As a citizen of Moscow I can say that the answer of the question in this video will mostly depend on the region of Russia where you ask it and the age and the level of education of respondents.
My friends and I don't support either Putin or his actions in Ukraine. If to say the truth, I don't have any friends or relatives who support him. But I think it's because I live in Moscow. In other parts of the country the situation can be different.
If you go and ask this question at the place among young people or in the modern business centers, I think the answers will be mostly "No".
Plus, a lot of people here are afraid of speaking the truth, especially after the new law (you can literally go to prison for 10 years for spreading "fakes" about "special operation" in Ukraine. And "fake" in this case is almost everything that differ from official opinion of the government).

If they are a hidden majority they have no way of knowing it, which is why I'm guessing that if anything can change from inside it will happen suddenly when it reaches critical mass.
At present the fine for the 1st arrest for saying the wrong thing to the wrong person is a month's salary, the 2nd arrest means prison (for up to 10 years).

I am Russian and I am against this "military special operation". I do not know English, so I translated my text through a translator.
At the beginning of the war, I very often saw people on Russian social networks who were also against the "operation", and I was glad that I was not alone in my thoughts. Probably, there were even more such people than supporters of the "operation"! However, every week the opponents of the "operation" are heard less and less.
There is a law in force in the country that prohibits "discrediting" the actions of the Russian army. Formally, it is allowed to express their position against the "operation", many famous Russians (actors, scientists, etc.) openly speak out against the "operation", and no one punishes them for this, but the wording "discrediting the army" is too vague for people to understand what can and cannot be said. Because of this, many of Putin's opponents prefer to simply remain silent. Every day I see news how another Russian was fined because of his statements against the "special operation". The fine is quite large by Russian standards (30000-60000 rubles), which is comparable to the average monthly salary in the country. Imagine that you have to pay your entire monthly salary because of some comment? And if you repeat the violation, you will already face criminal prosecution for up to 15 years.
However, it is worth noting that the number of such cases is negligible nationwide. For example, I live in a region with a population of several million people, and here, according to official information, only 18 fines have been issued since the beginning of the "operation". As for criminal cases, their number for the whole of Russia is only about a dozen. But the official media is so actively spreading this news that it instills fear in Russians. Personally, threats have already been written to me on social networks a couple of times and promised to send a complaint to the investigative committee, and now I am waiting for a knock on the door every day. For this reason, I deleted all my comments that related to the "special operation", and now I try to express my point of view as carefully as possible. I hope ordinary trolls wrote to me and my fear is unfounded.
All my family and friends are against Putin's policy. But unfortunately, I know a lot of people who support him. Moreover, many of Putin's opponents, with whom I am familiar, began to support him AFTER the "special operation". This is most upsetting. Putin's supporters believe that Western countries imposed sanctions not because Russia launched a "special operation", but simply because Western countries hate Russians and want to destroy Russia, as they already destroyed the USSR, and the situation in Ukraine is not the reason for sanctions, but their reason. They feel that sanctions have been imposed against them personally, and not just against Putin. Consequently, they feel in the same boat with Putin.
However, the truth is that Western countries are also suffering from sanctions. We are all in the same boat now, which Putin is rocking. No one needs these sanctions, and if Western countries really wanted to destroy Russia, they could easily do it after the collapse of the USSR, when Russia was maximally weakened. But Western countries did not do this. On the contrary, they did not even recognize the independence of Chechnya, which wanted to separate from Russia.
However, all these simple and obvious arguments are completely ignored by the victims of propaganda. Television has pumped them up so much with hatred for Ukraine and the West that they think with emotions, not arguments. "Nazis, Nazis, Nazis" - they repeat these words like zombies. It is absolutely pointless to convince them.
Now I only hope that the "special operation" will fail, and then it will greatly undermine Putin's authority. Perhaps, after this failure, he will even be overthrown. In any case, new people who are not sick of "Soviet thinking" should come to power, and then we will have a chance to build a new Russia and become a worthy member of the civilized world.

At some point I truly believed them, but the moment this war started, being outside of RF, I was shown a completely different side of Putin and russian mentality. Since I grew up with this culture I realised that Russians in most of their history were NEVER independent. They always had a dictatorship of sorts. They don't have this side of culture that makes them act and respond quickly facing oppression from their own government. What they did historically best is silently suffer, survive and be passive. If all of you expect some kind of grandiose manifest or uprising - it will never happen.

