memories that will last a lifetime.
Definitely a thumbs up 👍
That’s to fast to be pulling a trailer my friend 55mph is good?
Wire the lights into a dimmer switch.
Great job...Cost ?
I have not sighted exact, but a little over $3k is my estimate.
@@LivingOurAmericanDream Excellent! Most of the consumer models are well over $15.
What company is the bed from? And did you do the electrical install yourself? How hard was that? Do you have an air conditioner of some kind?

Love the camper but you might want to look into getting sway bars for the tongue rather than changing your tongue weight.
