Wow, what an amazing job to get that Commodore back on the track so quickly at that time. Back then a car that had taken a hit like that would be pretty much heading straight for the bin. Gricey was really muscling that round the track, really making that big, heavy Commodore dance yet keeping it all just the right side of the limit. Proper race driving in cars that were much more likely to bite you big style if you put a foot even slightly wrong...
Yeah those TAFE guys were/are something else. Apparently one of the Euro BMW's ended up there in practise and the team just thought well its written off let them play with it. The next day the TAFE guys said hey can you come collect your car. The team were in shock that they not only had repaired it straight but got the paint job spot on with BMW coded colours lol. 4 of the 6 went through that weekend and all raced.
TrickyMario7654 Yes, unfortunately. Brad Jones crashed it soon after it was bought and converted to AUSCAR specs. A sad loss indeed for a car that could’ve been an historic collectable.
Andy Rouse in an ANZ Sierra ? I always thought that the ANZ Sierras were Eggenburger prepared cars, not Rouse Engineering built Cossies ? Or was Andy Rouse moonlighting as an Eggenburger / Moffet driver ?
Frazer Guest : in 87 Moffat leased Rouse’s car - which used a getrag gearbox that raced at the spa 24 hour- Moffat found out why the gearbox failed at Bathurst from a rouse mechanic . That’s why Moffat convinced Eggenberger to sell him a car and also get revenge for 87
Thanks for the amazing footage. The last time I saw any of this was back in 1987 !
Grice & Percy, showing no mercy.

Ironically, this particular Commodore was destroyed once and for all in an AUSCAR race apparently.

18:10 they pour soap over spilled petrol - isn't that how you make napalm?
V8 super cars is so boring now
It’s funny how NONE of the drivers back then never held the steering wheel the correct way -.
