Hey guys! We hope you're all having a great weekend. We just wanted to clarify a few things regarding our Japan series. We've had some comments since we started our Friday India series wondering if our series from Japan is now over. Actually, it really has only just begun! We'll be having Japan content come out Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday each and every week until mid-April. What you have to look forward to is content from Tokyo until late January. We have more street food videos and day-trips from Tokyo coming out soon. After Tokyo we explore more of rural Japan visiting Nikko, Takayama and Shirakawa-go where we have episodes trying Hida beef, staying in a Ryokan and enjoying nature from late January until March. To finish off our Japan series we'll be heading to Kyoto with episodes coming out for most of March and then we'll have a special series at the very end where we have studio videos covering topics such as travel tips for Japan, Japanese convenience stores and Japanese toilets just to name a few. Also from reading comments there has been confusion about whether or not we're currently still in Japan. Our trip was actually from May 21st until July 19th so we haven't been in Japan for quite some time. Our style of travel has changed from being on the road for most of the year to dedicated trips where will film a lot more while we're on the ground but then edit our series afterwards. I hope this clears things up and please stay tuned for a LOT more Japan content on our channel.
Sam and Audrey hope you are having a great weekend today's video was so much fun I saw it 2 times ...when in Tokyo I would go and try it out I Love Sushi
These vids are so brilliant. I am coming to Japan for the first time in May ( Tokyo Kyoto Osaka ) and because of watching these l am looking forward to it more than ever. Cheers from South Australia
Instead of using the chopsticks to hold both sides of the rice which may cause the fish to fall off when u Turn it upside down to dip it into shoyu.......Chef from Sushi Bar Yasuda say turn the sushi to rest on its side first than use the chopsticks to grip the fish and the rice to dip into shoyu.
We prefer it because with conveyer belt sushi sometimes other people can beat you to a certain dish, but this way you're getting exactly what you want.
Omg this is one of my fave cheap sushi chain restaurants. I'm Japanese based in Canada, it reminds me of a lot of things when I was there! I'm glad it seems you enjoyed yourselves in my home country. Thank you for this video :)
First of all congratulations to you both on hitting 200K subscribers, Im delighted for you and you have worked so hard so this is wonderful. Sushi in Japan is fantastic, I love that you're at bullet train, Ive never ever heard of it but one things for sure, I will do that if I ever go to Japan.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos You’ve actually been here? But did you guys come south? If not, come to Florianópolis. It’s so touristical and gorgeous.
Whatever can be recycled gets recycled. Most of everything else is burned, unless burning causes toxic fumes, those things to go landfill. Tldr; the trash gets burned.
Do you guys find these automated restaurants or eateries without waiters refreshing from the constant interaction with waiters or waitresses or somewhat impersonal? or perhaps the novelty of it all is an experience in and of itself
Great question Carlos! For us, because this is a rather unique experience, the novelty of it makes it fascinating but I think overall it is nice to interact with servers for most meals.
Yeah you are supposed to dip the fish in the soysauce not the rice, however you're also supposed to eat nigiri by hand haha so it's naturally kinda hard to dip the fish into the soysauce using chopsticks. Trick is to turn the sushi it's side and grab the sushi with the chopsticks with the fish and rice both inbetween the chopsticks, meaning one chopstick is touching the fish and the other touching the rice on the bottom side of the sushi :D
I think you are supposed to add the hot water from the tap to your udon noodles. Stir a minute, then eat. if it comes out on bullet train prepared, it will slosh out. The paste was the soup flavoring, and would turn into a broth, when water added. Did the trains snake around and turn corners, or just come straight out from kitchen, then go straight back to kitchen empty. Also, is there a train to take away dirty plates, or did a worker bus the dishes? It would be nice if you could press a button to summon a dirty plate train.
I love you guys, bye the way I was in tokyo two weeks ago and it was amazing experience. I Iove to watch Your videos because they remain me of my trip. I have been in gengi sushi too. Are you there right now? Or is this old trip? ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you very much! That is so cool to hear about your trip. We did ours in the spring/summer so we're no longer in Japan but we are dreaming of our next visit.
Oh wow, I know this place! Its part of the Genki Sushi chain and I eat at the main store just down the street. We actually have these in Hawaii and I go pretty regularly. My fave sushi chain in Japan is still Standing Sushi though. I was LOL at Audrey's mentaiko description as I love that stuff. Its so good on pasta and as an onigiri filling.
I was just there Friday and Saturday! The sushi is good and also the fries are good lmao the line to this place is ridiculous sometimes, I would reccomend going early! (Before 2 or 3 PM)
We have a bullet train sushi conveyor belt here. Genki Sushi. When you got the udon I thought you had to add hot water and mix that paste around. 😂😂 I remember learning that in Japan as well having to dip the fish part in the soy sauce instead of the rice and I attempted and dropped the sushi in the sauce and it splattered all over the table. Mentaiko, the orange paste is cod roe marinated in a chili pepper sauce. Enjoy!

I was going to say it looks like that or sea urchin lol

Bullet train sushi. Now I have seen it all and it is all thanks to you Audrey, Sam and Rob
It's like conveyor belt sushi, but so much cooler! This meal looks so good, despite the rain!

the orange stuff in the udon noodles was fish eggs or fish egg paste

One question! So much packaging everywhere you go and everything you eat - where does it go in such a small country?
I think they have efficient waste management systems in Japan. But I'm not entirely sure of that to be honest.

That is so cool to hear! Great value meal and always fun too.
Very interesting videos. How much would you say you spend, on average, on food per day for the two of you?
It really depends on the type of meal. Our cheapest bowl of ramen in Tokyo was the equivalent of $2.50 and our most expensive meal was around $20.
@@samuelandaudrey Thanks for the response! What was your favorite meal? And if cost wasn't an issue, what is a meal you would have had? Thanks again.
