It is slowed in order to give you the ability to tune your ears to the fast french dialogue. Same with Spanish. It can often be too fast and fluid for non native speakers to pick up on the individual words and phrases so slowing it allows for an easier time with this.
Sam... :D from Wikipedia: Lars Oostveen (Heiloo, Netherlands, 6 September 1976) (also known by his pseudonym Lawrence Ray) is a Dutch presenter, producer and actor. He became known as VJ at MTV Europe as Vico and Maes Country in the Dutch TV series Lotte. Biography After high school, Oostveen studied International Management at the HEAO and attended an acting course at the Mountview Theatre School in London. He also attended several workshops in the field of media presentation and interview techniques, and he took part in the Leadership Development Program at Nyenrode Business University. Career[edit] Oostveen gained international fame in 1996 when he was cast as a VJ by MTV during a working holiday in an Italian ski resort. From London he presented a live program Select MTV five days a week where he interviewed big stars. After he stopped at the station in 1999, he settled in London as an actor and played in several stage productions, television series and films in England and Germany, including a Jeroen Krabbé orchestrated filming of Mulisch's bestseller The Discovery of Heaven . Then in 2006 he returned to the Netherlands, and became a star in the television series Lotte. From 2002 to 2004 he played in all 13 episodes of the French, German and Spanish version of the course Extr@ in the role of Sam Scott. Before Lotte began in 2004, Oostveen was beginning a documentary by Discovery Channel of 700 candidates selected to participate in "Reel Race", a springboard for emerging talent. Although Oostveen is still acting and leaving voice-overs, he focuses mainly on presenting and producing content challenging projects for radio, television and online. He presented a radio program on city Amsterdam FM transmitter for broadcasting and the Salto report of Sail Amsterdam 2010. He also interviewed for the Election Omroepman / Woman of the Year for Broadcast Magazine heavyweights like Paul Witteman, Frits Barend, Erland Galjaard and Peter R. de Vries.[1] In addition, Oostveen is attached as a producer to Eager Films, where he makes productions for major clients such as Exact and E.ON. Oostveen speaks, besides Dutch and English, fluent Spanish, German and Italian.

After about a month of learning French I can understand 80% or what’s said without subtitles. As an English speaker French is very easy for me to learn. Duolingo has been extremely useful for me. Highly recommend it, whilst also using videos like this to practice listening and other websites to pick up on sentence structure, grammar etc.
I am SO glad I found this. I'm supposed to hand in an assignment for French class and I have to watch four episodes of a French show of 25/30 minutes and write a summary of each episode in Dutch (my native language). This show is perfect for this assignment! I had been searching for French shows for an hour and I finally found one that's not that difficult to follow, so now I finally have courage for the assignment!
As of now I'm Advanced in French, and this here is what I first watched as a beginner back 4 years ago it brings back so much memories! I totally recommend it to beginners, et courage à vous tous/toutes !
Love this show. Thanks for sharing. I studied French at school and it was taught in such a boring way that I didn't get far with it. This show actually makes me want to find out what the words are and practice them so great video, thanks for sharing
I have to watch the first 3 episodes today and I have to admit it is actually entertaining and easy to understand! Plus I learn to understand French better!
i'm American in the eighth grade (i believe that's grade 9 for other places like Canada and France) and my school doesn't really enforce learning different languages till high school or upper school, or whatever you wanna call it. I barely understood anything in the show, but i got the jist of the plot. I'm to learn french because most of the world knows two languages and i know only one. I use duolingo to help me learn and i'm gonna try to watch French shows for immersion. Anyone got any tips or other shows for me to watch. I'm like at the very beginner stage. I know a few phrases, some adjectives, some foods and animals, but that's about it.
that is a bit weird. I wish they would enforce learning languages more, but they don't. They barely teach the students in my school spanish correctly. Many kids who are taking spanish in my school say they barely understand anything the lady's teaching. I'm starting now so i can get a headstart before i go to highschool. i should be learning spanish though because most likely i'm gonna take spanish when i get to highschool
Good on you for taking the initiative to pursue another language. Another video series that I highly recommend is "French in Action". It's a bit more involved than extr@ but it is well worth it. The videos arent on youtube, but if google search "French in Action 01" you will find it on other streaming sites. There are also corresponding workbooks and a textbook if you want to buy those off amazon and get even more out of it(that's what I did), but there is plenty of value to be had from the videos alone. Good luck.
Yes, start young. The best way to learn a language is to go live abroad. You can do this in high school or college. I did it in college for 5 years. So much fun!