Marcos the villain, now his son BongBong Marcos will be runnning for President and he is well loved and a frontrunner in surveys with 60%, that's just shows only those well informed and not brainwashed people understand what a true leader is, I am not surprised as to why some Filipinos love Vladimir Putin as they have some sort of similarities with Pres. Marcos the fact that U.S are involved in both countries as to why these leaders acted such thing, during Pres. Marcos, he had to declare martial law bcoz the opposition (Aquino with direct influence from U.S) had plans of taking down Pres. Marcos from regime, the same with Pres. Putin, these NATO countries a U.S lead alliance is made to take down Russia that's why Putin acted immediately by not letting NATO to their doorsteps, like in the Philippines, Filipinos thought that Marcos is truly the villain that time 1986 revolution, not until 35 years before the Filipinos realize who is the real enemy, to this Russians, they will not realize it now maybe not until 30-40 years from now.. That's why I can't blame some Filipinos supports Russia and Putin as he was seen as a strong, smart and great leader sometimes admired by some Filipinos because he is seen somewhat like former President Ferdinand Marcos

Russian people (Saying as a Russian myself) don't even understand, that Putin did even less, than any other president in any smaller European city. He did sign papers brought to him by other politicians. He may have been iniciator for some programs and improving relationships with other countries, but literally every president does it. And if it wasn't Putin, we would have probably had amazing relationships with MORE countries, than just Belarus and I dunno, China and India. His achievements are so overrated it is incredible. A lot of actualy useful laws, that he actually decided not to sign. People just keep repeating phrases like "He raised our country from it's knees" and "It was worse in 90s" and "We are undevelopped country? We are not in Africa!".
They simply do not understand, that for 30 years of progress there was not enough progress. Sure, Russia right now is better, than it was in 1990s. But it does not mean, that the government did a good job. Compare it to the other countries, who were in the same or even worse conditions after the fall of USSR. Look at Serbia, that is now more European, than Russia, especially in the eyes of the younger generation. Belarus, that Russians resonate so well with, have been fighting for their freedom for over 30 years and are so freedom oriented it is incredible.

@@TheAlchaemist In reality, Russia could have been in European Enion by 2010, if 2014 never happened, it would have definitely been a part of the EU by then. Or at least had been part of NATO and either had Visa-free regime with Europe and North America, or had a stay up to like 30-90 days without needing a Visa. That's one of the reasons people even don't want to live in Russia. Poverty, government and complete disconnection from other parts of the world. And the fact, that people can't travel only makes Russian people even more delluded about actual reality of outside world, they start imagining enemies, where there aren't any. If people traveled to more places than Egypt and Turkey, they would have never even had a thought about Russians being targetted around the world.
In reality, every direction would have been at least as good as in any other European country, at least Eastern. Since the specialists wouldn't run away the very second they graduate. Because they wouldn't need to, they can work in Russia, they can travel around the world, in that alternative timeline they even have a decent government. If people left - they would have probably come back later.

well i don’t think this is the reason 86% of russians actually support putin alot of reasons why they support him .btw i am half palestinian. and i do support putin in some ways . I really don’t support zelensky AT ALL. do you even know that he called us palestinians terrorists?
Edit : i forgot to mention since she thinks that russia is still very soviet.. ( 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩, 𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙖 𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙖 but apparently soviet has became a trending word nowadays anyways ) .. have ears everywhere and people easily go to jail etc.
People in Novorossiya are afraid that their addresses will be save in database and send to the Ukrainian Nazis . In Novorossiya, Ukraine is engaged in terrorism now + they promise genocide in case of future victory. How else should peaceful defenseless residents respond to the collection of information by a pro-Western organization except in a super-neutral and evasive way?? The fear of passing information to the Nazis can also distort the answers of Ukrainians themselves.Absolutely different answers would be if people (and from Ukraine and from Novorossia) were asked on the street - where they are relatively anonymous and without video/photo their face. Overly Jesuitical questions deliberately
confusing ordinary people. Why are they
obliged to oppose politics to economics??
Russia has a healthy developing economy,
oppositional media are functioning - pro-
Western western Ukraine has a completely
corrupt collapsing economy and a ban on
      oppositional/critical media. Thus, the answer
about the primacy of the economy for residents of Novorossiya may be a polite euphemism for Russia's choice. People could have answered in the same way in Crimea in 2014. In the same way, residents of Alaska or residents of Haiti can answer.

There is only one good thing in all of this mess in which we are suddenly back in 1939 when countries had not learned that if we don't respect our neighboors borders there won't ever be peace.
It was not Germany this time around and we will respect our neighboors.
As you say situatios in which there is repression are awful. Change starts in people's minds.
I feel with all the people in Russia who have to live being careful about everything they do and say.