I started with duolingo which got my foot in the door of french, even without knowing one word of it when I started. Other things that have helped me is Learn French with Alexa and Memrise. I really suggest you try those two out! Plus, they're free. If you are okay with paying, I use Mind Snacks (French version). I think it's only like $2 if I remember correctly. It's so fun, and it teaches you fast response times with translation and understanding!

Love it. They are speaking clear enough and not too fast. Even when it's a little fast they speak very clear. It is perfect for someone between the beginning and intermediate level of French like myself. Thanks guys.
I'm a beginner at French, and I found this easy to understand! I'll keep watching to gain more knowledge :)
Merci beaucoup pour votre video. C'est tellement drôle lol
Soooo glad these are on youtube! Brings back memories from french in school
Man I just remembered watching this in French class the other day and decided to look it up.
Why do I actually understand this I normally don’t understand anything French cause of slang and how fast they speak.
It is slowed in order to give you the ability to tune your ears to the fast french dialogue. Same with Spanish. It can often be too fast and fluid for non native speakers to pick up on the individual words and phrases so slowing it allows for an easier time with this.
Sam... :D
from Wikipedia: Lars Oostveen (Heiloo, Netherlands, 6 September 1976) (also known by his pseudonym Lawrence Ray) is a Dutch presenter, producer and actor. He became known as VJ at MTV Europe as Vico and Maes Country in the Dutch TV series Lotte.
Biography
After high school, Oostveen studied International Management at the HEAO and attended an acting course at the Mountview Theatre School in London. He also attended several workshops in the field of media presentation and interview techniques, and he took part in the Leadership Development Program at Nyenrode Business University.
Career[edit]
Oostveen gained international fame in 1996 when he was cast as a VJ by MTV during a working holiday in an Italian ski resort.
Anyone else watched this show in French class (if you took French high school) raise your hands. Every Friday we would watch an episode. I loved it.
I'm glad I found this, this is a better way for me to improve my French than the little show I found previously. I did google quite a few words while watching this video but I definitely understood a lot!
I have watched these all so many times! Thank you :)
I'm learning French and this series it's so useful. Merci!
I tried to watch this when I first started to learn French. I am re-watching now with subtitles, but it is very cool to see how much I understand even without the subtitles!!!! YAY!!! In fact I caught a wrong translation or two. So excited!
I FINALLY FOUND THIS AFTER YEARS OF LOOKING FOR IT I REMEMBER IN SCHOOL IN FRENCH CLASS WE HAD TO WATCH THIS I LOVED IT OMG THANK YOU UPLOADER FOR UPLOADING THIS TO YT
Literally what I’m doing rn!!
I know it isn't the best show for entertainment but I must say it's helped me retain a lot of words I've been learning because I keep seeing them being used over and over again in different situations during the show so it is helpful
Ok
Well whether the series is funny or not it seems to be a so dumb plot.
Ive been learning for a week now (many hours a day), and understand maybe 30%.
Did you continue learning?
Which websites for grammar may I ask?
Merci beaucoup.
I've been learning French for almost 4 months now..so this show is good to learn...merci!
Maintenant tu méprise bien le français non
I am SO glad I found this. I'm supposed to hand in an assignment for French class and I have to watch four episodes of a French show of 25/30 minutes and write a summary of each episode in Dutch (my native language). This show is perfect for this assignment! I had been searching for French shows for an hour and I finally found one that's not that difficult to follow, so now I finally have courage for the assignment!
I actually really enjoy this. Not just for learning French but the series is actually good. 😂
I wanted to test my french after many years learning and i was so surprised to be able to understand nearly all of this.
i understand all and I only have 3 months studying french (Sorry if a wrote bad my languaje is spanish)
I have to watch the first 3 episodes today and I have to admit it is actually entertaining and easy to understand! Plus I learn to understand French better!
I didn't expect this to actually be funny as i learn (its easy to understand) french
i'm American in the eighth grade (i believe that's grade 9 for other places like Canada and France) and my school doesn't really enforce learning different languages till high school or upper school, or whatever you wanna call it.
It's so fun, and it teaches you fast response times with translation and understanding!
this is one of the shows made
the actors are acting
the voices are indeed voices
and the plot is definitely a plot
thank you so much for sharing this. I'm a lucky man to have found this.
Guessing you have seen the Spanish version of EXTRA? With "Lola, Ana, and Pablo" as the other characters. I am learning a lot from it. I found it first and now found this French version. I love it! I took French in High School and, learned more as the years went by. I went to Paris for my 50th birthday and
want to go to Paris again this summer, so this will be perfect to practice/learn more before I go.
I like Sam doesn't know french but tries his best to understand it. This story also makes you wanna watch more of it.
I extremely enjoyed this video. PLEASE post more!
I feel I can learn French well with this series, so funny entertaining💜
This is like watching "The Room". J'adore le concept