Who do you think gets all the goodies Russian troops steal? Their families back in Raska. They know where it comes from. Never forget this. People need to stop excusing ordinary Russians, and saying they have absolutely nothing to do with the actions of their government. A recent prominent article by a professor in Russian state media called for what amounted to total occupation and genocide of the Ukrainian people, and judging by the comments (the most popular of which had thousands of likes) reflected Russian public opinion quite well. Funnily enough, if you read the article (by Timofey Sergeytsev) it's pretty close to what would need to be done to Russia to turn them into a 'normal' country that wasn't a threat to their neighbours.

At this point with all the general answers being given these last couple of weeks on this channel, it's hard to trust the every day russian at this point. How can you know if they're standing behind their own words.
Sure, some of them regurgitate the answers given to them because of their own safety, which is fully understandable. But I can't fathom why they say that they're "a-political" or whatever. Living in any society makes you, by default, political. No matter where in the spectrum you stand in.
It's sad really, seeing Russian society degrade like this. They all live in a modern society with modern tools which provide them with the knowledge of the world at their fingertips. Yet they keep themselves tunnelvisioned.
It's clear, wether Ukraine falls or not. Russia will be a paria of the world for decades. Not only for starting their "special operation", the hurt they caused to another sovereign people, but also the hurt they caused themselves.

I think living in a society that has never been democratic is like living a life in very defined and limited conditions, your parents lived it that way, grandparents etc. No one has ever had a say. It's just like old time kingdoms or empires, you are a subject of a tsar/dictator. Your life serves the tsar's plan and the state. I guess people don't know they have a power and they don't grasp it. It's like living from generation to generation in a dark prison cell - you don't know that sun exists... even if it's not North Korea because Russians can leave, but I think they are in a mental prison, because controlled information/propaganda just do the same.

@@FancyJones I live in Russia. In Moscow. I don't know why propaganda doesn't work on me. (Probably, it would be even better that way. I would be much calmer... I'm not serious, of course.) I don't watch TV, but I read various press, including Russian. Sometimes I also doubt some of the facts that the Western press presents, but what the hell can justify wars, murders and erasing entire cities from the face of the Earth? Nothing! Never! We will not deal with internal affairs, we will go our own unknown Russian road! We will hang up posters everywhere with this damned letter, which frankly reminds me of something ... We will quarrel with the whole world because something has broken in the brains of one old man. But what is in the minds of my compatriots? A pile of compost? Or is it fear? Or are my people really that blind? Now I can barely contain my anger. Because there are more and more people who simply distance themselves from what is happening. This is scary. I don't know what my country will be like in 5 or 10 years. I know one thing, sooner or later the "throne" will be empty anyway... This gives some hope. I'm only 30 and I hope to see something good here. Sorry for the big text.

@@Dosya1234 Your country in 5-10 years will be fully independent from the West and will _not_ have to depend on every single thing and will also be very, but very prosperous. The West has such power that can turn people's mentalities downwards, they want to be known as “progressive,” but nothing is progressive about them. Believe me, I know about this, my country was invaded by one of those so-called NATO nations (a.k.a. the United States) when they could've avoid it, but instead, they killed people here just so they could proceed with their plan. Also, my country, unfortunately, uses the US dollar, so I'm praying my country will implement its own currency.

@@itsgiag But why should thousands of civilians of another country be killed in order for my country to become independent and prosperous? Why does this "divorce" with the West have to be so painful? Why is the president of my country not fighting corruption, which hinders any positive development, but is building a palace for himself on the coast? Why not fight against total poverty? Why is he unleashing a senseless war, attacking first like a yard bully? Why does he forbid any dissent, forbid independent media, but propagate to his people, like a real nationalist, some kind of "historical Russian superiority", impose the eternal victim syndrome, interfere with the state ideology of the church, as a lever of control? Why, in 30 years, have we not revived, at least partially, our own production facilities that were in the USSR? Is the US to blame? I find it funny to hear about import substitution. On what machines are we going to produce goods? Maybe on the same stumps on which they "voted" for amendments to the constitution? I want to believe in the good, I want the country to be independent and strong, I want Russia to cooperate with other countries on mutually beneficial terms. But why at such a price? There is diplomacy. After all, there are intelligence agencies to make some deals that ordinary people will not know about until 100 years from now. If what is happening is the so-called "last chance" to get rid of the West, then it seems that Putin is not very successful as a politician.
